Arcadia Univeristy is not good well rounded school for students who are looking for great student life opportunities, meal plans, and housing. The academics is probably the only thing is worth it here. However, it really depends on the student's chosen major.

So far, I think the program is great. They begin you day one, thinking like a physical therapist and throw you right into real life examples and experiences. Instructors and advisors are easy to reach and usually get back to you within 24 hours if not less.

Arcadia University is my home away from home. It is a small enough campus to where you recognize everyone you pass on your way to class, but you might not know their name. You always find someone from your hometown, even if you didn't know them back home. Study Abroad is a must, because they make it so easy, affordable, and fun. Professors and classes are amazing. Professors are always available when you need them, and class sizes are super small which makes for engaging conversations and discussions, instead of crowded lectures. The food could be better, but it's definitely not the worst campus food I have ever eaten. Dorms are average, but the RA's are awesome! I am sad to be graduating this year, with my last goodbye to campus being hurriedly removing all my belongings from my dorm, but I know that I had the best college experience because of Arcadia. I made lifelong friends and learned more about myself through clubs and activities, then I ever would have expected. Arcadia is 10/10.

I love it here. As someone who has been to three other colleges prior to Arcadia, I finally feel like I belong somewhere. Everything is close by and the class sizes are small which I really like because the professors care about their students. Arcadia University is the place for me!
Rebecca - 04/23/2020
Arcadia University is overall wonderful. The transfer rate may be high, but the academic resources are great. I feel prepared for graduate school and my professors are always fair in their grading and are accessible. The campus food has gotten better each year I come back, and the campus is very safe. There are intermural sports to keep busy, and many clubs. The classes are difficult, but the grades you acquire are a direct reflection of the amount of effort a students puts in.

Before attending Arcadia, I was really nervous that I would not make any friends or find a place where I fit, but the staff and students are very kind and understanding, and I was able to make a few friends during orientation week and in my classes. Something that I could not personally stand was the amount of icebreakers as it puts you on the spot, but it does help you get to know a little about your peers I guess.
Classroom sizes are pretty small, but not too small (around 20-30 students), so you would probably receive attention from your students and teachers when you’re speaking. This is a good thing, as it would help students be comfortable in talking to their teacher when they really need assistance. From personal experience, my professors have helped me with my homework and have been flexible and accommodating, when speaking to them about it before the due date.
On the weekends, it looks like a ghost town sometimes, but there are events usually every week. Sometimes there are movie nights, performances, or midnight bingo which is pretty fun. It gives you an opportunity to meet people, that is, if people haven’t formed their friend groups yet. Some movies we’ve watched in the past were Parasite, Joker, and others. Midnight bingo is not worth it if you don’t want to stay up past 1 AM trying to win an inflatable bed, a backpack, or bluetooth speakers. You can also take the train to Philadelphia over the weekend if you’re bored.
The food isn’t always the best, eating at the Chat will probably leave you gassy for hours. Eating at the dining hall is pretty nice as it is a different variety of food every day. There is also a salad bar and an area for desserts/sweets, but there are tons that I avoid eating. The nice part is that it is all you can eat, while the Chat is kind of like ordering at a fast-food area. There’s a Starbucks in Easton hall that’s open Mondays to Fridays which you can buy with knight points.

Overall it is a great school, but of course it has its flaws. My main word of caution is if you are a chemistry major looking to apply at Arcadia, then be prepared for a difficult time and difficult classes. Also be aware that the food is not the greatest.

