San Jacinto Community College has always been my first choice, meaning I have always wanted to go there. It's an affordable school, and I won't have to drive many hours away from home to attend class. Even though it's small and is a community college, they have a good student life and great academic options, certifications to transfer degrees, which can lead to various career paths. San Jacinto is a safe place to study, they provide all day patrols. The college is also known for its supportive community. San Jac is a great place to grow successfully and with good academic options.

San Jac has a very close knit community and I like that. The class sizes are smaller and so that means everyone is more personable and connected.

San Jacinto Community College is a place where students feel bonded with their community because the activities and events hosted. We have a honors section that allows students to pursue more challenging classes and become more engaged at the school. I participate in the San Jacinto WEBB Historic Society that focuses on the preservation and important of history. The club has made several trips to teach their students about the history around them and what they can learn from it. The club presented so well at the TSHA meeting in Dallas, we were welcomed by JP Bryan himself to get toured and have dinner with him at the Bryan Museum. I also participated in the San Jacinto Finance and Investment Club for three years in which we created the first ever hedge fund managed by a community college. We also made a visit to New York Stock Exchange and got a tour of the place by Peter Tuchman. The college is filled with opportunities to explore more and meet amazing caring people. Some of the best professors I have worked with here are Dr. Grubb, Dr. Weller, and Professor Mayes. They have created organizations to assist their students and continuously work to benefit the facility. The college is truly a loving place for many where you can grow with courage alongside others.

San Jac? This place saved me tons of money? One thousand five hundred dollars? That would be a life changing amount of money, not only for a high schooler, but for the average American right now. After covid, many Americans faced more than the virus, they were starting down the barrel of bankruptcy, living off unemployment or stimulus checks, or having to sell family heirlooms to stay afloat.
For my family, covid hit us especially hard. As my parents are older than most, they were scared that they might not live through the pandemic, and rightfully so as the rest of their age group were suffering hard when they got Covid-19. Given this extra kick of fear into the family, my parents went into saving mode. We are a pretty lower middle, middle class family, and have some amount of money in savings for emergencies or renovations, but the price gouging during covid started to tick away at the family bank account.
Having lived through that, one thousand five hundred dollars would make a huge difference. It would allow me to put one thousand five hundred dollars of money that would be spent on my college education to instead be invested in a future fund at Goldman Sachs or Charles Schwab. Thus, allowing me to have a sort of passive income during college that I can keep putting in till I have enough to buy a house. Stating the obvious again, one thousand five hundred would be pretty lifechanging for not just me, but for anyone who survived Covid.

It is a good school for the most part. Some professors are not very good at teaching, and it can be difficult to enjoy those classes, but others are pretty good. The buildings are okay and there are lots of places to sit and hang out. The food is good at the student center and there are vending machines but some of the prices are expensive.

San Jacinto College provides a healthy environment. However, you must be careful while choosing professors. My experience with professors has not been great. I advise all students to check the professor’s rating before signing up for the class. The class size is small if you take an elective class. Other than that, you might have class with two sections combined which I personally don't like because it is hard to connect with the professor.

It's a great school to attend and be able to be apart of the community of San Jacinto. The reason that I say this is because this college is known for their programs and the best accessible education, that offers a variety of certifications for all different type of careers.

In my experience of attending class there, the professors are welcoming and patient with the students when it comes to asking questions and participating in class. If you have a problem, you can ask anyone around for help with even the simplest of things such as finding your class and figuring out your schedule. All in all, getting help from the people attending or working at San Jacinto Community College has been great and clear.

I am in my last year to complete my sixty-credit hours of college and I have never had a bad experience with a professor. One attribute of college that I find most critical is the professors. I find it easier to excel in college if your educator and the students around you care about your success and at San Jacinto College, I have found nothing but support from my peers and teachers. I love every single one of my professors and although it is a community college and offers slightly less than a university, this place will always be a good memory as those that surrounded me made it easy to learn and accelerate into my career.

My opinion of San Jacinto Community College is that the staff are a hit or miss for their passion for their career. Some are very passionate while others are not as with most universities. One can complete the general requirements for the associate degree and transferring to a higher institution later on. I love how affordable it is and often free for surrounding highschool districts with their promise programs. There are numerous groups and clubs to choose from but there is definitely a lack of passionate student bodies as well. All in all, it is a great place for what a community college should be.

I think this college is very good if you are looking to pay less for your education since it is a community college but I do feel like people don't really talk with each other. Most of the professors answer their email fast and can help you especially if you join a technical program.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
When I was a senior, I made every mistake. I went to a wonderful school, and had opportunities. That is 18 long, arduous years ago. Now 35 years old, I have since learned a wealth of life lessons. The obvious lesson is that out in the big bad world, life beats you up and you need a degree to open doors to happiness. My advice to myself would be to have focused on what I was doing at that time, and not have waited until later in life when it is more difficult. If too much time passes, you can find yourself in a situation such as me, where you are mother of a toddler working a commission job. I would have told myself how precarious that is, and how I would always wonder where the next commission would come from. Also that the smarter route would be to do it at 18, living at home sans bills. Additionally that it in the end, it will still be OK though because at 35, I am an even better student, with a 3.9 GPA. Honestly, at 18, would I have even listened to my older self? Who knows!
I love how friendly and committed the teachers are. For example, when I was taking a full load of fairly hard courses, I couldn't afford to get behind at all. At one point I was struggling, but I e-mailed a few of my teachers and they helped me, in person, trying to change the method of teaching until I finally understood it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The absolute worst thing about my school is the crim in the parking lot. I know everywhere has crime now a days, but the cars are still being broken into. I know the police are doing their jobs, but I just wish there were just a few more survalencing the parking lots at all angles. Even having unmarked and out of uniform police offers would work. You never know if you are going to run into one.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
While my school is only a small two year community college, it's one of the most respected schools in my area. Most graduating seniors attend San Jacinto college before transferring to a larger four year school. The campus is very open and a great place to absorb knowlege.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
San Jacinto really caters to their students. I have never attended any other college but I feel I would not be treated as well. I believe that I why I have been attending San Jac for so long!
there is no typical student at san jac. I have had classes with retired pro football players and classes with recovering drug addicts. I have been in classes with openly gay individuals and people of amish beliefs. black, white, brown, yellow...san jac is a Crayola box of ethnicities and tolerance toward all. as long as you are there to study and are pursuing your degree you too are the average student.
One main thing prosepective students want to know is am I just a number to my teacher or does he really know my nam. Well at San Jacinto College the Professor all try hard to learn the students name. My favorite class I took was Microbiolgy and Pathology, the lab part is what i enjoyed the most because it was very hands on we were always doing experiments. Education is key at this school they provived free tutouring and labs to help students if they are struggling. Also the school has college transfer days and job fare days as welll.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I wouldn't neccessarily say San Jacinto College had a sterotype. It is known for a wide range of diversity as a matter of fact, in regards to age, race, personality, and culture.
One thing i really like about San Jacinto is that is very student orientated, they are always sending out emails telling us about school activitves that are going on around school. The Professors that I have taken, have all been really great and really love what they are teaching, which than helps the student learn. Spend most of my free time which is inbetween classes is in the student center where most of the activity are held plus the food is in that building and all my friends as well.
