United States Air Force Academy

I loved attending this school. The dichotomy between crawling through the mud to excelling in class made it exciting. From the diverse clubs to the physical and mental closeness built through military challenges, I cherish my experience here deeply.

The U.S. Air Force Academy is not for the faint of heart. Success requires motivation, discipline, and a solid work ethic. The most difficult part is balancing your academics with the demanding extracurricular military activities. Being involved in clubs and intramural sports is encouraged. The school comes together for every football game, rain, snow or shine, and has long tailgates, although likely limited alcohol consumption. As you reach the upper classes and become of age, HAPs is the place to go on Thursday nights. You can find people looking for a good time during no homework Thursdays. If you are interested in the military, a challenging and unique college experience, and becoming a pilot, highly recommend this path.

If you are the sort of individual who is highly motivated, determined, collaborative, and puts integrity first in their life, this is the school for you. In my 4 years here, I was challenged physically, emotionally, and mentally beyond anything I could imagine. My character was continuously tested. I had to possess stellar time management and prioritization skills to balance academics, athletics, and extracurricular requirements. I grew faster and further as a person than at any other point in my life. The United States Air Force Academy was the most difficult chapter of my life, but well worth it!

It's a great school, however strenuous and taxing on the mind and body. The academics are very tough but the class size is small and the teachers are available from 6am to 10pm. The athletics are great and the athletic facilities are nice, I recommend joining a club because it can be easy to become cynical if you stay in your room all day, do something to get out and about here, make friends.

If you want to be successful and are willing to put in the work for it, the Air Force Academy could be a good place for you. Academics will be challenging, as well as adapting to the harsh military life of a "doolie" (first year), but the opportunities while you are attending school at the Academy and post graduation are unparalleled. Would highly recommend applying.

As an institution, the Air Force Academy presents some of the most worthwhile educational and career opportunities in the United States, despite minor flaws in the system. Very small classes coupled with dedicated, readily available instructors creates a learning environment unparalleled by other colleges and universities. Access to Air Force resources, funding, and research also provides for unique experiences in many different fields. Following graduation, the Air Force guarantees a career and even offers chances to become doctors, lawyers, engineers, and pilots. Some aspects of institutional leadership get involved in the politics of power and worry about public image to a degree that inhibits the Air Force Academy's mission, to a certain extent. However, these small flaws are overshadowed by the powerful experiences and opportunities that are available here.

Great school but bad food and some bad culture. Would highly recommend everyone to look at this school and give it a chance, because the opportunities after graduating are well above anything you could ever imagine. There’s even a small amount of money given to students every month.

The Air Force Academy is a balance of academics, athletics and military training. Because of this, it's at times difficult to focus on academics . There are great opportunities to study abroad, attend flying training and hone leadership skills . Students have a guaranteed job as a commissioned officer upon graduating and are very fulfilled after the hard work put into their four year academy experience despite forfeiting the typical college scene.

The Air Force Academy is an extremely challenging environment with immeasurable demands and rigors. Students are expected to meet high standards in academics, fitness, and military performance. There are engineering and science-based core classes that are required to graduate, as well as a mandatory water survival course, swim course, other PE classes, intramurals, and four fitness tests a year. Each student/cadet has a military job and additional responsibilities to complete outside of fitness and academics. Overall the academy demands a lot out of its cadets but to graduate is an honor.