This school attempts to push a plethora of radical liberal ideologies to the point that it is absolutely unbearable. The staff, or at least the professors I've had, have made college seem as though it was a repeat of high school, as they will baby you and spend days upon days teaching simple tasks, such as MLA, or how to cite an essay. It's simply not worth the money, and there are plenty of excellent colleges in the Philadelphia area in which you will receive an amazing education that is worth the money (Temple, etc.) I feel as though this university prides itself on being super diverse, but this is simply not the case whatsoever. This university seems as though it has become a breeding ground for liberals to push their values and judge opposing values in the classroom, which is ok to an extent, but sometimes it simply is not appropriate. If you appreciate smaller, unknown universities, then it's most definitely for you. Arcadia looks good when you see the campus architecture, but the academics simply do not hold up at all. I absolutely regret going here, and from what I've heard from my peers, they'd say the same.
Liz - 11/01/2019
The experience that students will have at Arcadia University is highly dependent on the major/ department of the student. It's a small place; even the most powerful departments are by no means large. This can be frustrating, or it can work in one's favor. In the History and Political Science department, this is a benefit, as students have the opportunity to have close relationships with professors and join in projects with them. Some departments-- English, for example, are also small and give students the opportunity to get to know professors, but have less research initiatives and few projects that students can work on.
Yaliuska - 10/28/2019
Arcadia is a small campus and perfect for those who don’t want to go to a big school in the middle of a city but want to take trips into the city. The classes aren’t very large and the professors I’ve had, try to help every student as much as they can.
Delaney - 10/24/2019
I've overall enjoyed my time here at Arcadia. The professors not only know what they're talking about, but they're often kind and willing to work with you if you're having trouble with something. Class sizes are small, but it allows for interesting discussions. There's a lot of different clubs (slightly over 60, if I remember right), and people are very friendly. Like, if you're carrying a package out of the mail room, there's a good chance that someone entering is going to hold the door open for you. My only complaints are that my freshman dorm had mold in the A/C and my current on-campus apartment had mold grow over the summer when a pipe burst in the ceiling, but both times, it was fixed it within a day or two and didn't come back. So if you're a hard-working student looking for a comfortable place to go to college, I'd definitely recommend coming here.
Jill - 09/04/2019
I love Arcadia University. It has been a welcoming place filled with great opportunities. If you want to study abroad? Go here. If you want a small yet diverse school? Go here. If you want to be challenged but not murdered by academics? Go here. This school is the perfect suburban setting that sets you up for the future.
Madelyn - 07/26/2019
Arcadia is a university that prides itself on inclusivity. There are tons of clubs to join and if you want to create a new one it's fairly easy. The campus overall is super small but beautiful albeit could stand for some renovations. There are also amazing study abroad programs and they'll send you pretty much anywhere in the world.
Thomas - 07/23/2019
The standard of the university went down significantly. On top of that, there are a lot of internal politics. The teaching style of the biology department and the chemistry department is pathetic. Premed students, please stay away from organic chemistry professor Linda Mascavage. The organic chemistry class pretty much only focus on spectrometry. It feels like that is the only topic she is good at. She also shows partiality towards organic chemistry research students (extra time for exams and lab). The advisors are below average and usually misguide students. The advisor's office is across the research lab and we have heard advisors sharing sensitive student information with others. They even call other professors to not to give recommendations letter for grad school. That's why I said there is a lot of internal politics within the college. The biology department is short-staffed. There are a couple of good professors but in general, the professors are not good enough. There is this professor (Dr. Landberg), he gives exam question a day ahead and students have to come up with the best answers. 50% of the class skip most classes and show up on the day before the exam to get the question. Most of them work with other students and get a good grade. Dr. Landberg mostly talks about his research with the animal planet and about snapping turtles. It's a complete waste of money. When I took the class close to 8 students complain about his class and partiality (grading) to the dean. They warned him but like Linda Mascavage, he started to threaten all of us. I am not sure if people take this seriously but there is a lot of unethical things happening in those two departments. A year ago they plan to fire 14 professors including these two professors but the new president overruled the decision. They still work there and I am pretty sure that they are still doing unethical stuff.
The food is pretty decent. The security of the campus is good too. They have clubs and other activities but it is not that prominent compared to other colleges. Drug use is pretty common but not on campus but on-campus and off-campus housing. Class size is small and that helps a lot with research opportunities. Lab equipment is old and outdated. To be honest, the community college of Philadelphia has better lab equipments than Arcadia. In general, it is an average school with all these problems that no students want to share.

