The school is just breath taking with all the greening and all the different types of buildings there just breath taking. It’s truly is one beautiful campus. With you also stepping food into the campus you will be a good workout with all the stairs and enjoy the amazing views.

California State University of San Marcos is the best school I could have gone to. It is like it was meant to be. I just happened to end moving to the area after visiting 10 years prior. The facilities are clean. The faculty is friendly as well as knowledgeable. It is important for students to understand the vitality of their email access.
The university divides up into smaller colleges. This is very intelligent, because it allows separate colleges to be looked after. There are many fun events here, and the vibes are wonderful from people.
The dormitories are expensive and are probably primarily used by out of state students. More apartments are being built around, but those are probably going to be pricey. However, the Sprinter train runs all throughout the North County area and stops right on campus! Students can also obtain discounted Sprinter passes.
I am very grateful I get to attend this school. They offer certificate programs that are manageable with school schedules due to flexibility. The arts building is always filled with student projects on display. Always a good feeling going through there. So many events happen which teach so much!
The student life here is positive. Students love to hit the coffee bars and find a nice spot on campus to study. The library and tech labs also allow student usage late at night which is excellent. The security here is good and sketchy people don’t hang around the campus. The school takes an active role in denouncing hatred and uplifting groups that need support. They have all these special rooms that students who identify with or are just curious about may enter.
Go Cougars!!!

Cal State San Marcos has a close ache feel, close to high school but also large enough to where you see different faces on campus everyday. We are not Pac-12 or Big-10 school but I am so happy with my decision to study at CSUSM! The classes are a perfect size and the teachers are very resourceful. It is a great school to attend.

CSU San Marcos is overall a great school. The campus is nice and spacious, always clean. It's also nice they have a few coffee shops on campus to keep us all caffeinated. Mostly locals attend the school but theres some you'll find who are from all over the world. I've only been there for a semester so far but I can definitely say everyone is very friendly, and helpful. There is also been some fun events that everyone can attend. Teachers were great my first semester. Some are kind of fast paced but office hours are helpful. This upcoming semester I checked "rate my professor" for the marketing teachers and was unfortunately disappointed. There were about only 2-3 marketing teachers and they all had terrible reviews. So I'd be careful if you have a marketing major like me. Food on campus is okay, the best spot is Panda Express or WOW cafe. They do have some vegetarian options which is nice since I do not eat meat. Its pretty simple to find yourself around campus once you get the hang of it but there is quite a lot of stairs. At least you'll be getting some exercise.

Simply amazing.

Cal State San Marcos it’s a really good school. It’s not a ver big one and does not have a football team so sometimes there’s a lack of spirit. I love the school colors and dorms are expensive, just like any other dorms at other schools. Class sizes are not too big so there’s close opportunity for interactions with teachers. There’s a lot of events for students which makes the college experience a lot more fun and enjoyable.

It's a nice campus but because it's fairly new they have yet to begin making a name for themselves or establishing sports teams etc. There's no meal plan or that many healthy options on campus but other than that I have no complaints. The housing is really nice, but extremely expensive it would be cheaper just to find an apartment off campus.
Mia
Excellent school for commuters! There are plenty of resources and events for students both academically and socially. Art is widespread across campus, as well as community involvement opportunities. The Veterans Center, USU, and Kellogg Library all host plentiful events to help students stay on track for graduation while getting involved in the Cougar Blue spirit.
Julianna
I have enjoyed attending college here. I feel safe and always find help when I need it!

CSUSM is a new university so I do not compare it to many of the other Universities in California. This school has taught me to be independent, responsible, and be more intellectual. I would rate this school a 10/10. Many would complain about the school, but I am proud of being a cougar!

The 4 year university called California State University San Marcos is great. The first time I visited in junior year I knew right away I loved it. The campus was new and bright and just my place. It wasn’t far from San Diego and wasn’t in the middle of a busy city. I liked how the school is only around a decade old and most of our building are newer. The diversity is large and the weather is nice. After finding the housing and taking a tour, I discovered that I would have 7 roommates. That was great for me since I knew I wanted a large group of people to already know when I first started out. All in all I am pleased with California State University San Marcos.

