I started going to Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU) on the fall semester of 2023 and with 2024 being over, I have now been there a year. The ground campus is kept nice clean rarely do I ever see any trash or none at all. The bathroom are kept clean at least on the newer buildings but the old buildings are in okay shape. I just wish they could do more renovations. The student in campus are nice, I never had any bad interaction with anyone, if I’m lost I ask for help and students help me or they at least point in the right direction where I can get an answer. The faculty at the school are also respectful and they are always available and provide outside hours for students that might have more questions or need help.
Some of the things that I feel is missing when compared to other big school like University of Boulder, is the lack of sports team, fraternities, and on campus housing. Before becoming a university, MSU was a college. So mainly the people who go there have outside responsible such full time job, so the students here have a fast life style. This would make sense as to why MSU Denver lack a sport team, fraternity or on-campus housing, as most students have outside responsibilities. Having said that I still wish that MSU could still strife to add more sports team or on-campus housing for students that are willing to be have more of university like the ones at Boulder. But overall MSU Denver for me sits in the middle between college and university, which is fine for me and affordable compare to other places.

Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) is a decent school for students looking for an affordable and flexible college option. It’s located right in downtown Denver, which means students have lots of opportunities for jobs, internships, and fun city life.
One of the best things about MSU Denver is how affordable it is compared to other universities. It’s a good choice if you want a solid education without taking on a ton of student debt. The school is also very diverse and welcomes students from all kinds of backgrounds, including first-generation college students and older adults going back to school.
MSU Denver has some strong programs, especially in business, education, and aviation. While it’s not a big-name school, the professors are focused on teaching and often work closely with students because class sizes are smaller.
The campus is shared with two other schools, which makes it feel bigger and gives students more resources. Plus, being in the city means there’s always something to do or opportunities to connect with local companies.
It’s true that MSU Denver doesn’t have the prestige or resources of top-tier universities, but it’s great for students who work hard and take advantage of what it offers. If you’re looking for a practical, affordable college experience in an exciting urban setting, MSU Denver is a pretty good choice.

I have been recruited to play women's soccer and made an unofficial and official visit and have signed a letter of intent to play soccer and attend MSU. I am very excited to attend and love the campus and all that is offers for me academically. My parents and grandparents have been with me both times on my visits and are very excited for me to attend school at MSU.

I believe that this school is a very affordable choice when it comes to four year institutions. We partners with the Denver Scholarship Foundation and this foundation has been very helpful for me when it comes to affording school. Their counselors are here on campus and from my experience they are very helpful when it comes to school related issues or even other issues you might have.
As a dance major I am always involved in the arts and always try to get as many people to come and participate in events. I have met alot of cool people here who I now call friends and I am able to learn from many talented professors and students.
The campus here I find it to be very cool, its right in the middle of downtown Denver so I am able to go out downtown if I can’t find anything on the campus food courts that I’d like to eat.

MSU is a great environment for any major, as an enrolling art major I have seen nothing but art amerced within the school. They make sure that everyone has a chance to demonstrate what they have learned in real life experiences. I am delighted to be going to such as school that cares about the future of their students.

The Metropolitan State University of Denver had and have a very good system and the people there are being so nice with me, I'm not a U.S. Citizen and they don't make me fell that I don't belong here, it is the opposite, they are people that are worried about you and they want to make sure that you feel good with them. I feel so excited about that I'm going to attend classes soon, and that's a super new thing for me because I never went to an University before.

Great school that care for students progress and Success. I came in as a transfer student after not doing the greatest at my previous college due to life experiences. MSU Denver is ideal for those students who are not fresh out of high school. Their urban atmosphere and convenience in choosing classes to suit your life is top notch. Would recommend

The Metropolitan State University of Denver is a great school for people that want to stay and experience the city life rather than the small town life. It is a super diverse school with people from various different backgrounds and ethnicities. You not only learn a lot from your classes and professors, but also from the student body. The Metropolitan University of Denever shares campus with two other colleges which means that you get the opportunity to interact with many different students throughout your day. The diversity is what makes attending this college a great opportunity. Attending this school is like getting a small representation of what it is like to live on planet Earth. You got people from all around the world in one campus. You have the opportunity to network with people that have the same or different interests that you have. People that you learn a lot from and that could also potentially help you find your dream job one day.
The Metropolitan State University of Denver also has great resources for whatever it is you are looking for. Whether you are looking for scholarships, internships, or help. This school helps you with that. They have different offices with the purpose of benefiting you in your education journey and your future.
Finally, professors and staff are very caring and dedicated. They will make you feel heard and make sure you understand class material. All my experiences with my professors have been nothing but professional and helpful.
Overall you can see that this school really cares for you and your success.

