Glenville State is a pretty nice school. its absolutely huge and the insides of the buildings are stunning in most places. I went there and they were moving the office buildings around and was told that the administration office was being moved to a new area. but overall, it's a really nice school and its perfect for people who love to walk. they have some pretty steep hills you could walk up and a lot of stairs.

Glencille state is an overall good college. But personally, I feel like I have to constantly look over my shoulder when I'm by myself. I am constantly cat called and it makes me feel very unsafe. I am beyond happy I live off of campus because I can come home to a safer environment.

The best thing I have to say about this college is that I’m about to leave it. The food has made over half the school sick, when the students demanded to have this addressed they simply said they would create new food options. Neither the quality of the food or the options improved. The teaching staff is only helpful when they have the time and patients, few are amazing instructors but those few are being pushed out. As a student I know exactly which instructor/professor is worth anything at what they do and more than half have decided to leave. This is due to the over bearing load put upon them, with lack of pay. They are required to take on a whole departments work, given the tittle of multiple jobs without the pay of them, they do not receive a raise either. The athletic department is part of the culture of the “good ol boy”, recently a convicted rapist was recuirted onto our football team, the student body was not aware of his charges till a scared girl researched him then proceeded to warn the rest of the famale body. The woman’s soccer team was forced to build their own locker room, where they work almost eight hours straight cutting and bruising their body because if it didn’t get done in time they were told they would no longer receive scholarship, or a place on the team. The boy football team however had their lockeroom built with custom aspects; hard wood flooring, new uniforms placed in every locker, custom made corn hole sets, speakers with surround sound, and a private bathroom. The coaching staff is treated untouchable, the female soccer coach had multiple accusations against him, when a meeting was set up to address these accusations the team was told there would be a formal report made with the NCAA, no report was made and the department staff says the NCAA was never in glenville to this date meaning no report was officially made. The president of the college has told the staff in the resgitor office to approve as little people possibly for overload courses to force students to stay in glenville longer. Recently I ran into this issue, they came I need another course that they will not let me take due being over the max amount of credit hours. In 2017 they restricted the allowed amount from 18 to 17 forcing people to pay an extra fee for taking over load courses which is unavoidable with that odd number. I was approved to combined to courses to graduate on time because it was a science with a lab, now 30 days after being approved I am being told I am not to graduate because they changed their mind, a committee that I never met is saying that they never approved it and that the lab hour I am taking is not an actual lab. This school is a plague on so many people costing students hundreds and thousands of dollars because they are allowed to change their mind at a drop of a hat, this would never occur at a better, larger school that isn’t ran by money hunger men and women. Don’t attend this college unless you want to pay twice as much as you thought you would.

I thoroughly enjoy GSC, but my main problem with the college is that there is nothing to do in the area. On the side note, the professors and staff are very friendly and the people here will become your family over time. Make the most out of this place and it'll be a great experience.

Glenville State College is an awesome college to go to if you like small class sizes. The professors are personable, friendly, and make themselves available for one-on-one time with students. Glenville is a small homey town with a positive environment and amazing people. Everyone is super kind and it is alright to be quirky. Do not let Glenville's small size fool you; our student life makes sure that there are always events going on, such as bingo, escape rooms, and paint night! We have many wonderful clubs and organizations to choose from. Many students come to Glenville with scholarships in athletics, so a large portion of the population are athletes. Some of the most common majors at GSC include: Education, criminal justice, forestry. If you are in to Bluegrass, you are in the right place; you can actually get a major in Bluegrass! The academic success center offers many free services to students, such as tutoring for almost every subject, mock interviews, resume building, and so much more! GSC also offers many on campus jobs so that paying for tuition is a little less complex. Now that you have heard some of the pros, let's talk about the cons. The cafeteria food is good, but it is often difficult to make healthy choices. The dorm rooms are also pretty small. The campus is on a hill, which is a great way to get in your exercise, but many people are not a huge fan. Overall, Glenville State College is a great school! I am so happy that I decided to come here; there is no where else I would rather be.

Overall, I'm glad that I attended Glenville State. I feel like I received a good education and have made several lasting relationships with fellow students as well as professors. For the price that I paid in tuition and housing, I feel like it was a good investment.

Overall my experience at Glenville State College has been great. Although I was originally hoping to contract as an ROTC cadet and the program was cut by our main branch, I still like it here. In fact I was going to transfer to WVSU for ROTC however their admissions department wasn't on top of things and same with their registrar. I say that to say this Glenville, honestly makes enrolling as painless and easy as possible.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Glenville State College is 69%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time and talk to myself, I think I would be more serious about getting ready for college. Financial aid is important! I knew I wanted to attend college, but I was unsure what career path to take. Be more aggressive in talking to my guidance counselor , they have information that can help with decisions. Instead of feeling under pressure to have my life in order by graduation, I realize that everyone makes changes as they get older, it's part of life. Nothing is set in stone at seventeen. I wish I would have known how much I would enjoy college life and look forward to each day. My college classes are chosen for a career that I am interested in and more enjoyable than high school classes that were requirements. The transition from high school to college life, is going from a dependant child to becoming a young adult and learning how to live on your own while pursuing a career to last a lifetime; I think I am doing okay, however, I worry about the cost of each semester and my ability to pay for my education. I will enjoy college life!
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I like to consider Glenville State College more unique from others based on how hands-on the faculty is. The classes are smaller ratio; which means the professors are more involved with students. The professors will go the extra mile here, and it's obvious that they love what they do. I believe if a student feels that the professor isn't involved and professional, then it can cause students to become more lazy and most importantly not do the best they can do.
I think that the best aspect about my school is the availability of professors and help with coursework when I need it. Professors here are very friendly and honestly care about their students. The small-school atmosphere leads to having quite a few friends because everyone knows everyone. The school is located in the beautiful hills of West Virginia, and there are many opportunities to participate in outdoor recreational activities.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
i wish i had known that this school was small and also how expensive it is to attend such a small school that isn't even a private institution. i wish i would have known how this school find ways to exhuast every bit of money you have out of your pocket and the social norms being comprimised by local students that leave to go home every weekend and public safety that target students that pose no threat to such a vacant campus even on a weekday. also the lack of things to do on and around campus.
Our school is well-known for high quality in the Education Department, Music, Forestry/Land Management, and Business. We have one of the only (possibly the only) Bluegrass music certification in the country.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about this college is that the dorms are very noisy. I am lucky to be on the top floor but I hear a lot of complaints of people coming in at night and waking people up who have eight o'clock classes. I would say that it would be the most frustrating thing.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