It's a fun, well developed, and an accessible campus that has a lot going on! There is never anything that would make you feel bored or left out. There are all different types of cultures and ethnic backgrounds at Arcadia and everyone is friendly and likes to get to know one another!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Arcadia University is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Dear Kiara- I know you are stressed about your future right now. Heck, you've always been stressed about your future and that's not a character trait that is likely to change. However, it might sooth you to know that you are making the right choices. Life is takng you where you need to be, even if the path is unexpected. I know that right now you are really only concerned with the 'Big Name' schools. They look good to employers, but are they what you need? You choice in education should not be based on a name. It should be based on the school that will give you the most it can. Yes, Big Name School X and Y can give you a pretty diploma with their names scrawelled in cursive next to their school seal, but believe it or not, Arcadia University will end up providing for you more than you can ever imagine. Stop thinking about schools based on how they will look to others and start thinking about what they can do for you. Besides, the big name schools cost a fortune anyways! Would you rather have debt or a school that helps you grow?
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Arcadia is a university that not only provides a diverse and caring community but it also provides the environment in order to grow. College gives young adults the chance to mature and adapt to the world and Arcadia is one of the best Universities for that with students from around the country as well as other countries. Not only will one acquire a valuable education at Arcadia but one will also acquire knowledge about other countries and the people who live there. Arcadia University is one of the best study abroad universities in the country and I love it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about Arcadia is the lack of communication with faculty, staff, departments, and students. Most of the time, departments, faculty/staff, and students keep to themselves. If there is an issue, it takes a while for issues to be addressed. Not to say that the employees and student don't do their work, because they do, it's the lack of communication from department to department that causes issues.
Alot are very loud liberals who dont really know what they're talking about; theres alot of kids who havent really learned anything and just repeat things they've heard on tv; but there are some who are really great but its like any campus-theres good and bad students here.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Something that my school does that many other Universities do not is give its students personal attention. All schools claim they provide this, but Arcadia truly holds itself to that promise. There are so few students and the classes are so small, that you actually get to know your teacher and to them you are more than just another face in a large lecture hall. Teachers, advisors and even President Tobey Oxholm himself takes a personal interest in you and helps guide you towards the path that will help you accomplish your life goals.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known how difficult it is to become social when you do not live on campus. All of the extra-curricular activities I wanted to be involved in have meetings at 10 or 11 o'clock at night, and when you're a commuter student, you do not want to drive all the way to campus that late at night for a mere 20 minute meeting, only to have to drive all the way back home and get to sleep soon enough for class the next day.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
There is really no "type" of person that would not fit in here. There is a very diverse student body, and I am personally friends with many different kinds of people. My only concern would be for those looking for greek life. Arcadia does not tolerate any fraternities or sororities, and we do not have a football team. So if those are big determining factors Arcadia is not the best place for you.
Someone that is looking for a small personal environment, both academically and socially. You will make friends easily here and we have a very diverse mixture of students, considering there is such a small population. You will also build very good one on one relationships with professors which is extremely beneficial when receiving a college education.
I's a great school for study abroad. For example a freshmen preview in various locations nationally and globally. I would change the whole social life of the campus. It is lacking immensely. Too small. Whenever ever I say I go to Arcadia people ask me "what?" or "where is that?" basically no one has heard of it, unless you're a PT major. I spend my times in the dorm or the library. There is much to go anyways. Administration is ok. Hardly any school pride. Most frequent complaints: boring, food sucks, sports suck.
The classes are fairly easy at least for freshmen year. All the classes are small. They rarely exceed 25 students but it depends on the class and departments such as bio, chem etc. The teachers so far have been nice. They know their students names and they offer individual attention. Students study sort of but the majority study the most during finals. Not very competitive between students. Arcadia doesn't have too high of standards academic wise. Not too challenging. If you want a challenge and a good education go to a better well known school. The career development office is ok. Arcadia is more geared towards learning. You will have to work hard to get a job.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I think the stereotype for us is that we are not that social because we a so far away from other colleges, but that's not true. I think i heard we were geeky too since we had classes such as our harry potter class and graphic novels class.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
98% of students attending Arcadia University receive some sort of financial aid.
38% were awarded federal grants.90%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
