Fordham University is the perfect place for me to pursue my interests in business, real estate, and entrepreneurship. Its strong business programs, career opportunities, and location in New York City make it an ideal choice.
The Gabelli School of Business stands out because of its real estate and finance programs, which align with my career goals. I plan to start as a real estate agent and later invest in properties, and Fordham’s courses will give me the skills I need. Plus, the university’s connections with top companies will help me find internships and gain experience while in college.
Outside the classroom, Fordham’s clubs and activities will help me grow. The Real Estate Society and Finance Society will connect me with students and professionals who share my interests. Fordham’s focus on entrepreneurship is also a big draw since I already run a small baking business, Liah’s Sweet Treats, and want to keep developing my business skills.
Another huge advantage is Fordham’s location. Being in New York City means I’ll be surrounded by real estate and finance opportunities, which will help me get hands-on experience. I also appreciate Fordham’s Jesuit values, which emphasize leadership and ethics—important qualities for success in any career.
With its strong business programs, career resources, and great location, Fordham is the perfect fit for me. I’m excited about the possibility of learning and growing in such a dynamic environment.

Fordham University is a university that offers rigorous academics to their students and there are a lot of students involved on campus. There are over 60 clubs here and everyone is welcome to all of them, and I love the small classrooms Fordham offers. The community is very diverse and welcomes all their students and professors care for their students.

I've really enjoyed my time at Fordham University. I think that there are extracurricular/group activities and clubs for every interest and passion out there. On-Campus Housing is great, and the teachers are really accessible.

Fordham is a great place for students who either know exactly what they want to pursue, or who aren't sure yet. I found myself constantly being exposed to new classes, academia, and knowledge that helped guide me to the technology field. For my other classmates, Fordham was their safe space to explore and learn about different opportunities as well. I think Fordham is very inspiring, with teachers who are always available to help. As an alum, I still have a great bond with my past classmates and teachers.

It's pretty cool, the two different campuses gives you the best of both worlds, with a typical college experience and city life. Teachers are good for the most part. Location is a big plus and food options aren't the best but it's pretty good for the most part.

I have mixed feelings. Our rose hill campus is definitely better and more college feels. Our Manhattan campus is more city like.

I love Fordham! I just finished my freshman year there and can honestly say it was a great fit for me. The fact that it's in New York City cannot be understated. My friends and I were always in the city at least once a week and even with covid there was always something happening. Fordham is definitely a bar school considering how strict it is on campus and a good amount of people have been written up for at least one violation ("getting doc-ed"). Overall the school is good academically. I was an honors student in high school and took a bunch of APs and I think that Fordham is rigorous but not too much work. Class sizes are small and the professors are mostly great. Students tend to have mixed feelings about the core curriculum, but I enjoyed the core classes I took and it's part of Fordham's mission of creating a well rounded individual (cura personalis is their whole thing). A lot of students were raised Catholic but there's definitely a lot of openness to different religions but at the same time if you are a practicing Catholic there are lots of opportunities. The stereotype is that students lean conservative but I feel like a majority are more liberal although politics isn't a huge part of campus life. As for the neighborhood it's definitely not the safest but you absolutely cannot beat Pugsley's or Best Deli. Once you get to know the neighborhood youll feel way more at home. The party scene is mostly on weekends and like I said it's a bar school but there are a good amount of off campus parties. Obviously everything was different with covid. You can also go into the city on weekends which is always fun. There are tons of places my friends and I have discovered that are a great way to spend a saturday night. I think that at surface level, fordham does live up to some of its stereotypes, but you'll find there's a lot more to most of the kids that go here. Oh and the food really does suck.

The campus has a diverse student body. Students appeared involved in campus events and activities. There seems to be a wide variety of events to meet varied interests. They gave positive reviews of professors. The location and choice of two campuses is a real plus. The Ram Van is a service that helps students travel between the two campuses.

I attended Fordham University as a freshman, and let me give you my most honest opinion: while it is a decent and nice school, there are many negatives about this university that ended up forcing me to transfer to NYU, a much better university for my major. There are three reasons why I decided to transfer:
1. The main reason: The pre-med program here is just pure garbage; if you are coming here to do some sort of STEM major, then don’t even bother coming here. The professors are just adjunct professors who seem like they don’t want to be there. I had one lab Professor in my second semester who never spoke a word. You heard that right, not even a single word! We were lucky to have a graduate student helping our class, otherwise we were toast. Unless you are a business major and get into Gabelli, it’s not worth your time and money to come here. The Core curriculum is totally useless, as it makes you take so many classes that you don’t even need for your major.
2. As a commuter and minority student, it was very hard for me to fully adjust to the campus. There is a serious lack of diversity within the campus, as most people are white, upper middle class kids who come from Catholic schools. Most are also from the tri-state area. Pretty much all the students I know are Columbia or NYU rejects and decided to come here because they give a good amount of financial aid (one of the very few positives). The residents and commuters didn’t seem to mesh together very well either.
3. There are very few opportunities for internships or jobs, especially if you are a pre-med student. We pay thousands of dollars to this school, and yet they don’t have good access to jobs! Also, the food here is just horrible and I feel they should put more of our money into that.
Fordham definitely had some positives, as I was able to make good friends who definitely cared about doing well. However, there were just too many negatives that forced me to transfer.

