I personally have had an excellent experience at MCC. I am a theatre major and my experience in the program has been nothing short of the highest caliber. The best thing about being a student here is that the professors really seek to provide their students with opportunities outside of the classroom to get involved with their major. The hands on experience that I have gained has been invaluable and I feel will definitely give me an edge as I continue to pursue my educational goals. I would definitely recommend this school to not only save money but to experience this level of quality education.

I love MCC, its teachers, the people, the clubs, everything! It's a community college, so there is no living on campus. However, they provide many services for students such as military, disability, roommate matching, and more. The teachers heavily emphasize that they understand that students have jobs, children, or just a life altogether outside school, so they are super understanding. All tutoring services are free and there are so many resources for students. The class sizes max at around 20-30 students, so the teachers provide personal attention.
If you are eligible, I highly recommend looking into the Presidential Honors Scholarship. It will pay for your tuition (up to 15 credits per semester) for the entire time you are there. Books and other costs you have to pay separate, but if you get more scholarships, you can get even those covered. With the Honors Scholarship, FAFSA, and other scholarships I've received, I not only have all my school covered, the leftover money I receive from scholarships go straight to me. I am quite literally being paid to go to school. So my advice is apply, apply, apply!
Lastly if you can, I highly recommend doing clubs. I went to clubs expecting me to go to one meeting and never returning, but I ended up becoming a club senator and being a part of the MCC student senate. If you're a woman, Women Rising Club is a great club with empowerment. Plus sometimes, they give out tickets to events for free. I went to see the Phoenix Symphony extremely close to the front for free! The ticket prices were $84 for the cheap ones, much more for the sit that I got. I am in M.E.C.H.A (for latinos) and Friendly Colors (for lgbtq). I've met incredible people and I'm friends with so many different people from these great clubs, and they are just so much fun!

HORRIBLE. I was a student in American sign language with James Rice. He sexually harassed me outside of class and I was forced to withdraw early before graduating. The same thing has happened to my classmate and friend and her family is going to be suing mesa college for not helping or protecting her. don't take James rice's class. he is a sexual predator!!!!

I am a returning student that has had an amazing transition back into the classroom. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure I understand what is expected of me and to make sure I receive all the help I need. From the financial aid office to the academic advisors, I am always able to easily get ahold of someone to answer my questions which is a very important thing for someone who has been away for so long.

It is a good option when it's your only option. Otherwise, I'd prefer to be at Arizona State University. Class registration is confusing and very different from my previous experiences with other colleges. Classes and professors are usually good, but it's the luck of the draw.

Very affordable and accommodating. I currently am a online student and I have no problems connecting to my classes or getting ahold of my instructors. I am currently in a class where we meet every week and have collaborations that I find very helpful.

Mesa Community College is a great place to learn for people going back to school or as a stepping stone before transferring to a four year university. The professors genuinely care about their students and its easier to get a better education due to smaller class sizes. The tuition is much cheaper and the credits are very transferable to almost anywhere.

Mesa Community College provides a vibrant facility for eager students who are determined to achieve their educational goals. The majority of professors I have come into contact with are extremely bright educators and have a deep passion for the subject they are teaching. I have never felt unsafe at this facility and no matter if you are attending night classes or those in the morning, security carts roam the campus often to ensure everyone's safety. The only substantial complaint I have regarding this school is the ever-present idea that it is only a transfer school that nobody should place much importance in. Because of this, both teachers and students are all too willing to give up hope in their related subject matter. This demoralizes all who are involved in the classroom and may even lead to some suspecting college is not something to be bothered about. In my honest opinion, if there were a louder pride in attending Mesa Community College, its very student body of young people who may not have had the best record in high school, and the matured adults in the school who seek education after years of business and life getting in the way would more fully recognize the importance of college education.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at MCC after transferring from ASU to save money. The professors are generally all very understanding, flexible, and supportive. They understand students have other commitments, and they make themselves available if you need any help. My advisor was incredibly helpful and made sure I knew what steps I needed to complete to reach my objectives.

I have enjoyed my time there. The campus atmosphere is quiet, which I enjoy. As opposed to their infamously rowdy neighbor ASU, there is little nonsense here and I have never encountered or heard about any security issues on campus which is very reassuring given recent events. In addition, the teachers that I have had are concerned about student success far more than I had anticipated which has meant a lot to me. I really have little bad to say. I don’t know too much about the sports as I do not really participate in them. But I do watch and see other students do them and the coaches much like the teachers seem very encouraging and, in general, they seem to have a lot of success. Also, the support staff deserve a shout out because the Librarians, Counseling staff, and financial aid officers are amazing. They all seemingly always have information I need, and on the rare occasions that they do not they are great about getting me pointed in the correct direction which has saved me a lot of frustration, especially in the early years of my college career. And lastly with the latest occurrences surrounding the global pandemic known as COVID the teacher and management response to it has been more than helpful. I received emails and pamphlets about loans, class suspension if needed, canned goods and other goods all of these being things that I consider beyond what is normally required of a school to provide for their students. Would recommend for anyone interested in attending.

