Lynchburg college has a beautiful campus, as well as amazing faculty and staff, the teachers make you feel like an adult and treat you with respect. Teachers also are very understanding and make you feel as if you can talk to them about anything. A beautiful campus with a loving and helpful community.

The University of Lynchburg (formerly Lynchburg College) is practically my ideal small school setting. In terms of academics, the quality is superior. I am a fellow of the Westover Honors College, a prestigious program that provides a more challenging educational experience for those who seek it. So far, it has enhanced my learning experience, made me more open minded, and allowed me to meet other students who are as eager to learn as I am.
In terms of athletics, while our school does not have a football team, we eagerly await home soccer and lacrosse games. Students crowd around the far side of the track to cheer on fellow student-athletes at every home game. I personally participate in varsity level cross country and track and field. The teams I am a part of are nothing short of a second family to me, and I have enjoyed every minute of my experience being a part of them.
The facilities at the University of Lynchburg have been updated recently (a new student center and a new dorm facility), and new additions will likely be made in the future. All dining halls and food and drink places are up to date, and there are plenty of options for students looking for nutritional options. The only area I believe my school is lacking in with respect to facilities is the field house we currently use. As a track and field athlete, I am required to use the outdoor track in the cold winter months, because out school does not have a usable indoor track. It would be greatly appreciated by all track and field athletes (as well as athletes from other sports) if the University of Lynchburg supplied its student-athletes with a new field house containing a usable indoor track.
Overall, I am very pleased with nearly every aspect of my school. There are very few things I would change, and I have enjoyed my experience thus far. I anxiously await what my coming years at the University of Lynchburg hold both academically and athletically.

Lynchburg was not my first choice, however, a former close friend attended and convinced me to visit. Upon visiting I grew to love the beautiful small campus and list of programs overlooking things that will end up leading to my departure. Ecstatic about my acceptance I was looking forward to making my family members proud and proving naysayers wrong. I am a female African American first-generation college student raised by a single mother. I know the importance of education but in my freshman year, I questioned my intelligence and overall worth. During my time there I experienced a level of racism that mentally I was not equipped to understand. The handful of black people were all acquainted and joined or attended BSA(Black Student Association) meetings to vent. The Trump election fueled the tensions on campus racial slurs were written on doors, we were called monkeys while being denied entrance into a party, and not to mention the several class discussions about how black people should get over discrimination and slavery. I'm glad I finished my freshman year because I developed a sense of resilience however, to this day I refuse to even drive to the city of Lynchburg anymore. Now, after receiving an associate degree from my community college I have been accepted into Averett University. Hopefully, I can achieve my bachelor's and have a better experience after all tuition is too costly to be miserable.

Lynchburg College is now University of Lynchburg and the most recent and current leadership are expanding major and degree offerings. The campus has diversity; however, the diversity programs/activities available to students fro socialization are limited. The University professors and advisers take the time to get to know the students and provide assistance. Overall, I opine the University of Lynchburg is a great school to attend.

Lynchburg is a really small school in a really small city, and you can tell. It is a good, quiet place to be if you have particular research projects and big things to focus on, but if you want a cosmopolitan, intellectual place, this is not it. People party a lot, do not have much to say, and many go to class just to say they went.
Kaitlyn - 05/03/2019
Lynchburg College is a fun and exciting campus. The staff and students are very friendly and the surrounding town has lots to do. The campus is gorgeous and easy to navigate. The dining staff especially seems very concerned with what they are serving and take pride in their work.

It genuinely love it here. It is a small school with a lot of history. Some of the buildings are older, but there are newer ones too. I am a grad student and can honestly say that my professors are some of the most supportive ones I have ever had. I highly recommend this school!

Many of the professors don't take the time to help students to succeed, even if the students ask multiple times for help. It seems as if the school in general only cares for students who donate money to the school, besides that they don't seem to make other students feel important. The only good thing about the school is the class size.

Let's just say I love the campus community enough to stay for my masters!
I came in as a freshman because of the small campus community and the welcoming community. I stayed because Lynchburg College is what it says it is: a small, liberal art institution that cares very deeply about its students both academically and personally.

