The atmosphere is just amazing. The campus is picturesque and absolutely gorgeous. I also like the smaller classes. It makes it seem much more personal.

CUNY Brooklyn College serves as a backup option for me primarily due to its neuroscience program, which offers an interdisciplinary minor involving both the Psychology and Biology departments. This program aligns with my academic interests and provides a solid foundation in the field. Additionally, the Brooklyn College Neuroscience REU Program presents valuable research opportunities that I find appealing. Beyond academics, the campus life is vibrant, with over 120 clubs and organizations, including cultural and recreational groups, fostering a strong sense of community. However, as a commuter school, the campus experience might lack the residential community aspect found at other institutions. Enhancing on-campus housing options could significantly improve the sense of community and make Brooklyn College a more attractive choice for me.

It is overall a nice college if you like a cheap degree. Faculty could be very apathetic but there are a lot of events and opportunities here. college wood and wifi are of lower quality than I hoped. It is usually more worth it to go outside. Students and professors are nice but it is just the faculties who actually work there that are awful. Certain professors act completely unaccepted but nothing happened.

I loved Brooklyn College and very happy with my choice to transfer there. It is a very affordable school with great resources. I absolutely loved the small class sizes, the library, and the events on campus. I felt like I was getting a great education for a very low price. Additionally, the campus is beautiful and clean. There is also a great variety of classes with fantastic professors. I am very satisfied with this school.

I attended CUNY Brooklyn from the Fall of 2015 to the Spring of 2017, majoring in Computer Science. During my time at BC I found it to be an incredibly welcoming school, with a diverse student body and professors who went out of their way to assist me in my academic endeavors.
If you live off campus, like I did, commuting to the school is incredibly easy from almost anywhere in the city. The 2 and 5 trains stop just a block away from campus. My commute central Brooklyn was at most 20 minutes, and later, when I moved to Harlem, the 2 train was a straight shot that allowed me to get some reading in or finish a last minute assignment.
I attended mostly evening classes and I always felt safe on campus. Gated entrances and ID checks ensured only students were on campus, and its relatively compact size and well-lit walkways meant I never had to walk far from class to class.
Dining on campus was the usual college commissary faire. I probably ate on campus half the time, the other half going off to one of the many fast food restaurants or delis. The types of lunch dining off campus are quite varied, and I could always find something new to try if I was in the mood.
Finally, I had an extremely favorable academic experience at BC. Almost all of my professors were very good teachers, helping me understand and really absorb the material. The majority of them were also available multiple times a week for office hours, and several would gladly stay after classes to answer additional questions I had about the material. The library and computer lab facilities were very clean and modern, and staffed with knowledgeable and friendly people who could always answer my questions.
I had to move out of NYC in 2017 so I unfortunately did not get to finish my degree at BC, but to this day I miss it and am glad I was able to attend. I highly recommend it to any incoming freshman or transfer students.

I may not know much about this college yet, but I have high hopes because this school will be the guide to my future. I have visited the college several times and I am very pleased to see the activities and students walk past the hallways. I hope to visit the campus once again sooner.

Brooklyn College is a very big commuter school, so if you are from outside of New York City it might be a hard adjustment. It is very academically focused, but the professors are great. There is no on campus housing or meal plan. The food around is average, but can get old after awhile.

Often referred to as the poor man's Harvard, these classes will put you through the ringer and never look back. Do not expect a lot of hand holding at this bare-bones CUNY institution, but expect to take away a significant education that is decidedly more comprehensive than similar coursework offered at more expensive private schools.

This school is horrendous. The only thing that is really beneficial is the low tuition but then again you'll find the same at any Cuny school, especially if you're an in-state resident. The room and board cost about 20,000 dollars which is way more than you pay for tuition so it isn't very inclusive. If you go to a department with a question expect to be transferred to ten different departments before you get an answer. Some of the Professors couldn't care less they aren't punctual with grades, don't have office hours nor do they respond to emails. The school isn't well kept there are times where we go without heat or water throughout an entire hall. The library computers break down constantly especially now that they are updated to "windows 10". The Boylan hall cafeteria barely has any options and the food is severely underseasoned and tragically overpriced. Nothing from that cafeteria ever tastes good and the place is always crowded even at 8 in the morning. Just please save your money and time and go else where it seems like a nice convinent school but it is a place full of nightmares.

