What should every freshman at Drew University know before they start?

When looking at colleges, it's important to think about the person you might become, not just who you are as you prepare to go to college. You will go through so many changes. You'll change interests, be interested in different people, and find new hobbies. Choosing a school that let seems to be within your range of comfort is no guarantee that you will be happy there. Take a few risks and learn as much as you can.

I would advice parents and student to at least visit the school twice. See if the students actually fit in. Also to sit in classes and also stay overnight. Eat the food in the dinning hall and talk to students in different places they meet and see what they feel about it.

The advice that I would give to students is that finding the right college and making the most out of your college experience is what will create memories that will last your entire life. Finding the right college is more than just searching online or taking a campus visit. It is also a process that brings you closer to your family. Parents will always have the best intentions in mind for you, and remember students, they have been through the entire college process and understand it better then we do. Listen to the opinions your parents have and let them be active in helping you pick what college is right for you. I promise you it will be a good, character building experience, and it will bring your family closer together. In terms of making the most of your college experience, that is a must. College is not only meant to prepare you for the rest of you life, but it is a wonderful experience and if you do not make the most of it, you will regret it the rest of your life. Although college is challenging, enjoy it and make the most of every day you have.
