The best advice that you can give any potential college student is to look at as many colleges as possible. This will enable you to find a place that will best fit your lifestyle and personality. The key to success is to study hard and get your work done before your social life and be sure to get out there and make some new friends. Afterall college is not just about learning and getting a good job. It's also about finding yourself, making friendships, and creating memories that will last you a lifetime.

The worst desicion you can make is picking a school just because your significant other is going there. Other than that, the best thing you can do is visit the school and try to talk to current students in the major you are considering. They will give you a lot more useful and truthful information than the college employees will.

Parents or students check everything the college offers such as majors and other opportunites like job placement. Also they should check events that are offered during the week or weekend. And to make sure the school is right for them.

Before deciding which college to attend, make sure to not only focus in on what the school has to offer but the city/town in which the school resides and the community. Be sure to visit the college AND the city/town to really get a feel of what it will be like to stay there for the next year and beyond. Would it be a place that you are comfortable living in and would be able to fit in, is it an area similar to the surrounding area you are in now or totally different. Can you handle it if the college town is completely different from the area you are use to. All these are important things to consider when selecting a college to go to because its not just about the school, the community is just as important. The college experience goes beyond the campus itself, it is the places you can go, sights you can see around the town/city to get away from the stresses of school work and spend time with college friends to create the college moments that you will remember for a lifetime.

To find the right college, I would suggest taking as many college visits to the ones you are interested in. That way you know the atmosphere and the enviroment you could possibly be in. To make most of your college experience join a club or activity that you have always been interested in. You will make many friends and feel apart of something. Colleges usual offer more varitey in activites then in high school.