My overall opinion of MSU Denver is great. I love the campus and the professors are absolutely amazing. The business department has been unbelievably welcoming and helpful. Not only that, the campus is right in the heart of Denver which has restaurants, art galleries, fun activities, beautiful sights, and great people in the city. There are always people to help, with mental health, personal problems, financial issues, and health issues. If there is any problem or hardship in life, they have someone to help you.

I enjoy being a student at Metropolitan State University of Denver. It is close to home and work, the professors take time to make sure that each student is okay and successful. The social life on campus is amazing, and I couldn't ask for a better college experience.

Metropolitan State University of Denver is a great campus right in the middle of down town Denver. There are lots of things around the school and it is very easy to get to. It also shares the campus with a community college and CU Denver which makes it easy to take all the classes you need to be able to graduate in a timely manner.

I love the Metropolitan State University of Denver, its place where anyone can come and just be there for fun and to learn. Its a very beautiful place to be, right downtown and lots of things to do. They have lots of things to do for people of all ages and all different grades. Its just overall a great place for any gender, religion, race to be.
Ali - 04/23/2020
A place every student will dream to be. Cheap in tuition in relation to other universities in the State. Easily accessible as it is located at the heart of Denver city. Multicultural, everyone is friendly from the management to students. It has all the facilities needed for study.
Estefany - 04/17/2020
MSU help out many student especially immigrant studies. I personal think it’s amazing how they help undocumented student that want to keep going in there education. They are also not an expensive college like the many other colleges
Kendall - 03/07/2020
MSU has a great location. There many shops, bars, restaurants, art complexes and some museums within walking distance to the campus. The campus shares the space and classrooms with two other schools. This places MSU in the middle of a prestige scale between a more expensive college and a community college. The library is through and vast. Downside being, it is obvious that funding as been pumped in to the STEM, science and math buildings, while the arts buildings are lacking in basic luxuries like clean, working restrooms.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Metropolitan State University of Denver is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
My college experience so far has taught me how driven and focused I am to becoming a psychologist. The professors I've encountered since attending Metro State have been extremely helpful and encouraging in helping me realize how passinate i am about psychology. Attending college has also shown me the impact it has on my everyday life. when I'm at school I feel motivated and eager to keep going because while in school I know I'm getting closer and closer to becoming a psychologist.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The admissions process, hands down! The advisors do not work with the finacial aid officers who don't work with the transcript counselors when working on the admissions process for a new student. Sudents are always confused as to why noone told them, for example, their general studies credits did not transfer ad that's why they do not qualify as a sophmore.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
The unique aspect of Metropolitan State College of Denver is that it is a commuting school. There are no dorms on campus and the student’s travel from all over the state to attend the college. The student population is extremely varied which was my favorite part and the ages of the students ranged from 18 to 50's. The variations of age were wonderful because we learned from all different perspectives, which widened our knowledge base. It was not your "typical" college experience, but this college provided me an amazing education with an extraordinary experience.
People who are dedicated to learning and becoming useful members of society and want more to life than what others have given them should become students at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I don't believe there is any reason why someone should not attend Metropolitan State College of Denver since it is a good school. The only types of learners that I can think of who may not want to physically be on campus are those who prefer online classes. I am not sure if online classes have increased since I attended. The only other constraint that I can think of would be one's inability to financially afford the tuition or the books and have no access to financial aid for any reason.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
If you are into basketball Metro has a really great basketball team that does very well. We are currently building a football field so when that is finished the school spirit of Metro is going to increase greatly. I am in the hospitality program and there is a great event club called MPI I would definitely recommend.
Physical Education has always been up on top at the four high schools I've been to. But the class that interested me the most was cooking class, it's something I'm passionate about and plan to at least minor in during college.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
Far from it! It maybe open enrollment but MSCD is more strict than most other colleges when it comes to academics. A D is not passing in any class (so you have to take it again) and most teachers fail you if you miss 3 or more classes. Also if your GPA falls below (I think its 2.5) you go on academic probation. You don’t get it above 2.5 in one semester you are gone from the school until you receive a diploma from another college. I have friends who transferred to MSCD from DU and CU and both said they had never worked so hard in their lives as MSCD was way more challenging.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
68% of students attending Metropolitan State University of Denver receive some sort of financial aid.
41% were awarded federal grants.38%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
