I think that York college is a good place to learn. With this pandemic I miss going to campus and being able to learn face to face. However online classes at York are extremely helpful and accessible to students. They send out weekly updates and professors are very caring.

When I transferred over to CUNY York, I was surprised with how they handled the transfer credits and how the faculty were ready able to assist with any questions or concerns I had in regards to the academic program I was enrolled in. There is always a multitude of aid that can be found between classes, instructors, tutors and office hours! Even between students, there are study groups usually formed to challenge the work in the course. I do not regret transferring and meeting the faculty, staff, and students whom are at CUNY York!

I think York college is a very good college. The professors are great. They really care about you and drive you to be excellent. There are many extracurricular activities that are available. The classrooms are spacious and they have a lot of new technologies that makes the classroom experience a lot more innovative for the professors and students.

York College is good school for those who enjoy the city life. Its location is perfect for shopping, eating or casual stroll. The faculty are amazing and they're always willing to help you reach your academic goals. It just needs a little it more renovation, otherwise, awesome.

Average school. People just go to do classes and leave. Not really a typical college life. However It isn’t a bad college. The area around it is sort of bad, but it’s nothing to worry about. There are sports, but not really talked about throughout the school. Lots of food options on Jamaica ave. Close to mass transit. Come here if you just want to go to school and go home. Not really trying to party and have the typical college life.

It’s definitely an ok college to attend but they need to add a few more majors to the college. They also need more professors with lighter personalities. I’m not saying your there to be our friends but you can still be approachable and less demanding.

Even though I am a student at York College, during my formative years as a pre-teen I attended the summer camp at York College. Such experiences allowed me to learn the value of exercise , nutrition and building my self efficacy. For two consecutive summers I made changes for my life by loving myself and being proud of being active and not being a couch potato. I am proud to be a student of York College CUNY because now I am learning how to be a Health Professional to my community, and inspire individual each day as I walk on campus.

CUNY York College is very diverse. There are so many cultures and backgrounds. Every month, the school hosts events to make students feel interested and amazed. Also, they are varieties of clubs available for students to join. Such as, the dance/music club, African society association, anime club, Caribbean association, and much more. However, the services York College provide needs a bit of improvement. I believe that most of the advisers do not keep up with their promises they said they would. For example, deliver helpful suggestions and advice. In addition, some professors I have taken for their class so far, were not the best experience. They were frequently unavailable or unreachable. (some were volunteering on their free time and do not have office hours). The escalators have not been working since I attended the school and the bathroom stalls are mostly unclean and smells disturbing. I had a few experiences where the temperature in the building was either too hot or too cold. ( the air and heat vents was hardly under control). But, the programs and majors are eye catching and can guarantee you a great career and future. The programs are based on medical, science, and health field which open doors for a lot of opportunities for students that want to attend graduate school. I would say it is extremely competitive to get in but as long as I stick to it and continue to stay motivated I can make the best out of it and this school.

My first impression about CUNY York College was awful school. From what I heard and from what I personally thought about the college was overall terrible. The main reasons for my awful opinion was because of its location, the community of students, and its low academic ranking compared to other CUNYs. Despite that, when I arrived on campus in the fall of 2017 I warmed up to York. For one, the class size of 10-30 is a great plus. Since I originally came from a small high-school I was comforted by the small class size. Moreover, the architecture of the building is amazingly phenomenal as well. I personally love looking out of the large windows and seeing the broad range of Jamaica. I found appreciation for the beauty of my city once again. Lastly, the and calming atmosphere is a great plus. Everyone I have communicated with were genially nice and helpful. It is quite rare to feel uncomfortable or stressed when talking to someone because most people in CUNY York College are very humble. Overall, I believe CUNY York College is misunderstood. Even though the school doesn't have superb academics or the cleanest restrooms, the community overall is quite welcoming and productive.

I love it! I feel like I belong here! York College is really determined to push me toward reaching my calling and they never try to be slick or hold anything back on me. I also have to say that many of the students are really nice, so it was quite easy for me to make some friends or at least someone that I know I can talk to. This is really great!

When I first attended york I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do now. I really like the environment and the class sizes that are offered. Sometimes I stay in the buildings hours after my classes are done because I do very much enjoy being in the school. The professors are very helpful and fun to be around and I appreciate their dedication and effort.

It's a great school very convenient close to all public transportation. Classes are small and students are very friendly. I would recommend York College to others because of his location and logistic. They offer many different programs and continued professional certificates. The opportunities are there it's up to you to take advantage of all that's available.

York college is considered a senior school among the CUNY schools for how long it has been around. Even though it is located in a noticeably difficult neighborhood the environment of York is primarily academically focused. From the inside, individuals can see that even though each student has their own set of ordeals at play, they are not apathetic or quick to dismiss anyone in need of assistance. The scene at York is very much involved in both academia and down time. Finals week is always a time where the alumni get together and do study sessions in almost every corner of the campus. Down time during exams week is not hard to find given that the student organization, TRIO or another type of association/ club hosts a variety of events to help students ease their stress as a way of being more functional and focused during these difficult times of exams. Overall, York is an academic forward college and great for those looking for a friendly, academic forward , and comfortable environment.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The best advice that I could give to myself or anyone going into college is that college is no game. High school was fun and you were able to fool around a little and make friends, but that was then and college is now. You need to leave that high school mentality behind, because if you take college too lightly it will most likely hurt you in the end. As long as you keep your priorities in order and make time for yourself for leisure, you should be fine and have a great college experience.

The thing i found most frustrating at York college is student service offices. Before anything students have to deal with admission office, financial office etc. but in my opinion they are serving a very poor quality job. Their main goal should be to give accurate imformation and also helpibg new students coming to college but mostly there are fights outside offices with office stuff and students. This ruins the whole environment and also draws a bad reputation for the college
