I have learned a great amount of knowledge from Gaston college and I would recommend it. Many professors will give you their personal phone number so that you can contact them outside of office hours. The facility is safe and clean. The grading of assignments is usually within a week.

The classes are great, I am a High School student and take college classes through my High School, the experience so far has been outstanding. Teachers are very helpful and easy to reach if needed. The satellite campus at the Lincoln campus location has been extremely helpful as it is close by.

Gaston College is a place to grow before heading to a big four year university. They have a very safe campus you can roam on and hang out with friends. Professors have regular office hours to help students and even have contacts when not available at school. There are also many open labs and classrooms to find a quiet place to study.

As a community college, Gaston is a great place to get your education at an affordable and accessible rate. This is my first year at Gaston college and thus far I’ve really learned to love the rural and southern comfort environment that Gaston has to offer. I was attracted to this school because of their Nursing program which is built with kind and supportive staff that push you to your limits. The feeling of family/friendship within the nursing program becomes prominent as the semester goes on due to the high drop rate that is typically associated within this type of degree. Do keep in mind that this particular program consumes a lot of students time, however some students do manage to balance work and nursing. Personally, I was only able to work the first semester and then I had to quit my job to finish my second semester and be able to pass. Professors in the nursing department are good but many times expect you to be able to learn on your own and the lectures are mainly to supplement your learning. In regards to the application process for their nursing program, they require students to take the TEAS test (nursing entrance exam) with a minimum score of 65 and all the required pre-requisites in the areas of math, science, and literature completed. Gaston offers their students access to the library on campus as well as the gym which are both nice facilities. Campus life is calm and is a very safe place to learn, this is highly due to the size of campus being small compared to community colleges in cities such as the schools closer to Charlotte, NC. If you are a student looking to obtain an education at an affordable price or if you are someone looking at a nursing program around a calm and safe area, I certainly recommend Gaston College in Dallas, NC.

I am a returning, non-traditional 43 year old female who is majoring in Human Services and Substance Abuse. I was very fearful of returning, partly due to my age. However, once I was enrolled and attended my first class, I was immediately set at ease, by both the faculty and other students. Gaston College is a great college and I have nothing but good things to say about it!
Douglas - 11/19/2018
It is a community college that I entered through an early college program. This college has served me well and I think its a great start for someone who needs to get the basic prerequisites out of the way. Overall, I enjoyed the school as I was in a safe environment and most importantly, I passed all of my classes.
Sellina - 09/10/2018
Gaston college is a great learning environment with diversity and instructors that are willing to assist their students.
Anna - 05/11/2018
Gaston College provides a safe and affordable learning experience to students of all ages. The professors at Gaston College care about the success of their students. There are several activities for students to get involved in. The community and affordability aspect of Gaston College, are what had drawn me into it.

I will be applying for the fall semester 2018. I like the convenience of places to eat other than the cafeteria on campus. I like that the professors or administration and counselors that are available when needed. The college is conveniently situated near my house and to me that is good in case I need to rush home for something(I may have forgotten). Overall, I am pretty sure I will achieve my academic goals .

It's an older campus full of really helpful staff, but you have to want to succeed. We have a really low graduation rate and I always hear people complaining about the work they have to do, but if you want to succeed then apply yourself, do the course readings and make an effort to make connections with your teachers more than just in the classroom and you'll have no problem succeeding at Gaston.
Deiana - 05/13/2017
Honestly wish I'd strayed out here. Classes are much smaller so you actually know your professors and they can break things down to you on a more personal level. They really try to be advocates for you as well when it comes to transfer credits ! Over all I love this place and for me to get the same education at a fraction of the cost is great.
David - 05/04/2017
Gaston College is a great school for those looking to transfer to a University.
Yasmeen - 04/03/2017
Gaston College is an amazing school to attend it's very affordable and you make a lot of new friends and developing new skill within yourself you never knew you had before. Also this college is preparing you for the next step in your life for attending a four year university.
Natalie - 02/27/2017
I love it. The teachers, for the most part, are great, and I have been very impressed with the quality of the education that I have been recieving. Also, it is reasonably priced. The campus is safe, and I find that there are many nice people to talk to. There are a variety of opinions, backrounds, and lifestyles represented at Gaston College.
Takira - 01/20/2017
It is a well respected college and just small enough not to have drama, in which would otherwise get in the way of our education. Gaston College treats everyone like family there and no one is left behind. They provide quick and easy ways to pay for your college funds, like the Bookstore on campus where you can get books at an adequate price. It is an easy-going and family-like college, and there are a lot of great opportunities there.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Gaston College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to pay more attention in my Language Arts class. Writing papers is not my specialty. The big thing I would really like to tell myself is not to be so shy. I didn't have very many friends in high school because I was too afraid to approach people. I always stood behind my younger brother because he is the outgoing one. However, going out on my own, I didn't have him as a crutch anymore. The first day of college I got asked to join a study group. I was able to open up and found that people do like me. I don't have to be afraid. It's really help me come out of my shell.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I think people who aren't focused and ready to make something of themselves should not attend the school. People who are afraid of life and want to keep partying should maybe go to a four year school and grow out of that. A community college would not be the place for them.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I like the fact that the campus is small and so are the classes. You get more of the personal touch here. Also, I want to be a paramedic, and Gaston College has a program specific for that.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is the parking situation. The parking is really bad especially the first week of school. People aren't used to the school and don't know where to park so they just be all over the place. So i end up having to park far away. Other that the parking it's actually a really nice school.