It is a great college to attend, lots of different majors to choose from. There are many clubs you can join or even create your own club. The WiFi service is awesome; the campus is safe and beautiful, located in a safe part of Brooklyn. There are lots of restaurants near by and there is also a cafe on the campus. Many shops like target, home goods, vitamin shoppe etc right outside of campus. Teachers are communicative and helpful. Students are social and friendly. Many job opportunities available on campus.

I chose Brooklyn College, because it was affordable and very close to home. With that said, it was hard to meet others who were from a different state or country. What's disappointing about the school is, there isn't really much of a social life on campus unless you were a part of a sports team (fortunately I was). So a typical day for a student here is class, maybe hang with friends, then go home? At least that's what I did when basketball season was over. I somewhat enjoyed my 1 year here, but unfortunately I transferred out. Also I wished there would be more diversity in food such as authentic Asian food or something.

I just started so I can’t give an accurate opinion about everything, but I can say that overall as a student at Brooklyn College, I can personally say that I love both the education and the environment. Students and staff are all happy and welcoming, the campus is beautiful, and classrooms are kept neat enough for comfort. Even the restrooms are properly maintained and clean. It’s a nice college to anyone looking for a small, peaceful, welcoming school centered around making its students better people. I also like the great diversity in this college, as a muslim girl I never feel I’m a stranger.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
As an adult student re-entering college life, I would have only one thing to say .
I would tell myself that a career is not about what money you are able to make in any chosen profession, nor is it about acquiring prestige.
The only way to have a fulfilling and joyful life, which our chosen career is a large part of, is to offer the best part of ourselves to the world.
The career that makes us feel satisfaction at the end of the day...the one that makes us feel as if we can make a difference in our world...is the path we should always choose.
My classmates were extremely diverse in many ways; they come from different backgrounds, social statuses, are of different ages, and can therefore bring a new and interesting perspective of the things we discuss in class.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about the school is the availability of campus shuttle and the availability work and intern experience opportunities given to students due to having to meet requirements.
Anyone who is interested in furthering their education should attend this school. Brookly College has a large selection of majors and minors to select from to accomadate eveyone's needs and it is very diversed.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Someone who wants a small school. Also almost all professors do not allow for makeup exams or extra credit assignments and alot of professors do not curve.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known about the Hillel, for me as a Jewish student I got to meet so many people there and they have great programs. The importance of reaching out to professors visiting them during office hours, even if I don't need help, just establishing a relationship. Also the campus has great resources for all kinds of stuff, find out about them and take advantage. Go to Magner Center your first year, don't wait until you're a junior or senior before you start planning for graduation.
There are classes that consist of 30- 150 students in a lecture. This semester I was lucky enough to have picked great professors that really dissects the topics in class.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I keep hearing how there's no student life. Not True. The thing some of the clubs have rooms but they're in diff places on campus. Quite frankly there's been so many events on campus that I have been busy almost every week. It's just a matter of students not being lazy and getting out there and meeting people. As for parties, there's plenty of good packed parties during the semester, just no alcohol served.
The big picture is kinda what my mom always told me. You get out of school what you put into it. If you put in the time and effort into your academic and social life at Brooklyn you will get a lot back.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
No way. the campus is getting better. The library is top shelf and i can't wait to see whats in the new building thats almost done. Plus I have to say that everyone who is active on campus gets recognized for their efforts. Student gov looks like its getting more diverse.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I'm one of those "scoff in the face of stereotypes" kind of people because I hate labels. Unless they're binder labels because those are really helpful. Anyhow, Brooklyn College has them all. Except for the jocks! Our jocks are pretty academically oriented (the PC term for geeks, okay!). There's a lot of competitive pre-med/pre-health students, the artsy English/Theatre/Music people and the outspoken, well-red philosophy lot. Since we're a commuter campus, we congregate mostly with those we have classes with and are less aware of the other departments. So most of our stereotypes are less personality based and more academic based.
