Great school with most great professors. The campus is nice and the environment. I'm in the ASL program and it's really a great stepping stone for becoming an American Sign Language interpreter. It only has two interpreting classes, but the ASL classes are great. The professors are very supportive and encouraging to help us learn the language.

Solano Community College stands out as a truly outstanding educational institution. The faculty at Solano are highly committed to creating a secure and supportive learning environment for all students. The college's overarching dedication to the mental and physical well-being of its students is evident in various initiatives and resources offered. What sets Solano apart is its holistic approach to student success. The institution goes beyond academics, prioritizing the overall health and welfare of its students. This commitment is reflected in the diverse range of services and resources provided. Whether it's counseling services, health programs, or other student support initiatives, Solano Community College demonstrates a genuine investment in the holistic development of its student body. One remarkable aspect that has personally impacted my educational journey is the exceptional tutoring center. Despite not being inclined to seek help from tutors previously, the center at Solano has been a game-changer. The support and guidance received there have played a pivotal role in my academic progress and understanding of various subjects. Choosing to continue my studies at Solano Community College is not only a testament to its academic excellence but also a recognition of the nurturing and supportive environment it offers. The college's commitment to student success, coupled with the valuable resources available, makes it an ideal place for furthering my education.

I dont think the community college is bad but i have heard better reviews from nearby schools. The counselors aren’t as helpful as other schools, but i do find that if you already know the steps to take to enter your career the school isn't a bad choice. The teachers are fun and if you are the tyoe to voice you opinion and speak out i would definitely recommend taking classes here.

It’s a good school, with good affordable programs with a nice campus. They are in the middle of renovating many buildings and completing a new library, and adding new programs often. Professors and students are respectful and available, and the area is very safe.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time as a high school senior, I would tell myself that going to college is not an option, it is a necessity. I would tell myself that an education is what puts you above your competitors- not how much money you?ve made in your lifetime or what jobs you?ve previously held. When it comes right down to the facts, an employer will hire someone with an education/degree even if two job candidates were equally qualified. I would also tell myself that you don?t have to go right to a four-year college right out of high school. Many times, students are discouraged about going to college because they are not qualified to apply to a four-year college due to poor grades or financial reasons. Sometimes, a Community College is the best avenue to take and it is always a less expensive option. I would also tell myself to enjoy school and take your time to find out what YOU really want to do in life. Many people pick majors or degrees to please someone else instead of really thinking about what their own destiny is in life.

  3. Describe the students at your school.

They're a lot more intelligent and mature overall than the people I was used to associating myself with in high school, which I think is mostly a product of the fact that all ages can attend college, not just young chips fresh out of high school such as myself. I think another contributing factor is the Fairfield community, which I am fairly new to, but from what I've seen, the people here are generally more polite and civilized than in most of the cities I've lived.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I think the worst thing about the school is some of the requirements for classes. I do think that it's good that they have math labs, english labs, etc. but I don't think it should be required to have 16 or more hours in the lab to pass the class. Some students prefer not going and studying or doing homework by themselves, and other students are too busy to find time to go to the lab. I think it should be optional instead of required.

  7. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is the flexibility that it offers its students. The campus is very diverse, and it has a college feel, without being overwhelmingly large( since it is a community college). The fact that there are many extension programs that link you closer to big universities gives us a chance to further explore options beyond just getting our AA degree, it shows us the different possibilities we truly have when it comes to transferring.

  9. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that it doesn't matter how long it takes me to figure out what I want to do as long as in the end I am happy with my decisions. I shouldn't have felt pressured to decide right away. It is my life and the choices and decisions I make help define who I am going to be and what I am going to do in the future, so I should have fun while I do it!

  11. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about Solano CC is the fact that within Student Services (Admission, Financial Aid, Counseling, etc.)- there are always tremendous lines. The people helping the students are frustrated and are in a rush to get you out of the way. On too many occasions, incorrect information is given to the students. In many cases, this has resulted in unnecessary classes taken and time wasted.

  13. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Unfortunately our sports program had been cut some years prior which definitely would have been the most popular. For me I would have to say theatre. I'm not too sure how how everyone else might feel towards the theater program, but I have always had a love towards theatre.
