The campus is absolutely stunning, many different housing choices, different cafe's and lunch places, and all surrounded by beautiful nature. This campus has a city that was built around it, and it gives many shopping options as well as food choices. It has different buildings for sports, or simply one to just exercise. The environment is calm, it is very cultural, and gives you an opportunity to be social and interact with others. You can study outside, inside, or even in a library designed for studying, This university is overall the best I've seen in many different ways.

During my time visiting Ohio University's main campus, I was consistently impressed by their very high standards of presentation. They have an absolutely expansive and beautiful campus, one that I believe I will greatly enjoy spending my time on. The dorms look great for my needs, and the classes I'll be able to take will exceptionally help me for my major, given that Ohio is one of the best schools for education majors around.

I love it!! Its so gorgeous and there is so many things/ activities to do. I love how close the restaurants are to my dorm and everything is easily walkable. The food in the dining hall was so delicious. I brought my family down and we ate in the dining hall and they loved it. Everything about Ohio Univeristy is to die for!!

Ohio University offers so many opportunities for students. There is a huge selection of majors and is located in the beautiful city of Athens, Ohio. The campus is small and quaint making you feel like you’re in a small town even though the University is not too small. It’s just the right size. You can walk around campus and have no need for a car. It’s beautiful and hilly with lots of green spaces. In the spring time, the cherry blossoms bloom along the hocking river. The university is the oldest university in Ohio, making it historical and unique. There’s a cute uptown, shopping area with restaurants bars, and gift shops. The professes in the art school are amazing and they’re there to help you anytime. The dorms are older and have character, but many have been updated with air conditioning and newer features. Do not expect to be living in the lap of luxury, but that’s the college experience!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell him to focus on school. After high school I wanted to enter into the work world and have fun, soon I realized how important it really is to have a college degree. I would tell my high school self that my academic performance shows great promise and to stick with it.

  4. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Unique about my school? Easily the diversity of thought that occurs on campus. There is no campus, or even locale, I have ever experienced which is more open to different ways of thinking about, and living, life. You very rarely find people here who are openly intolerant of other people's viewpoints or opinions.

  5. What are the academics like at your school?

It really depends on the teacher. I've had some teachers that bore me to death and I never even really know what they looked like until I turn in my final because I had to sit in the back of the lecture hall everyday. But I had one teacher who noticed that I loved his class by my grades and apparent eagerness that showed just sitting in his class. He talked to me outside of class and eventually convinced me to change my major. He is now my unofficial academic advisor. I also feel like I have more opportunities here. After just one quarter of PSY 101, my professor pink slipped me into PSY 390 and I'm doing research as a freshman.

  6. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The difference I found at OHIO when I transferred here was how involved the students are in everything. The administration really values the opinions of the students and are constantly trying to involve them in important decisions. I feel like OHIO really is run by the students.

  7. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

For the most part, yes. But it's not really a bad thing. There are other people here too if you don't fit into those two groups.

  8. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I was really surprised by how many people I met that didn't drink. If you don't drink, there are still so many things to do. My favorite thing to do is go to the Front Room in Baker Center every Friday night. I play board games with my friends and listen to the musicians playing until midnight, when a professional comedian performs. It's always a great way to end the week and start the weekend. Also, there are always performances and concerts and plays and speakers that actually have interesting things to say.

  10. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school is that it is not more than 30{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} handicapp accessible. I am not handicap but I do wonder sometime, if I would be able to go to this University if I were. I go to class each day and I admire those who need wheel chairs or crutches in order to get around campus. I wish that there were more buildings equipped to cater to handicap needs.

  18. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about this school is the administration. The administrators at this school are, to boil it down to a few choice adjectives, a bunch of greedy, apathetic, money-grubbing scrooges. The top administration, from the Board of Trustees down to the Provost, are more interested, and I am tempted to say, solely interested, in squeezing every last penny out of students pockets. This manifests itself in various ways; food quality (poor), education quality (good, but could be much better) and athletics (more emphasized for benefit of the administration as a profit-generating tool, than student enjoyment).

  19. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

The stereotype of students at Ohio University is that we are only about partying. While we do like to have fun with our free time we do not consider partying our top priority. Yes we are ranked as the number one party school in the country but we also have very established and well-known programs for many different majors. I am in the business school and I know for a fact that the business program here is committed to giving you real world experience and preparing you for life after college. People that are in my classes work diligently on their school work and don't let the partying image effect their schoolwork. Yes we do like to have fun on weekends and on our spare time but the stereotype of students at Ohio University only caring about drinking and partying and not about schoolwork is not only offensive to us, it is wrong as well.

  21. Why did you decide to go to this school?

I decided to go here because when I thought of OU after my visit, all of the other schools just seemed sad in comparison. Nothing is like OU. The students, the nature, the professors--I loved it all. Even the street food off of Court Street was amazing. I loved this little college town and I am proud to have called it my home for the past two years.
