I am so glad to be a part of the Brenau community. It is refreshing to be a student at a school who is genuinely invested in your future and is willing to accommodate to the needs of individuals. The atmosphere is amazing- there are always opportunities to get involved in various clubs as well as organized community events.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT APPLY HERE! I would RATHER spend 1 million dollars buying back my own cut toe nails then spend money here. The academics are THE WORST. The teachers DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They will fail you if they don't like you, if you don't agree with them, or if you go above them. I literally got KICKED OUT because i asked my internship coordinator what the salary is for different OT settings, I told one girl she is good with kids and asked if her and her husband have children, and asked a black lady her ethnicity/heritage in my internship. The learning center tried to get me on ADHD MEDS and ANXIETY MEDS and kept pushing it WHEN i said I don't feel comfortable with it. They used every info that I told them against me. They would rather collect their paycheck and fail kids. They failed 7 people out of 33. GOOD LUCK IF YOU WANT TO KISS BUTT AND FEEL HORRIBLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

Brenau University is a toxic school, and my three semesters there have left lasting scars. The student body is immensely sexist and toxic, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and underperforming in class. Some of the faculty is strong, but not enough so to justify the prohibitive cost. Stay away, far away.

Brianna

I feel the Brenau University has a lot of opportunities for everyone there. I feel it does cost a lot of money to go and can be stressful having to worry about having to pay for it. I think the teachers at Brenau really do care for you and your academics but the cost is what hurts it.

Linda

Brenau is a great college. I love the fact that the professors and staff is always available daily. They respond to emails and phone calls when you need the teachers. They have wonderful staff in education department and financial aid as well. They are quick to help and guide me through certain activities and events. They text, call and email to check on you to make sure I am okay. They carry on conversations as if you are a part of their family. I love Brenau! I am a TIGER for life!

KaitLynn

Brenau is an amazing university. The staff and administration are here to help us during this pandemic and really enforce all of the rules to make sure we are safe. The community with all of the students is amazing. I was only on campus for two days and I already made plenty of friends.

Andrea

It's overall a great school with small class sizes that make it easier to learn and have a greater relationship with your peers and professors. The campus is beautiful and filled with historic statues. They are also a liberal school so it pushes you to be more creative than most other colleges.

Allyson

Brenau University is full of knowledgable professors who honestly care about your success. The historic campus is beautiful and has a lot of character. It is also located near the town square for good shopping and great eating. Class sizes range from 15-30 people which allows you to build a personal relationship with each professor. Professors are always willing to meet with you to help you navigate problems within and outside of the classroom. This campus also has newly renovated sorority houses and a very active Greek life. Although to gain the best experience of what Brenau has to offer, it is best to live on campus. It feels much safer to live on campus than some of the surrounding options and makes it much easier to make friends and be involved to make the best of your time while at Brenau.

elli

Brenau is a great school if you are looking for a small, homey environment. Going to school is something that makes me happy every day because of the people and community at Brenau. The teacher genuinely care about your success, so it is difficult to not succeed.

FELECIA

Brenau is awesome. I came to Brenau after I decided to go back to college. The experience has been nothing short of amazing. I have classes both on ground and online. My professors genuinely care about our education. Each profession that I have dealt with has been amazing! I was skeptical about going back, but this was the best decision I have made. The enrollment specialist took the time to help me and I have a success coach all through the process. I after I graduated this May, I have received help to help my find a job in my field. Even assistance with my resume. There are resources readily available to help. I look forward to going back this fall for the graduate program.

Sonya

Brenau has a beautiful campus and I can’t wait to start my freshman year in the fall. I’ve gotten a chance to talk to some students who go there and they have all told me wonderful things that helped me make my decision to attend Brenau University! Go Golden Tigers!!

Brinae

Brenau University is an exceptional school, with great courses, excellent teachers and a friendly student body, however, it could be improved in many ways. For instance, a notable difference on campus is diversity. This is a predominantly white institution, so there is a majority of white students on campus than black or international students which is a different dynamic to grasp for incoming minority students. Moreover, there is an overall dislike for the Dining Hall which is known as, the gag for their unseasoned and uncooked food. Furthermore, another setback is the campus life as Brenau University has strict quiet hours, implement a dry campus and don't allow parties which make students travel to other colleges and clubs to party and socialize.

Rebecca

I started my journey over 2 years ago and I am pleased to say that I have grown mentally through my studies. I have been taught the importance of a healthy study habit and been very successful. Brenau University is a great place to obtain you dreams through a degree.

Chassy

Brenau is an accredited school that charges for it's name. The history behind the school is wonderful, but the reality is that its barely getting by. The teachers in the nursing program seem to be professionals that were let go from their fields. They're chaotic, unorganized, and more the occasionally, rude. Now even the worse schools have staff that are diamonds in the rough, and Brenau is no different. There are staff members that are wonderful, but unfortunately, you won't encounter them often in the classroom. The facilities themselves are falling apart. They're just old. The science building for example, has minimal heating and air, one functioning bathroom for the whole building (for both sexes to share), and the water is always brown from the rusted pipes, not to mention undrinkable. They're newest building is not state of the art, but it is much nicer than the rest of campus. Unless you're in the pre-med program though, you probably won't ever see how nice it is. The student population is as friendly as any other, and it is right downtown. Anything you could need, you can get with a short walk or drive, which is nice. Overall, it's overly priced, with the benefit of enjoying the company of your classmates while you teach yourself.

Courtney

I absolutely love the academics! The teachers as well as the students are very helpful and often tend to the ones that need extra help. Because we are a smaller school, we have smaller class sizes, so the teacher-student ratio is not at all overwhelming. I feel like I can personally get to know my professors, and lectures with fewer people helps me feel more comfortable to ask questions. Overall the programs are well-equipped and each program has a well-staffed team to educate the students. I couldn't imagine not being anywhere else but at Brenau University.

  20. What do students complain about most?

What any students complain about...money. The prices of books and tuition are always hot topics, but they're state regulated so it's not NAU's fault. Another common complaint here, the weather :D It snows almost half the year! You get used to it though. Another one I've heard is the size of the campus, but they offer free shuttles all day and you can rent a bike free for a couple weeks at a time so they really try to help out with that. Or you walk almost everywhere like me...I've been steadily losing pounds since I moved up here and it's fantastic!

  21. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

The typical NAU stereotype is known as a "mountain man". This meaning, a beard, a comfy flannel, someone who loves hiking and also being out doors. The stereotype of students here at NAU is extremely accurate! However, this doesn't apply to all students, just like every other college, everyone is different in their own way. :)
