Eastern was a good school, and I generally enjoyed my time there. It is too expensive for what you get as a student. However, the professors are incredibly caring and the academics were outstanding. The campus is gorgeous and I loved the people I met. I genuinely feel like I got a good education, even though I'll be paying for it until I'm 90.

Eastern University's stated aims are "faith, reason, and justice:" they want their students to be religiously (or, if irreligious, ethically) centered, to think well, and to act for justice. For this reason, as Christian colleges go, Eastern has a reputation as something of a 'social justice school,' which from my experience is pretty warranted as far as the overall student and faculty culture, though not so much with regard to school administration. As a fairly small school with small class sizes, students in every major are typically quite close to their professors; sports are a big deal.

I love Eastern, the location is amazing and its just such a beautiful campus all around. If you're looking for a more family style college eastern is your choice. Everyone on campus knows everyone and you won't catch anyone not smiling or saying hello.

Eastern University is a small school. The people are amazing and kind. When I met the admissions counselors, they treated me like they wanted me here. I am learning so much about everything. My mind is being challenged and my faith is getting stronger in the process. The school also is so gorgeous. 4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known how accessible Eastern University was to Philadelphia (a 30 minute train ride or 40 minute drive), and the breadth of cultural events that I could be a part of in the city. I did not take advantage of the ease of accessibility to Philadelphia until my junior year, and I wished I had trekked into the city more when I was a freshman and sophomore.

It's a toss up between dealing with the financial aid office and lack of meal plan options. Eastern did all of the major stuff pretty well, but some of those smaller details were annoying every once in a while.

  11. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing is the amazing professors who we have as resources. In college we learn who we are and we are constantly changing and asking questions. At Eastern they encourage that and the professors are great resources for us to discuss things with, and though they do not tell you the answer usually they help you work through your thoughts. Plus most professors are very wise, genuine people who care about their students.

  14. What are the academics like at your school?

Admittedly the class selection nothing spectacular, certainly on par with the average, but nothing beyond that. What makes Eastern really stand out to me is laid back attitude of most of the teachers, they really seem to teach because they love teaching. Not because they realized too late that there was nothing else they could do with their degree.
