01/18/2025Lake Superior State University's motto is this: "Superior Education, Superior Experience, Superior You." I believe that the university accomplishes all of these statements very well.
I chose to attend Lake Superior State University for a variety of reasons. Lake Superior State University is an affordable school, and they have many different options for majors, which was one of the main reasons why I chose to attend. The class size is typically small, which allows for the professors to connect individually with each student. I appreciate this because it is easy to ask questions or get help from all of my professors. All of my professors have also been very kind, and always willing to help me learn and succeed in their classes.
Another thing I really appreciate about LSSU are all of the clubs and organizations there are for students to join. For a small university, there are many different club options! Twice a year, there is a big event in which all student clubs and organizations set up a booth with information about the club, as well as sign up information. This makes it simple for students to see what they might want to join, try things out, and meet a bunch of new people!
The on-campus housing and food are quite standard for a university. There are multiple different dorm and apartment style housing options, which allows for choice in housing. With the meal plans, we have two different dining location options. Many people prefer one over the other, but you can always find something good to eat! Another awesome thing about LSSU is the free food you can get throughout the week. Depending on the day, there is almost always doughnuts, soup, popcorn, or pizza around campus, that you can get for free!
Overall, I have been very happy with my choice to attend LSSU. I enjoy the classes, the people, and the campus in general! If you're looking for a small state university in Michigan, Lake Superior State University is the place to go.

02/09/2023I attended LSSU all four years of my undergrad, lived on campus for two, and was involved in regular extracurricular. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a school that values majors other than engineering and science you're looking in the wrong place. The vibe is that the school is drifting more and more towards being a trade school as they keep cutting arts funding and many majors including: public relations, communications, theatre, and more.

01/14/2020In my opinion, Lake Superior State is an excellent university in terms of academia. There are a lot of programs that students can choose from that offer relevant and appropriate classes as well as there are plenty of recreational classes to participate in. The class sizes are pretty ideally sized, allowing for needed one on one time with professors. I like that the campus is fairly small as to not feel overwhelmed and the community is friendly. Overall, I believe that Lake Superior State University is a great school.
