I absolutely love it. It has an immense number of activities to do for everyone, ranging from clubs to movie nights etc. Everyone here is very kind, and the professors are great and willing to work with students to help them achieve success. The campus is in the mountains and is absolutely stunning. The town its located in is very small, but very artsy and has lots of food trucks and other small, cute businesses to choose from. I feel very safe on campus and never really fear to walk around by myself. The campus is also not too big, everything is a walkable distance (around a 5-10 min walk depending on walking speed), and you never have to worry about being late for classes given you leave 5-10 mins before it begins. Overall, I absolutely love it and encourage anyone looking for a university to give it a shot!

It’s a great school but the financial aid department slacks. It’s Ana amazing school with great professors. The professors tend to keep class energized and are amazing at staying focused. I love the small classes to help stay focus. Friendly students all around

Sul Ross State University is a great school to attend! I pay out of pocket but it is still affordable to where I only need to work one job to pay for my school and that includes my rent and utilities and other personal bills. The staff and students are personable and always there to help anyone who needs the help! The community around is also great and very helpful.

Sul Ross is a great little school in a very quiet and small town. If you really like that sort of thing this is the place for you. The town of Alpine is only about 6,000 people there and the streets roll up around 9:00 pm during week and maybe find some stuff on Friday and Saturday after 10:00 pm. But the school is great the people running the school are fun and always willing to help a new student find their college legs. The professors are amazing. They are willing to meet you after class or schedule time to help you understand your assignments and anything you need help doing. With class sizes around 15 to 20 students per class you get a lot of one on one time with your professor. Most of them are very witty and fun while teaching. The grounds are nice and taken care of, so the school always looks neat and tidy. They have two types of dorms. Fletcher hall which is like the old school dorms where you share a room with one big room. Two beds, two desk, and small wash area with a sink. You share a bathroom with the room next to you. (Not much fun but it is what it is) Then there is the Lobo Den. Now these are great it’s like being in two-bedroom apartment with just you and one other person. You have your own bedroom but share the bathroom with just your roommate. So, If anyone was to ask me if I like being a Lobo all I do it howl like a Lobo. Love this school

This is a great school for anyone who love not only being out doors but loves to hike as well as make the most out of their free time with little to none. The food is not the best and the town is small but it’s great to get away and focus on school and classes.

While Sul Ross has its ups and downs, it is a great school. Despite the fact that I am transferring in the fall, I believe that students who attend will enjoy it. There are wonderful professors that create a comfortable learning environment and are available whenever they are needed.

Sul Ross State University is a wonderful school with many opportunities that will allow us to become the faces of the future as we learn and grow throughout our years in college. Sul Ross has beautiful scenery and an amazing athletics program filled with many successful student athletes. Everyone gladly engages into making this experience the best that it can be and plays a great role into making the college life memorable.

I really liked the Campus and the Town When I went to Visit. Sul Ross is a Beautiful Campus Surrounded by the Davis Mountains. You Stand on The Steps of The University and overlook Alpine ,Tx. Decided this is where I will Call Home for the next 4 years.

Overall I feel very glad to be attending Sul Ross. it is a great campus and I enjoy going school there. Although the school is located in a relatively small town, that is what makes it so great. It is very secluded and everyone there seems to know you especially if you play sports. I am used to the small town feeling because that's what I lived through all y school years.

Withe the nearest Walmart 65 miles away, Sul Ross State University could be considered "middle of nowhere", but with the calm atmosphere, small classes sizes, readily available professors, below average tuition, walk-able town, dark starry nights, I can do with out a Walmart.

Sul Ross stood out to me because of all the natural land and wildlife but mainly because the professors are so willing to work with you and actually take the time to get to know you. They are flexible and will help and whichever way they can. I also love how small the classroom sizes are.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Sul Ross State University is 92%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself not to get private school loans, to try and apply for as many scholarships as possible before resorting to loans. I would also tell myself to work hard and fast to finish my degree in the shortest time possible. I would apply for better universities and research what it was interested in studying.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I chose SRSU because it is really close to home. I love it because the campus is beautiful, the people are great and you get that one-on-one with your teachers! I am the kind of learner that needs to know my teacher and the classrooms are great!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
It just seems that the administration does not care for their athletic teams enough to give them a fighting chance to compete in a very competitive conference.
They are really good at helping students academic wise. There are tutors for every subject for those who struggle. It helps students increase their confidence in their academics because of the help that is available.
I did not attend Sul Ross, but two of my sons did. One graduated from there, the other transferred to another university (following his girlfriend at the time!). I loved working with the Sul Ross staff. Everyone was always helpful and friendly. Parents can be just as confused as students when getting their child ready for college. Sul Ross made the whole experience a good one!
The openness of students to new students and the warmth from the school pride felt throughout campus. These aspects give the school a home like feel which makes the college experience easier to transform to.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I came from a small town not too much larger than this, and in truth I find Alpine much more interesting than that of my hometown. I wish however that more of the people that I went to school with in high school would be aware that this place actually exists, for I feel lonely in regards to where I come from and why I am here. There are people that are attending here that are from areas that surrounded my home, which makes me feel more connected but I lack my hometown comradery
