It's a very nice school. Most professors are easy to talk to and are usually available when you need to chat about things. The campus is big enough to where you know where you're going and the scenery is pretty. There's a lot of emphasis on education and learning about so many different things which is awesome if someone likes that kind of thing. The food is pretty good. The dorms aren't the best but that's expected in college. There are many activities for everyone to be involved in if they'd like to. It's very easy to make friends and connections. Overall Millsaps is a pretty cool college.

I am a senior and my dream is to get accepted into Millsaps College in Fall 2020. I have visited the campus on several occasions and I absolutely love everything about Millsaps. The faculty, staff, and student body are all so helpful. They make themselves available whenever you need to reach out to them,

Millsaps College is a challenging school academically. If one is looking to grow intellectually, Millsaps is the perfect school for this especially if you are from Mississippi. The professors are all experts in their field and care about their students. Class discussions are always intriguing relating the teaching to real experiences. The discussions are a safe place where students are willing to express their ideas and beliefs without persecution. I am a current senior and have attended Millsaps College for four years and have been able to find myself without all the external social pressures. Many times, students cannot be who they want to be due to fear of rejection from their friends and family but Millsaps is an inclusive place where one would be accepted always.
However, the cost of attending Millsaps is extremely high. With the cost being as high as it is, I would have liked to have better food and a nicer city. The Millsaps cafeteria and on-campus options are a failure to the students. The students loathe the options but are forced to buy a meal plan if they stay on campus. The food, sounding only good in the name, is despicable in taste especially for four years. Unlike other colleges, you cannot use the money on your meal plan towards local businesses or restaurants but only at Millsaps. The local restaurants close to Millsaps have few healthy affordable options. There are many fast-food chains where students end up eating due to their proximity. Healthy affordable options can be found in different cities via a car. Students choose either of these off-campus options over the school’s cafeteria rendering the meal plan and the money spent on it a waste. The scenery on campus is beautiful having fresh cut grass and many walkways illuminated by flowers. Unfortunately, as soon as one takes a step off of campus, it is a whole new world with poverty to your left, affluence to your right, and they are connected by pot-holed filled roads that stretch across the entire city.
Millsaps has its problems, especially the cost of tuition, but if one can get past this biggest hurdle, they will find an inclusive college where they can grow intellectually, be challenged academically, and feel embraced fully by all students and professors. They will have the means to shed all their inhibitions and be the person they want to be without the fear of persecution. Millsaps offers a safe place for everyone and it is not hard to find it.

I love the school. The location is not too far from home, and it is in the heart of Mississippi. The student teacher ratio is great, I feel that I can get a better one-on-one experience with my professors if I would need the help. The sports programs here are very good also. The coaches take their time with each team and make sure that their athletes are always well prepared and ready to compete.

Millsaps college is academically challenging private school. The small class time allows each student to work the professors. The professors are well educated in their subjects and challenges the students. The professors are also always willing to help students and always available to the students through email and office hours.
Millsaps tends to favor STEM and businesses majors over the humanities. However the humanity professors work hard to keep the majors fun and alive. The on campus living and food needs great improvement.

Even as a freshman, I can say with confidence that Millsaps is easily the best school I've ever attended. Not only are the classes challenging and engaging, but the amount of support and opportunities offered are unlike anything I've ever experienced. The professors are passionate about the topics and ideas they teach, the students are highly involved, creative and bright, and the atmosphere on campus is very welcoming and pleasant.

Millsaps College is a good university. After some thought, I wanted to revise my review. The academic environment is great, and I've learned how to write better thanks to some guidance and our Writing Center. However, as a digital art major, I never have time to draw, and I feel the teachers don't give us creative freedom. The Bacot residence house has reportedly not changed since the 70's. The bathrooms in the Academic Complex and Library are very neglected. In addition, the library only has non-fiction books...nothing for leisure. I'm pretty sure that's why no one really checks out anything.... The scholarships are not enough, even with the presidential + full pell grant, I have to pay $1,335.75/month + $37.25/fee per payment.
That's all I've got right now.