I love Mesa Community College so much, and it has been an integral part of my achieving an Associate's Degree in Music Business. The students, the teachers, and the overall culture make for a great college environment! If I could recommend this college to a senior in high school who is about to graduate, I would tell them that it is for sure a place that will build your future.

Mesa Community College is an amazing school! I've attended several schools throughout the valley and Mesa has been my top choice. The instructors provide top quality instruction and I feel like I truly walk away with a good grasp on content. The environment at Mesa is unlike other schools in that everyone is so positive and inviting.

I really enjoy attending Mesa Community College, the class sizes aren't too big or too small so you can talk to classmates without feeling like the professor doesn't know you exist. The campus is large enough and well kept, the professors are open to students and available on Canvas as well as their office hours.

When I attended, I really enjoyed the school and the location of the school. With the area, ASU/Tempe is right around the corner, Tempe Marketplace is just a few minutes up the road, and many restaurants around the campus. With it being a community college, there are no on-campus housing but there are plenty of off-campus housing such as student apartments and regular apartments nearby. Class sizes were small compared to university class sizes so you can get that more one on one feel with the professor. Overall, great school. School is school and will always be school but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I would definitely take some classes here again if I could.

I absolutely love MCC. There has not been a professor that I have disliked in my three years of attending. The advisors are very flexible and are willing to help no matter what. They have very accessible resources online as well as in the school. I have had opportunities elsewhere, but have chosen to stay here to finish my AA degree.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Mesa Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Don't freak out! Calm down and take your time. Really, focus on yourself and clear your mind of everything that is stressing you out at the moment. Don't let others influence your decision on what you should do next. Do whats best for you and once again, FOCUS ON YOU. Even though I'm from the future I can't tell you how things are for me then. Hopefully you will see the way things will be much sooner than what it took me. But I will say with the upmost clarity that things will get better. Chin up, chest out and smile! Because great things will come your way, you just have to be positive. Oh, and take up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu now, its an awesome sport you will learn to love and if you do it now you'll be a purple belt by the time your're me. Peace.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Mesa Community College is a cost efficient transitional school to attaining a four year degree where there are smaller class sizes and more flexibility for independent students who are working their way through college.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
When I've gone to speak with an advisor in the past, there have been a couple who seem like they do not know what they are talking about and do not help me. It's frustrating and I get confused, luckily there are really good counselors who can help me and make things very clear.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I try not to brag when ever possible but when I do, and I cannot lie--I do, I tend to brag that I am not paying anything for classes. I receive the Pell Grant and because tuition is relatively low it is completely covered. I believe that MCC is the biggest community college in the country, if it is not then I know it is the biggest in Arizona, that is brag worthy.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Something unique about Mesa Community College was that it is a commuter school, since there are no dorms on campus for students to live alot of students drive their own vehicles to class. I always find it interesting though to see in class where all your classmates are driving from everyday to get to class, you really see the commitment in some students by the travel time that they take in order to come and learn on campus. Since no students live on campus there is an apartment complex across the street.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
College is about throwing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to do just that. Talk to people you don't know. Join clubs and activities you otherwise wouldn't have tried.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I really can't think of a kind of person who shouldn't attend this school. There are exciting opportunites for a great variety of associate degrees as well as transfer programs for those who want to obtain a Bachelor's degree. This school offers a wide variety of campus classes as well as evening and online options.
The types of students who should consider Mesa Community College are those who are non-residents and need to gain residency for tuition. This is a great way to earn credits and not pay a ridiculous amount of money. Students who also cannot afford Arizona State University or the University of Arizona should consider MCC because they have great transfer programs.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The lack of resources is the most frustrating thing about my school. I am persuing dental hygiene, and have taken many biology classes over the past semsters. It would be helpful to have cadaver labs instead of having to use just the limited amount of models or books we are given.
I love MCC, I have wonderful teachers, and they are always willing to help me. I just wished that the advisers made more of an effort getting in contact with students.
Very flexible, I'm only an art student so I wouldn't know about the science, math or engineering departments but they only want you to succeed. They is their goal in life, they want to push you because they know it'll be good for you. My art teacher constantly challenged us and I am actually very grateful for it. It also weeds out the students that don't show they're not one hundred percent. The academics are superb.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