Lynchburg College provides a great atmosphere for athletes, academics, and students of all interests; the campus is beautiful and historic with a comfortable environment. The most enjoyable part of this college is the support for athletics and athletes on campus. There is consistent appreciation for diversity among the student body and the outstanding accomplishments of students here in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Faith - 04/16/2018
I am an incoming freshman of Lynchburg College and I love the school. The people are very friendly and the professors are amazing. The class sizes are a smaller size for better learning experiences. The sports scene is phenomenal everyone is very supportive of others. Even those that aren't into sports support athletes and the athletes supports those that aren't part of a support in whatever it is that they enjoy to do whether it be music, theater or art.
Jamie - 03/05/2018
I love the campus and the facilities. The building are very clean and well kept, and the dell, which is an area where students can relax outside, is always kept presentable. It's a nice place to just sit and study while also enjoying the fresh air. All of the professors are also very kind and helpful. They're always trying to help in anyway they can to help students succeed in class.

Lynchburg College is one of those schools where as soon you step on the campus you feel at home. When I fist went to tour schools as a prospective freshman I felt so uncomfortable at other schools like I just didn't fit in and I could see a future for myself but, my first time visiting Lynchburg College I was immediately greeted by students that at the time didn't even realize I was a prospective student at the campus and yet they were friendly and extremely helpful as was the faculty. I am absolutely in love with Lynchburg College and would recommend it to everyone, Go Hornets!
Chibunma - 01/18/2018
It could be better by incorporating a football team. Increase the number of plays being made each academic year. Also, allow the stories to not only focus back in the day, but also in the present time. In addition, theatre courses should be offered during the summer.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lynchburg College is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
It most definitly has to be the students decision to decide the right college for him/her. The student knows deep down in their hearts what types of environments are right for them (small cities/ large towns). It's also a good idea for the parent to help make the decision because most of the time they are the one's who are paying but it's the students who have to actually attend the big/small classrooms and live on the campus. The student should also enjoy every minute of their college experience. They will engage with people from various ethnicities/backgrounds and learn new things everyday that will become a part of them for a lifetime. It's a great opportunity for a successful future and life.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about this scool is that there is not much diversity. The majority of the student body is white/ caucasian. It would be nice to have more foreign exchange students, although that is beyond Lynchburg College's control.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person who is looking for a big campus and extremly large classrooms should not attend this college. It is a moderate sized friendly campus with small classroom sizes for interaction between professors and students.
The opprotunities here. There are so many opprotunities to get involved in something of interest to you. If there's nothing already established on campus you are interested in, you can work with the administration to get something started. This school is very open to new ideas and trying things new ways.
People who are looking for a small homey feel. There is a mixture or all differnt types of people you just have to look. It is a good place for people who feel a little lost and need some direction in there life.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Starting answering! at LC we have greek life, international student organizations, clubs, intramural sports, choir groups many more activities that will cautivate you just take at look at Lynchburg College webpage !!
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag most about how small and beautiful my campus, the fact that my largest class consist of 25 students is amazing. Here, at Lynchburg College we are not a school, we are family.
I personally love LC because everyone is so nice! One problem I did have in the beginning was finding stuff to do on the weekend, but once you find a group of friends it is easy to find something to do. The class sizes are small enough where the teachers know your name, and large enough where the class can have different discussions with a variety of opinions. It really helps to get involved on campus and there is always something to get involved in.
I was an emotional reck when I graduated high school. There was now ay that I would be able to handle myself at college all by myself. My mother passed away unexpectadly my senior year of high school and after that, nothing mattered to me anymore. I needed a life changing experience, one that would change me for the better. When I came to Lynchburg College, I had that life changing experience. That is what Lynchburg is known for; the college that changes lives.
I don't consider the academics at LC very challenging, but it is different. There are deadlines, and the readings and essays are longer. However the information learned is different than high school, because it can be related to the real world.
Classes at Lynchburg College are very dynamic, students interact with their professors, the professors are very friendly, they explain to the students and let them lead discussions which make students be open to debates in class. I really like my classes at Lc because the environment on them is great!
It is nice that all the professors know your name and can have an actual discussion with you. It makes you feel like you matter, and not like your are just one out of the 25 students. The only downside is they get on your back about assignments and grades, which has its pluses and minuses.
Sports are very important at LC. You don't even have to play them to get involved. Everyone attends the games and sometimes they even give out t-shirts. The sports teams here are also very successful and hardworking. It is fun to be on a team, and to watch other teams win.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Lynchburg College receive some sort of financial aid.
31% were awarded federal grants.70%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