Due to the fact Millsaps is at the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, this school is wonderful for many different majors. Each student will have the opportunity to become involved with the campus or the community. While Millsaps is difficult academically, professors are usually very helpful and genuinely care about your well-being.

Millsaps College is an amazing school. Being there has challenged me and expanded me in ways that I never thought possible. I was not aware of how challenging the coursework would be when I applied, but I have found it to be a healthy challenge. Millsaps College has challenged me to confront my views, to talk about my experiences, and to accept others. Millsaps College cares about more than the coursework, they care about making capable people. Professors work to teach students not what to think, but how to think. They teach students the importance of forming our own opinions. The professors and other staff care about the student's well-being not just their academic performance. Millsaps College is a small, private college in Mississippi but it is not anything that you would expect.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Millsaps College is 59%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Congradulations on graduating! You will definitely miss high school. College is really hard, so pay attention in the classes you have left. Practice writing a lot and make sure you take note of everything you use on a daily basis. If you're going to live on campus, you need all the comforts of home in order to feel welcome at college. You may not get the best roommate in the world, but you can always switch rooms with someone. There is still going to be drama and people in your business, but don't give up. You will make friends, there will be a lot of peer pressure, and yes, the cafeteria food progressively gets worse. Don't worry. You can make it.
most of my classmates are bright , involved, and willing to learn and think in new ways. they are willing to help others when needed and are engaging with other students and professors.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
millsaps is a fairly small campus but has the feel of a bigger, state school. the small class sizes are ideal to student-teacher interaction and i believe creates a better learning environment. its location in jackson, ms is a great place for those seeking a variety of careers.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is the quality of the freshman dormitories. Dormitories are assigned according to year status and GPA, therefore all assignments are fair; however, the women's and men's freshman dorm buildings are some of the older on campus, and the rooms are very strangely laid out. The bathrooms have extremely old doors, and occasionally the plumping will clog and the showers do not work. Also, the heating system is sporadic. Therefore...I say deal with it for a year, then transfer to the suites! The pain for your freshman year is worth it.
Since graduating with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1976, I have attended graduate school in Texas and I have taught high school sciences and worked in industry in several disciplines including oil and gas, environmental and now explosives (including pyrotechnics, propellants and high explosives). Thirteen years ago my partner and I started our own consulting firm and are now completing a state-of-the-art production facility to produce military products.
I have never regretted having attended Millsaps and I am always quite proud when I encounter folks who know of Millsaps.
Millsaps provided me with an education and training to undertake whatever I have encountered along the way. I regret only that I was not more mature in my actions, my mind-set and my faith in Jesus Christ while at Millsaps when I could have benefited so much more from the experiences there.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I would've known how vital scholarships actually are. I thought I would be fine with just good grades from high school, but the costs of college keep adding up and pretty soon you'll realize that you should've spent the summer before college applying for a bunch of random scholarships. Even if you think you won't win, apply to the scholarship! You don't have anything to lose, but you have the possibility to gain something.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The cost of Millsaps definitely sets limitations on the desire for students coming from working middle class families to be able to maintain the cost of tuition in addition to their studies. A student enrolling at Millsaps must first---before making the final decision---weigh the stress of his/her financial situation according while also taking yearly, 3{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} tuition increases into account with financial aid rewards remaining the same. A forty thousand dollar liberal arts education is great and concentrating solely on school is easy when you have the funds.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Reach out! Go the extra mile! Make yourself get involved! And at the same time seek God's will for your life. Find a good Bible believing Bible teaching church in Jackson and get involved.
Grow in your faith as you expand your mind in the understanding of this great world that God has created.
The personal relationship one has with professors at Millsaps is invaluable to students.
When I attended graduate school at a large state university in Texas, I experienced the same personal relationship with professors.
But it was somewhat alarming to see how many undergrads were stuffed into freshman and sophomore level classes at that same university.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
the greek life, probably. we have a great greek community to where it is small enough to really get to know everyone in your own fraternity/sorority, but also other greek members. even though greek like has its exclusivity, we are still open to independents and are not solely associated with our fraternity/sorority.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Millsaps College receive some sort of financial aid.
28% were awarded federal grants.72%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
