University of Arizona Top Questions

The fact that the winter and summer session courses come out about 3 to 6 weeks before the sessions even start. This can be frustrating because we are unable to plan ahead enough for Spring Session for example. The Spring Session courses come out before the winter session does.

Lack of activities in the surrounding area for students without cars...most malls and restaurants are not within walking distance

Like with every school or college they have their downsides. The Univeristy of Arizona is a great school; however, a big downfall for myself is the size of the campus. Its a very big campus and that sometimes makes it difficult to get to class on time especially if classes are not close to each other.

The University of Arizona is a very dynamic school with many goals in mind. They do their best to keep students involved and working at their interests. Still, the school is very large, and can be overwhelming for some students. Rather than specialize, the University of Arizona excels in many areas. I believe with the multitude of choices that the school has to offer, that the most frustrating thing at the university would be a figuring out what they want to do in life. The school offers many opportunities to find out, yet the task can still be difficult.

There's no real directionality in the registration process or even while physically on school grounds. I was charger with out-of-state tuiton, found it very difficult to apply to the College of Fine Art (and get a timely response), and was frequently lost on campus (the campus maps are not detailed enough). First day of school I fell over a curb looking at a map and was hit by a biker. More detailed maps along with an easier registration process would be much appreciated.

The most frustrating thing about my school is the administrative departments. Due to the large size of the school, it takes a very long time to get anything done (such as transcripts, administrative drops, getting financial aid problems resolved). However, I'm sure this can be experienced at most any university.

The professors associated with this campus could possibly dedicate more interaction with their students. This is usually a problem in general education courses upon coming to the university. Classes are large and therefore, it is difficult for one professor to engage with their students. To improve this problem, graduate students teach some of the classes. This should not be permitted because many students become confused over the course material. The education is not equal if one student gets a better qualified graduate student then another. Graduate students should be able to “help” but not “control” the classroom methods and procedures.

Tuition increases annually.

The most frustrating thing about the University of Arizona is being placed in temporary housing if there is not enough available on campus housing for incoming freshmen.

The most frustrating thing about the U of A is the location. Tucson has so much traffic and the roads are terrible to drive on. The only nice part about Tucson is the campus itself which is very clean and pretty. Outside of the campus is dirty and not fun to be in.
