I think Randolph Macon College is a wonderful place. I would say the class size and the proximity to stores/fast food places is my favorite thing. Most stores and fast food places are a 15-20 minute walk from campus which is great for people like me who didn't bring a car. If you are religious there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with your faith via on campus faith groups. The housing could definitely be better and the food isn't horrible but it's meh. There are a good amount of food options within the one dining hall though, and there is birdsong grill which is really nice. Overall, it's a very nice campus that I really recommend.

Randolph-Macon College is a college I would recommend for anyone who enjoys the life of a small college campus and not be overwhelmed on a large one such as Virginia Tech or University of Virginia. The college is just a peaceful and quiet campus to live and study on. It's a very safe campus with pretty much a non-existent crime rate (i.e. assault, theft, murder, rape, and other crimes). The professor are great to talk with and answer questions wit the answer you exactly need and overall it's just a great a campus to help you get your education and degrees with less stress and pressure. The food is somewhat iffy but it has it's moments. Given that it is a small campus there is really not much to do other than a few events a club would host almost every month but other than that there is really not much. This is a college for a quite and simple life to study and work. If you ask me my rating for RMC it would be 11/10, and yes I meant 11 out of 10 as it's much better than 10.

Randolph Macon College is very welcoming! Whenever I've visited everyone has been so kind and made me feel at home right away. The campus is also very beautiful and in a nice area. Everyone going there is very active, whether that be in a sport or club activity! Small class sizes and professors are always willing to help students in need.

Randolph-Macon is a family, everyone there is so nice and always supports each other. The sports teams are great, the academics are great, and the overall feel of the school is so home-like. I couldn't ask for a better fit! You have to visit Randolph-Macon College

Randolph Macon is a school that gives off the image of being a community. The truth is the school only wants you to be in that community if you are wealthy and they can profit off of you. They will try your first year there to assist you financially however they can however if they treat you like they did me they will want nothing to do with you you’re second year if you cannot financially provide what they ask. Your scholarship amount will decrease each year and if you live on campus they charge you three fees a semester with add up to nearly 10,000 a year to live in a single room with a roommate that most often doesn’t have hot water or heating/AC

Randolph-Macon is a place that I can call home. I'm an out of state student so Randolph-Macon makes me become independent. It helps students with experiences and how to become an adult. It focuses a lot on academics, but it focuses on how a student will be once they're out in the real world. I love the college a lot and recommend it to many people.

Randolph-Macon is a very nice college. It's in a small town. The campus is beautiful! The football team is great! It is a great home away from home for four years and there's a train station right behind the campus. The class sizes are small and the professors are always available. The buildings are well lit and the campus housing accommodations are good. The dorms are nice sizes and are well lit, has working ac and heat.

Originally, Randolph-Macon College was not on my list of potential colleges. I only applied because I had heard that R-MC gave a lot of financial aid, and I need financial support to be able to attend college. I only decided to attend because of the financial benefit to me, but honestly, I really do like the environment at R-MC. I like the liberal arts approach to education, and all of the professors I have had so far have been engaged and unendingly helpful. Everyone on the campus is very nice and helpful as well; however, R-MC does lack diversity in its student body. There are also some issues with the food on campus, but nothing too major, since there are a few options to choose from, and fast food restaurants are also nearby.

The class sizes are great and the professors are very knowledgeable. Food is not very good and there is little choice for Greek life. The housing is alright, either you get an old hall or a new one. Overall it is a good small private school for academics.

I love Randolph-Macon! Because of the size of the school, I have been able to take advantage of multiple opportunities that I would not have had without being a student here, including studying abroad multiple times. The professors are great, and really know what they're talking about, and they are here to help, and they really want to! The food is not the best, but it has gotten better in the last couple years, so efforts are being made. The friends I've made here will surely last a lifetime, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love the school as an academic entity. Our classes are the perfect size (25 max). There are so many opportunities to get involved and succeed. We have free tutoring and paid summer research programs. Professors will use their connections to help students reach full time employment by graduation. I know all of my professors on a first name basis. It is a small campus so it is easy to make friends. The food is not great but is improving. On campus housing is based on a lottery determined by academic credits— because of this, you can either end up somewhere very nice or an absolute dump. Ashland is a very small town and a car is recommended. However, the surrounding Richmond area is fantastic and there are so many fun things to do. We have a big weekend party scene but there are plenty of other things to do if partying is not your thing. We have free movies, late night free food, etc. Personally, our education is better than even some ivy league schools. If I had to do it over again, I would still come back to Macon.

