While at RCTC, I had the privilege of learning under some of my all-time favorite professors. I was a dual-enrollment student, and my goal was to complete the first year of my chemical engineering degree while in high school. I took chemical principles, classical physics, calculus 1 and 2, psychology, and philosophy. The largest in-person class I was part of was about twenty students with the smallest being nine. This allowed me to ask questions and form relationships with the professors. Even after completing their classes, the professors would stop and talk to me in the hallway and want to know what my plans were. The drawbacks of RCTC were the student atmosphere and the cafeteria food. Generally, students did not make much of an effort to become friends and different ethnicities stayed in groups and did not intermingle, depriving RCTC of the comradery and cultural richness other schools have. The cafeteria food was drastically overpriced with limited options, so it was best to pack a lunch or get food elsewhere. Looking back, I have good memories of RCTC and would highly recommend high school students to take advantage of dual enrollment.

I think it is a great school. It offers more than what a conventional 2-year school offers. And, especially with healthcare, the job market is really good for the area, after graduation. There are school sports, but, there isn't much of anything else, and they aren't always that competitive. But, academically, I think it is one of the best schools in the area for a 2-year school.

I attended Rochester Community and Technical College from Fall of 2013 until graduating in Fall of 2017. The most frustrating part about attending Rochester Community and Technical College was that they required me to take remedial courses before enrolling in the college level courses. I was required to enroll in an additional year before beginning my intended major's courses. The campus life thrived, and students enjoyed attending sports activities as well as other extra-curricular events. Overall, I would recommend Rochester Community and Technical College to anyone who is unsure of their future endeavors.

RCTC is very affordable. The campus is nice and the professors have always been very nice. Nearby, affordable housing is in a very sketchy area. Rochester is a clean city. The downtown has a fun vibe. The Mayo Clinic is here, so medical treatment is very good if you need it.

Great place to go if you want smaller class sizes and more one-on-one time with your professors. You get to know a lot of people in your class who you can contact if you need more help. There is always someone available to help in any way very promising School.

Rochester community and technical college provides a good education at an affordable price. There are many teachers that put a lot of effort and time in their job of helping us learn and understand. There is good diversity at school. It is a fairly safe environment.

I’ve never really been into touring colleges or going out of town far away and living in a dorm. I finally found out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and I was passionate about it. I found RCTC and did a little research to find out they had a vet tech program. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me!! I love the college!

I am attending in the Fall 2018 and I am extremely excited to start my classes and meet new people. Also excited to meet my professors and hopefully make a good bond with them. Excited to attend activities and clubs. I'm looking forward to join the security club my second year for students majoring in Law Enforcement. I am looking forward to everything except the bills.

My overall opinion of Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) is that it is a good school and a good environment to obtain your Associate's degree. Since my major is Engineering, I feel that RCTC provides the foundation to prepare me for a transfer to a four-year university as I will be pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Business or Graphic Design.

Rochester Community and Technical College is an amazing school. I always enjoy going to class because the teachers and students are all very wonderful. I am from a very small town, and the class sizes on campus are perfect for me. All of my teachers have all been very helpful and hands-on. If I ever have a problem in a class, I can send an email to my teacher, and they are very helpful and understanding to what my problem is. I absolutely love being on campus because there is always something going on, but I can also always find a quiet place to study, and there is always help on campus if I ever need it.

The experience at rochester is calm and serine. I feel like i am away in my own world but still in a smaller version of the cities. The people are all friendly but mostly stay to themselves and theres plenty to do and eat around. Overall the school is a good choice for someone who wants to be on their own and is just stepping into adult life.

RCTC is a great school to help traditional and non-traditional students get acquainted with college life and academics at college level. I appreciate the affordability and the overall culture of the college. RCTC is not only a starter college, but they are expanded their program options and partnering with other schools to really help the students attending reach degrees beyond associates.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Rochester Community and Technical College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I have always loved to do everything that I posssibly could. My most important advice would be to not take on too much at once. I love to do music and theater, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Keeping care of yourself first and foremost is very curcial to staying healthy physically and mentally. If things are getting out of hand, take a break and step back. Being realistic in what one person can do is a great step.
Work ahead at every possible given moment. This gives you more time to have fun and goof around. When there isn't time to enjoy life, then that takes the fun experience out of college.
Remember to work hard, time manage your activities, and most importanly, have fun.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school is so diverse and everyone seems to get along. Before attending this college, I wasn't used to being around so many different people. It's great to see so many people of different backgrounds get along. Not only that, but my school participates in the "Purple Plus" program where you can receive an associates degree before you receive your bachelors using the credits from your associate degree.
The best thing about my school is that there are many different types of people from all over the US and it's cool to talk to them and get to know them. What I'm saying can be the best thing about any school, but the best thing I would say from my experience at RCTC is that you get to meet a lot of good people. I've met people that have a totally different perspective of life from me and I learn from them that there is a lot of learning to do.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
The kind of person that should not attend this college are students how don't want to be going to school and just don't care about school. You need to be willing to learn to actually learn. The professors don't have to teach you and their not going to make you do the homework; it's your money going down the drain. In this world no one can afford to waist away thier money. Just pay attentioin but if your not going to at least try to learn then there is no sence in attending college.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about the affordable cost and the variety of student life activities. According to the average college or university, RCTC is very affordable for students. The school works with the state to have cheaper tuition. Aside from sports, there is a student life group for almost every topic and major. There is something for every student to be involved in.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Being a combination of 2 schools in 1 location, RCTC offers a plethora of majors, sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activies in order for every student to have a true college experience at an affordable price.
RCTC is best known for the nursing programs. The Mayo Clinic is located about 15 minutes from the school and RCTC has programs for nursing that help students get a job in the clinic, which also helps the Rochester community. The teachers teaching those classes are also very professional in a sense that they know what they are talking about and can explain it fully. RCTC is also known for their collaboration with Winona State University. To get a 4 year degree, students are able to transfer to Winona State straight from RCTC through programs that interwhine with both colleges.