It’s a beautiful school with beautiful people and I really want to go there one day! The students respect one another and they are all helpful to each other which I love the most.

CSUSM is a great university for students looking to work closely with their professors. The small class sizes makes it easier to build connections with classmates and professors as well as ease the transition from high school to college. Although the university is known as a commuter school, there is still ample opportunities to meet others on campus through intermural sports, academic clubs, and school events. This is a great campus for students looking to make strong connections during their academic career.

There are many possibilities for careers out of my major of Mathematics, the two careers
I have planned for myself to be prepared for mostly is being a Middle or High School Teacher, and also being a Statistician. My major is mostly aimed towards being a High School teacher and that is what I am shooting for but my backup plan is to become a statistician which my major also prepares me for. I am also considering minoring in Spanish which will allow my possibilities for careers expand as well and give me more options for what I would like to do.
There are many steps a teacher may need to take to get to that field of work. First you
will need four years of schooling to receive a Bachelor’s Degree, then you need a completion of a teacher preparation program and supervised experience in teaching, which is typically gained through student teaching. Then you are ready for a background check and then the general teaching certification test that demonstrates your knowledge on the subject you are interested in teaching. This process can be different among states but my plan is to teach in California so that is my path at this moment. For Statisticians the route is a little bit different, Statisticians typically need a master’s degree but some entry-level positions may accept candidates with a bachelor’s degree. To land a job in a more effective way it is recommended to take as many math courses as possible.
As my goal being a High School teacher my career will be to prepare students for life
after graduation and educating them more on the subject of math. During this job there is many duties to fulfil, I will be planning lessons, assessing students, testing students, grading, communicating with parents, and preparing students for standardized test. Also being a teacher I will also have to attend staff meetings and other meeting relating to my subject of teach. As a Statistician I will be applying or developing statistical methods to collect and organize numerical data to provide usable information. As people call it I will be the people who “crunch the numbers” so that the clump of numbers becomes an easier way to understand. An example of what I will be doing is if a basketball player has shot twenty-four of fifty-seven I will be the guy to quickly tell you that he has shot a fourth-two percent for the game.
The pay for a Statistician is different for the type of level you apply yourself at you can
earn anywhere from $46,500 to $130,090. The median pay for this job is $80,500. The pay for this job is great and if I were to pursue it it would be just like a teacher I would make more money as I continued to stay with that career. For a High School teacher the average pay $59,170. That does not seem like the greatest number but at twenty-three years old I am sure I will be loving that number and from there all it can do if I stay to my goal of retiring as a teacher the number will only go up.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for California State University-San Marcos is 51%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
A.J., you have one more year left of high school. You have made it this far. Do not quit now. You have been doing exceptionally well in all of your classes. Now it's time to step it up. Make sure you not only pass all the classes this year, but also take as much information from past classes to feed your brain. This will help you in deciding what you want to do in life and select your major. You want to start your college life quickly. Once you get accepted to the college you want to go to, do not hesitate to sign up for classes as soon as they open up for you. Make school a priority. I know friends, parties, get togethers, etc. are fun, but you have to focus. You will always have time for that. Get good grades in college. This will help you in qualifying for scholarships or even get you recognized to receive them. College is expesive, but if you get these good grades, you might get through college for free. Remember to be the best you can be and just have fun. All your hard work will pay you back.
CSUSM is a small campus, so you'll see some of the same people in your classes. Most classmates are energetic to be at college. We are all there for a higher education. It's voluntary to be there, as many professors say. So if you're in class, you WANT to learn, and take the information to your profession. People are friendly. I talk to many of my classmates in class and some have invited me to go out to lunch with them. Cal State San Marcos is a friendly campus.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Because there are an influx of science majors, enrolling in a science related course, like physics, chemistry, or biology, is next to impossible, and becasue I have transferring credit, but can't enroll in even a single science course, I am slowly running out of general education courses and run the risk of having to take classes that i don't need.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I love that the school is fairly new. The campus is beautiful and the surrounding neighborhood is as well. We have so much access as far as computers, the vast library and the class size. Those factors make it desirable to me rather than your mega campus state schools.