Fordham University is a school of opportunity. Not only do students have the ability to explore different majors, but they also take part in multiple clubs and organizations. The overall community is very welcoming, and the population is diverse. My experiences here have been nothing but great, and I am hoping to make the best out of my next years at Fordham.

Fordham has been an exceptional institution in helping expand my perspective on a variety of issues. I attend the Lincoln Center campus, where students tend to be quite active politically, academically, and artistically. There are endless opportunities around the city to explore, and I'm grateful to get to attend a school with such passionate individuals!
Michele
Fordham University's biggest strength is that people think it's a good school. You'll come here and have the potential to meet some great friends. However, do not be fooled. You will not learn a single thing with any sort of practical, real-life application. Everything is hypothetical, and everything is based around social justice. If you care about social issues, this is the school for you. If you wanna graduate with valuable skills and knowledge, this is absolutely not the school for you.
In addition to that, Fordham's faculty is almost completely inept. I managed to go four years here without meeting an advisor because mine were always "on sabbatical". If you come to Fordham, you will have to figure out everything on your own. You WILL NOT have easy access to any faculty members (I don't mean teachers, I mean deans and whatnot)
However, if you love weed this is the school for you. Everybody is a huge stoner.
Marika
I love this school but the dining hall food isn't that good. The people at the Rose Hill campus are so much better than the people at the Lincoln Center campus. If you like a traditional college campus, then you should apply for the Rose Hill campus one instead.
Abigail
The administration sucks, but that's pretty much true everywhere. I'm a theatre performance major, and the theatre program here is great. Everyone is so supportive, much more than at other drama programs I've heard about. The academics are pretty satisfying for me as well, which is a huge plus. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Fordham University is a great school where I met many great people. It is not a big party school - people are often focused on school, work, and extracurriculars, although people do go out sometimes on weekends. There is a lot of intellectual conversation to be found and I made friendships there that will last a lifetime. The campus is very safe, and the surrounding area is okay. It is a quick and short train ride into Manhattan which is extremely convenient for either a night out or internships.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Fordham University is 45%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Having lived on the west coast in the suburbs my whole life, it was quite a change coming to new york city. But if you're a big fan of NYC, it’s definitely worth spending four years here, and the dorms are nicer than any apartment you’ll find in the city (you have a kitchen and a living room). Also, I can only speak for the Lincoln Center Campus here....the school is divided between two campuses so I really don't know much about the other one. Basically, don’t come here if you’re looking for the typical college experience. If you’re not from the tri-state area know what you’re getting into before you come to the city. You’ll have a lot more responsibilities than most college students, but also a lot more freedom. Prepare to learn how to be an adult and do things for yourself, because if you want the support group atmosphere of most college social scenes you can forget it. If you’re coming from far way (like I did) you better be independent and mature because no one’s going to hold your hand and baby you into doing stuff. You gotta learn how to manage money and stuff, too. I learned that pretty early. Overall it’s a good experience, I feel like I’ve become a stronger person academically and emotionally. It’s like they say, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere, If New York City doesn’t kick your ass nowhere will. Except maybe like Detroit. I hear Detroit kicks peoples asses.
The faculty is mostly helpful, with a few notable exceptions. Ask someone about a professor before you take a class so you know what you’re getting into. If you get into the honors program you should do it. You’ll work your ass off, but you’ll get a good education and it makes core alot easier to finish, as you’re pre-registered for classes.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Mostly I've really enjoyed my experience at Fordham. So, the only thing I really dislike is the food. It's pretty terrible, but there are a couple places on campus that're all right. The food in the Bronx and the city, on the other hand, is awesome (especially on Arthur Ave).
I think that the best thing is the location. As a communication major, I feel as if there is no better place to be than New York City. It is a business, arts, and sports capital, so this is the best environment for me.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
You should not attending this school if you cannot live peaceably with people who are very different from you, or if you would be put off by the hustle and bustle of New York City.
the Little Italy of the Bronx is right down the street. The campus is very beautiful and has been the set of several movies. Vince Lombardi went to school there.
Fordham's Rose Hill campus is located on Fordham Road in the Bronx. The surrounding area is poverty stricken. There are often muggings, but I haven't heard of anything very violent. If you travel in groups, it is usually safe off campus. It is not the best place to be alone at night. The Botanical Gardens and Bronx Zoo are right across the street and offer some beautiful sights. Fordham Road has tons of cheap shopping.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
91% of students attending Fordham University receive some sort of financial aid.
19% were awarded federal grants.55%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
