I believe GCC is a place where any individual can go to start or continue a life that involves peace, growth, and happiness. The students and staff at Genesee Community College have always been there to support me and encourage my growth as a student. I work very hard for what I am paying to learn and everyone has made an effort to make me feel safe and at home. They truly are a family to me and I will always cherish the time I spend here.

Everything runs smoothly and there is a lot of community involvement so that it doesn't feel like a hardcore college all the time. Also there are high schoolers that can come in to take classes and earn college credit before college which I think is a very smart idea for getting kids ahead in life.

Genesee Community College was a pleasant experience with incredible staff and a personable environment. I had plenty of opportunities to seek additional help from professors and other staff members if I needed it. For students looking for a inexpensive yet quality educational experience, I would recommend Genesee Community College.

I am attending Genesee Community College for a specific purpose, to make an investment in my future. The purpose of any student attending, whether young adult or well-aged, the individuals priorities determine how valuable attending this institution is. The teachers are excellent, the variety of degree programs is sufficient, and the quality of education has proven to be great. Yes, there is not a lot on campus in regards to food, activity and social life and although these are important, the main drive of attending a college institution is to create career building skills. Genesee Community College provides the essentials that a college needs to provide and those essentials are well structured for this institution. I highly recommend attending this school because it is affordable and provides quality education. If wide food variety, social life, and activities is a high priority for a student, than I recommend owning a vehicle to be able to travel off of campus or seeking another institution where those priorities are more accessible. With that being said, I have been attending school for my first semester this fall and have enjoyed the experience. I am learning in my degree program and understanding the information. I take my tests at one of the many testing centers around campus and I have not found it difficult to maintain good grades as long as I apply myself. Genesee Community College is overall a good academic college for those who's top priority is education and desire minimal distractions. The lack of activities and community I believe is beneficial to a student because it does not tug on their will power to resist going out and enjoying the simple pleasures and focusing on why they are here, to learn and invest in their future.

I think that Genesee Community College is a great stepping stone to those who are looking to start off in an affordable manner. There are many opportunities to have credits transferred and to receive basic education that would prepare one for the workplace. There are extracurricular activities available as well. This is a great place to start!

Genesee Community College is a fantastic and highly affordable school. The education is high-quality and the teachers are very accomodating. The campus is beautiful and well-maintained all year long. The faculty--such as your student success coaches and dean of students--are all very polite and eager to help. The college has a building devoted to helping students navigate the beauraucratic jungle that is unfamiliar to new students, and they are open whenever the campus is being used. I love GCC.

I think it's a great school, it has all the facilities you need to help you with your studies and your health. There are a few renovations going on recently with the new building and gym, so it helped make the school look nicer and with more facilities. There are many times where I hear people complaining about what a sucky school GCC is, but I think that in order to make your experience in school enjoyable you would have to contribute your part as well, such as joining clubs and being more proactive in general. In terms of campus food, it's average to be honest. At first the food was quite okay there's variety, but after eating almost the same thing every other week you'll get bored of the taste pretty fast. Maybe I have high standards when it comes to food, but I'm really glad that the school has a microwave in the cafeteria so I can just heat up the food I brought from home. From what I heard from friends, many times the administration will mess up some stuff like your course schedule etc, so always make sure to double check everything.

When I began at Genesee it was a small branch of the main campus, about an hours distance from it (the main campus). My favorite class has always been Ethics, where the professor was absolutely wonderful, because he was intent on getting us to speak our opinion, and discuss different viewpoints. Now a part of the main campus, it's a great place to be. It's easy to navigate, the classes are as expected, and the kids there are easy going. I'm glad I picked GCC.

It's a generally great school, and I'm glad I decided to go there. You get a great education for the price you pay -- which is a great price -- and everyone is friendly and willing to work around your schedule, as well as your wants and needs. They make things simple.

Genesee Community College was an easy transition for me from high school. The classes are averaged at about 20 people and the professors make time for their students even outside of class. GCC felt like home to me, and was close to home for me, that is one of the reasons I chose it. The Human Services program gave me experience in the field from my first semester by requiring volunteer work. My second semester I was given a field placement internship to explore my possibilities, this helped me immensely in trying to figure out where I wanted to go. GCC has a lot to offer, many clubs, sports, and other social events. This college was a great start for me as a freshman!

Its a very good school. With lots of help, in every way. The care about ones education, and have many programs for children who have advisability. They also have help for those who are struggling as well.

I know its not a University, but over all I don't think that there's really all that big of a difference. I like smaller, its easier to get around. The professors are nice, They have a lot of help available on campus, such as, tutors. They have clubs, like the Travel Club, which I'm very interested in. Really, what more could you want? I'm happy, and I cant wait to come to school every day.

The campus in Batavia is perfect. Every teacher I encountered was always available to help their students and encouraged them to dig deeper. The food on campus is delicious. The atmosphere is fun and unihibited. GCC encourages students to be who they are, and the student activities are amazing. The only downside is the semi on campus housing, College Village- living there is literally a nightmare. Do yourself a favor and find an apartment or someplace really off campus to live. There's a diner called Sportos that is amazing. Tons of great food places in the area if you know where to look: Sportos, Main Street Pizza, That Taco Place, O'Laceys, Pok-A-Dot, Center Street Smokehouse, and a bunch of chain places too.

Genesee Community College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Genesee Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Genesee Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in high school and give myself one piece of major advice for college it would be to not let the endless buffet of college food get the best of me. I grew up in a house where there was never junk food in the pantry. I went to college and there was always dessert, soda, ice cream, and so much to eat for dinner. I felt like I had to eat all of it and then go up for a second helping. I gained the freshmen fifteen that I was warned of. Not only this but i always took naps and never worked out. To put is short and sweet I would look myself straight in the eye and say only have one helping at meals, sweets once a week, work out everyday, and go to bed early or else you are going to get fat.

Usually class sessions are pretty quiet. The other classmates do not talk much not unless the professor asks a question to the students or not unless they have a discussion topic.

  4. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

I love Genesee Community College because tuition is reasonably priced and they have small class sizes. I get one on one time with the professor if i need it, and if they are unavailable there are tutors on site almost all the time. There are two campuses within 30 minutes of my home and it makes for an easy commute back and forth. This is especially easy because i have a daughter. If i needed daycare, the main campus has that available also if i chose to drive the 40 minutes to go there instead.

  5. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

When discussing Genesee Community College I always point out the small,"hometown" feel. GCC offers a variety of majors, including certification programs, associates degrees, and transfer programs. While they offer all of these, they still manage to keep class sizes small. I don't feel overwhelmed by a huge campus with long hauls to classes, becasue GCC is only one building. The college also offers avariety of class times; including night, weekend, and online classes. This works out great for students like me who work full time, and have families to take care of at home.
