While I thought the teachers and staff were helpful and focused on academics, I felt very unsafe just by the bathrooms. While visiting I tried to find a restroom as a woman. I went down the hallway where it said the bathrooms were, I noticed the men's bathroom I couldn't find the women. While expressing this to my friend she pointed out that there was a women's bathroom right next to the males. The only issue was it didn't say women; it said by quote, "All User Restroom" in bold letters, and under that it stated, "People of any gender identity and expression are welcome to use this restroom." It was a stall restroom, not a single-use. I had to use the restroom and couldn't wait until 3 hours later for when I would go home. While using this restroom I watched a few men walk in. I don't care if they identified as a woman because they had a male reproductive system. I felt very unsafe using the restroom and it ruined my whole day knowing they didn't prioritize women's safety.

I have enjoyed the Sylvania and Rock creek campuses although I feel there are little to no activities outside of class to engage and connect freshman students. It has been pretty difficult to connect with other students besides on or two in my classes. I do love that my professors are very encouraging and have been great for helping me explore opportunity's within there field of study.

I have recently transferred to George Fox University so I am not currently attending classes. I am still enrolled. I have attended PCC for 4 years and I am very grateful for my experience! I love my Academic Advisor. She is not only interested in aiding me on my academic journey, but she truly cares about my well-being. She encouraged me to ask for help when I need from my teachers, gave me advice on how to deal with my mental health using campus resources, and helped me realize that taking a semester off does not make me a failure. My professors were extremely available and responded to emails quickly. PCC offers many resources for struggling students such as emergency grants, housing assistance resources, and a food pantry.
I encourage anyone who is looking at PCC to enroll!

I am pleased with it, overall. The distance learning aspect has not bode well for a lot of students these past several months, but it is manageable, I suppose. My professors are easily accessible by way of email, and the classes are small, which makes it easier to reach out to and receive feedback from them directly.

Very safe and nice place to start college. Everyone is very welcoming and the food is alright and sold at a decent price. I recommend the fries they are delicious. Affordable tuition as someone who regularly takes 16 credits per term. Around $2500 or well below so you can afford it. Lots of clubs to dabble in and you can easily access professors during office hours. Just make sure to check Ratemyprofessor for a successful term.

PCC is a great college for students straight out of high school who either aren't sure what they want to major in, or are unready to move out to a four year college. The tuition is a fraction of what you would have to at a state university. The professors are knowledgeble in their subject and eager to help students.

Overall a good community college to start off with. I absolutely love the ceramics program. I would also strongly recommend any class ran by Dr. Byrd.
Students and staff are very diverse and accepting. I went to PCC for just over 3 years and not once did I hear of or experience any kind of discrimination.

I love PCC and am very glad to be able to be attending this community college! People are friendly and it feels very safe. I know exactly where to go for any kind of help and there is a lot of student support for ethnicity, gender, orientation etc. Food is pretty good too:)

Some of the best art students I've ever met are in my PCC classes. Our professor is always trying to help everyone improve, whether we're there to fill a credit requirement or as art majors - he notices our skill level and works from there, and our lectures are interesting and thoughtful as well. PCC is a wonderful resource and I hope more people take advantage of it.

Portland Community College is a great school to start your education without having to pay university costs for general education requirements. During my two years of attending, I took most of my classes online. The online platform was easy to follow, and you could easily tell what assignments, tests, and quizzes were due. The few classes I took on campus, the classes were small so you could get one-on-one help quickly. The also have multiple campuses across the Portland Metro area, making it convenient to attend no matter where you live.

I have had a wonderful experience here. They really set you up well to transfer for another university in order to continue your education. The teachers are great, and I would encourage you to look them up online to find a good fit. I think this is a great institution that truly cares about their students.
Sophia - 02/05/2020
The staff are amazing and helpful, my teachers have always been accessible and informative, and the learning platforms outside of school such as the college website/blackboard are user-friendly and help integrate learning into daily life. The Sylvania campus is my favorite, but all campuses are lovely and updated with various facilities such as the pool and gym that I quite enjoyed.

Returning to school after 12 years in the workforce has been an overwhelming experience in general, but having campus so close to home makes things a bit easier though I'm finding myself in classes with mostly significantly younger students and a very much '13th grade' setting. I'm hoping with taking some more advanced classes I'll be with a bit more of an age mixture and less of the 'extended high school' feel. Being Portland it definitely feels more on the progressive side; after being out of school for so long I'm not sure if it's par for the course now for instructors inquire about preferred pronouns, but that was a first for me. I think it's too early to give a definite rating but I'm hopeful of a good experience.
Isabella - 01/22/2020
The staff is very helpful and friendly. There are a lot of helpful resources to assist students with finding jobs/careers, tutoring, and financial support. The resources are easily accessible and are made well known across campus. The professors are very kind and helpful. The buildings are set up nicely so it's. easy to find where you need to go. I think it's a great school for people who are just starting college.
Madison - 12/23/2019
I really enjoy this school. The class sizes are small and the students tend to be friendly. I wished the school advertised more after school activities like sports and clubs. I think it would make the school feel more like a community. The campus is clean and safe for the most part. The food is also pretty good, but some of the vending machines don't work which is frustrating.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Portland Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time and tell myself about college life, I would tell myself to enjoy senior year a lot more. I would enjoy the walks down the halls, the bells chiming and warning us that we are late for class, and enjoy the slow pace at which students take to get to class. College atmosphere is very different, students are rushing to go to class & classes move at a fast pace. I assume this is because education is no longer free and hundreds of dollars are being spent for an education. So if I could go back in time I would tell myself to enjoy (responsibly), my last year as a high school student and leisurely make the transition to an adult in college.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is that they have multiple campuses spread throughout the city and adjacent suburbs. Courses are offered at different campuses, which sometimes results in having to travel all over town each day.
The best thing about Portland Community College is that the class size are smaller, hence it let the students get one-on-one with the proffesors. Second, there is someone who is always willing to help. Third, the tuition is low so it gives students a chance to go to school.
Allowing any aged human being to persue their dreams and reach them. There is no holding back, only pushing forward at Portland Community College. Getting you ready to succed in having an Associates or Transfer Degree to a 4-year college to continue on with your dreams.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Well, this will be my last term at PCC because I'll be attending a very expensive cooking school in Portland. So of course I'm always bragging about the amazing food court!! There are so many places to eat with great food.
I feel that Portland Community College has a great student body. Everyone is respectful of each others learning environment. There is quite a diversity of age groups attending PCC. It's very easy to make new friends because everyone is so nice. It's rare that someone will not open a door for you. A very respectable student body, the professors are great, and the campus is lovely.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
There are many clubs, teams, and organizations at PCC. Unfortunately, I have no time to appreciate them because I have to go to work after school. Dating at PCC is a lot like any other colleges. People meet, they hang out together, hold hands, but are respectful to others around. I have not heard of any parties at PCC. I feel that the college environment is more mature than other colleges. There are plenty of restaurants off campus, I find it a great way to meet up with friends and study.
