Many students in dorms leave their doors open and it's a very friendly environment. There are a lot of groups and student organizations on campus. I am involved in the Belly Dance Club and it's a great way to meet other students and stay active at the same time. Greek Life is not huge but it is present and it's another great way to meet other girls and be active in philanthropic events.

I am not very involved on campus anymore, since I am graduating in a month. But greek life is definitely not a prevailing aspect of the social scene. The organizations are there, and their memberships are strong, but students by no means feel the need to be greek in order to fit in.
People always party, just like at every other school in America...

Activities at CofC are as good as you make them. Being in such a vibrant city, activities on campus are more of an option than a requirement on campus. There are such a variety of organizations that its easy to find one to fit into and that has your interests. Even if there isn't, the process of starting up your own group is simple! There is a great social and you can always find something to do whether it involves drinking or not. CofC has events planned every Friday night to give an alternative fun Friday for those that don't like the party scene. Greek life is a great addition to the CofC campus but one that isn't the majority of students. It's a great option for meeting friends but you can meet many through various other activities as well!

I think the most popular groups on campus to join are the greek organizations. Sororities and fraternities are very active on campus, and it has definitely helped me to get involved in mine. I am usually busy with school and work during the week, then I go out and have fun on the weekends. Last weekend a friend came into town so we ate a lot of good Charleston food, shopped, and went out on Market Street Saturday night.

I think that there are enough clubs on campus that everyone can find someone. However, if you are not a partier there is not much to do on the weekend. Sporting events are not very popular here. Frats and sororities are not something that is very important but if you are in one, it is awesome!

Greek Life on campus is great, but it is not a HUGE part of campus life. There are people who party everyday of the week and there are people who never party. It just depends on the lifestyle of the student. There are so many interesting things offered on and off campus culturally, socially, and religiously.

If you're awake at 2am on a Tuesday, you are either studying, playing videogames, watching a movie, or doing something similar.
I met my closet friends in my Honors dorm. I have also met some of my friends in my sorority, but I am a pretty new member and it does not take up all of my time. I try to spend time with different people. Sororities are about 8{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body.
On a Saturday night, besides drinking, you can spend time going to events offered by the Cougar Activities Board, art events, movies in dorms and that type of thing.
SGA (student government), CofC Radio, Charleston 40 (the tour guide club) and the student paper are all big clubs. There are tons more though.

most popular groups= sga, greek organizations, athletics
I'm involved in Kappa Delta sorority.
I wish more students went to athletic events on campus. I wish we had a FOOTBALL TEAM!
2am on a Tuesday...probably hanging out or studying.
People party about 3 times a week (thurs, fri, sat...maybe tues)
the greek life isnt huge here, but it does involve some really great students.
off campus we got to the beach, go shopping, go boating, enjoy charleston!

There are many clubs and there is one to fit every kind of person. You meet some people in your dorm, but most people you meet are in the nightlife. If you are awake at 2am on Tuesday you are either at a friends house or walking home from the library. If its 2 am on a friday or saturday your stuffing your face at Gilroy's pizza or Pita Pit. There are many things to do from movies, bars, parties to organizations that rent out facilities that do not involve alcohol.

Greek Life is popular. Athletic events are gaining popularity, but weren't in the past. I met my closet friends through rushing a sorority...neither of them stayed in the process but we are still really close friends.
Last weekend I went on a conference in Atlanta, GA with a school organization.
On a saturday night, you can go to plays, go to a concert, go to a great restaurant, go to the beach, etc.
