Bluefield State is a great college. My mother graduated from Bluefield State and my sister is graduating from Bluefield State this year. They are always helpful. I ended up having some problems my first couple of years, but it is better now. I always get answers to my questions. They are a good college. I have been going since fall of 2015 but I have had problems on deciding what I wanted to major in. Hopefully this time I found something that I would be interested in.

Marissa - 06/13/2019

It is a small campus with small class sizes. Friends are easy to make and the professors know my name. I’m not just a number. The courses are challenging and will definitely help me in my future career. It is easy to get around the campus and find where I need to go. There are lots of extra curricular activities available as well.

Tiffany - 09/17/2018

The school needs major work on how to handle financial responsibilities and some curriculum studies. This is my second college that I've attended in life and I was better at my last one. Bluefield State does well with accessibility to help and handling events but I personally do not like it.

Hope - 08/16/2018

I spent one semester as a student and absolutely hated it. The only reason I was a student in the first place is because the campus is only five minutes away from my house. The plus side to such a close campus is that I could live at home and had a support system close by. The downside is there isn't currently any on campus housing in the first place. Bluefield sucks, don't attend the college and definitely don't live here.

Do not withdraw from classes because you think you have found a job good enough to make a living. The reason being, is that if/when you lose that job then you will have nothing to fall back on to fix things. Getting another job will be difficult and will be a paycut. Finish and do well in your classes, so you can get your degree and live without the stress of what might happen.

  12. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I was a non-traditional student and it was an excellent choice for me. It transferred most of my credits from my Associates Degree. Classmates and I met in-person once or twice a week for over a year. We also had to take classes on-line. All of the professors came to our satellite location in Fredericksburg, VA. My advice for prospective students is to take advantage of programs like these especially if you are a working adult.

  13. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school would be they do not have very many options for scheduling. I have to work during school in order to provide for myself. It's hard when they don't have many options to help with your career.