The educational opportunities are wonderful, the class and small and challenging, and the professors care about their students' education. The social life is sub par, there is not much to do unless you are of legal drinking age, and the college administration are very difficult to work with.

During my time at Randolph-Macon, I underwent a lot of individual development as every college student does. The institution was very supportive of this with its facilities and liberal arts approach to academics, however, I felt as though sometimes it was too broad. While I loved my major in communications and I had an emphasis, I wish there had been more opportunities to pursue topics more extensively.
As I mentioned, Randolph-Macon has great facilities for its students (all of its services are unlimitedly free for students - tutoring, writing aid and counsoling) and it is well connected (they put a great deal of effort into making sure students feel prepared for the step following graduation with their career center and events), however, it is limited to a very small scale of connections.
During my studies I realized my hunger for life and success would take me out of Virginia and maybe even the US, while they offer attractive semester abroad programs thats about as far as it went. They also have a great internship database, but it is centralized in the surrounding area namely. While this is great for students who wish to stay in that "bubble" or a neighboring one, it can be very isolating to those who do not.
The class size and in particular the staff, really make for a personal education and I really felt like I had deep relationships with many of my professors and the staff I came in connect with, which I would not have had without the small school atmosphere.
Reagan - 12/19/2017
Randolph-Macon College is the epitome of a small liberal arts college, and it lives up to this stigma. Students gain a broad education, and even in classes that aren't catered to their major, students recieve important skills they can utilize everywhere. The unique sturucture of the school allows students to have full access to their professors, the school's faculty, and their peers. More than anything, Randolph-Macon is committed to creating a stable future for their students in anyway they can, whether that be through the edge career center, the manipulation of alumni resources, the liberal arts curriculum, the emphasis placed on writing at the college, student extracurriculars and the close-knit community the college offers.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Randolph-Macon College is 61%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Dear me,
As you are about to enter college, it's very important to understand who you are and what you are trying to get out of the college experience. Knowing these things can affect decisions on friends, classes, degrees, and your entire future. While you may not have an exact plan for your entire future and career goals, and you do have time to figure it out, don't stop thinking about it or assume it will work itself out. Do what you think you will be happiest doing as well as what you would be successful doing. Don't allow people to pressure you into doing things that you know aren't right. Also, make sure you take the time to apply for as many scholarships as possible. Putting in the extra effort now and each year could drastically affect the amount of debt that you graduate with.
The resources and tunnel vision toward being sucessful. Everything is geared toward helping you as a person grow individually and academically, and the resources available are fansatsic to helping students gain confidence to be sucessful. The student body is concerned with learning and takes the initiative to learn on their own and to ask professors for guidance. This environment makes you want to learn more and try harder to grasp the concepts at hand. At R-MC, the whole person is vauled and you are very much an individual that professors, students, staff and administrators remember just after one introduction.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
It is very rigourous; however you learn a lot from teachers who actually want you to do well; aslo, it has small class sizes, so teachers can better focus their attention on you.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
It's small and pretty and the heart of the town. All the other schools I looked at were massive compared to RMC and it is why in the end I choose to attend.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
More information about all the majors and minors offered. If you have an idea of what you want to major in, I suggest you request as much information about it as possible. And maybe even visit classes in progress to see if you would like the major or minor before declaring.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
This is a mostly conservative school with religion ranging 98{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Catholic, 2{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} other. Liberal students should keep their views to themselves.... they'll see controversy in normal conversations for them.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Everything is almost perfect. The student body, the professors, they might be from different backgrounds and racial/ethnic groups and with different interests but in this college, every one thinks the SAME. this can be good or bad. depends how you want to look at it. if you're someone different, you'll become just like everyone else in no time. comes in handy when you dont have to work hard fitting in. even for international students.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Randolph-Macon College receive some sort of financial aid.
23% were awarded federal grants.63%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
