I’ve always loved being by the beach, and the idea of attending Galveston College feels like the perfect fit for me. Not only do I get to enjoy the relaxing vibe of living near the coast, but I also get to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse in a place that feels like home. Being in Galveston, where the beach is practically a part of everyday life, would be a nice balance of peaceful surroundings while I focus on my studies. Another big reason I’m drawn to Galveston College is that it allows me to be closer to my dad. Family is really important to me, and being able to live near him while I’m working toward my nursing degree would make a huge difference. I know having that support system around will help me stay grounded and motivated as I work through my classes and clinicals. The community vibe at Galveston College really stands out to me, too. It seems like the kind of place where I can connect with other students who share similar goals and values, while also having access to great nursing programs that will prepare me for the next step in my career. I’m excited about the opportunity to be part of a tight-knit community, both in terms of academics and life in Galveston. All in all, it just feels like a place where I can grow academically and personally, all while enjoying the beach and being close to family. I can’t think of a better environment to start my journey toward becoming a nurse.

More Sports and Art, we are on an Island and there's enough space and tourists to entertain. Virtually no competition. We have been rated the best campus in academics but there could be more whitecaps can do especially being that we are in a Historic Island of the United States. Diversity has been improving with added incentives if you graduate from local high schools and stay here, college is free. Unfortunately, I moved to the Island a Little too late to be considered a recent high school graduate of the Island or Texas, but all in all the campus is doing well - just needs consistency in academics and extracurricular activities.

Good school but didn’t have good experience with softball team, there was mice, mold, and holes in our apartments which sucked because I had to pay to live there and there seemed to be drama almost everyday. The maintenance crew took forever to fix our issues , I went about almost a month with no a/c one time .

It is a wonderfully supportive college where you can accomplish a great deal. The faculty are there to help you every step of the way. And should you ever need anything there are a variety of options to help you succeed. My years at Galveston College were some of the best years Ive spent in school so far.

Galveston College is great if you are only using it as a stepping stone. There aren’t many extracurricular activities so don’t get your hopes up. The nursing program is one of the best around and it’s very demanding. There is not much help from financial aid as far as applying for actual loans, but overall it’s a good college for a low income community.

It's a really great school. I love the facility and professors, as well as everything done for students (finals de-stress events, $3 movie nights, free tutoring, etc.) The majority of the professors are friendly and approachable and many of them give reasonable extra credit assignments. The only thing I really dislike is the general student atmosphere-- it's "college life" x "island life", so pretty much immorality and apathy on steroids. I haven't found anyone of virtue I can really connect with. But the beach view is nice.

Galveston College is a great school where the professors really want to help students succeed. They are always willing to help, and there are plenty of other resources for academic assistance, too! There is no on-campus housing, but the area is nice, and the school facility itself is great as well. One of the nice things about it is that once you're inside, you can get from one building to another without having to go through the parking lot, which can get distinctly puddle-like when it rains. There are great activities to get involved in, too... clubs for almost any interest and frequent opportunities for things like discounted tickets to sports events or new movies. The only thing I would change is that I sometimes feel like many of my fellow students are less serious than I when it comes to academics -- I want to put in my best work and earn nothing less than an A, and keep hearing advice about how to reduce effort and pass the classes.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Galveston College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior and knowing what I know now about college life and making the transition the advice I would give myself is not to stress. I would tell my senior self that yes college is different from high school, but the differences are actually good. I would tell her not to worry about grades so much because that will make things worse. Basically, I will just tell my senior self not to worry so much and to enjoy your college years. I will tell her to enjoy this journey because you will learn a lot along the way.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Galveston College is a great learning evironment, place to grow, understand, and stepping stone to the transition of a four year university. The professors are always on campus and willing to help when you need them. GC is the basis for an amazing college career where you will learn everything you need to be successfull at the university and in life.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my school is the homework I get in my classes. The homework isn't that awful, but it takes up a lot of my time in the day to finish it. I suppose the work load I get in some of my classes will probably perpare me for when I transfer to a university.
The best thing about my school is the size because you don't get lost and the classes are smaller. With smaller classes, you have a better chance getting one on one time with your instructor.
