University of Arizona Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about University of Arizona?

Natalie

It is hard to find people I can associate with. I do not drink or party and I do not have any money. So that leaves minimal social opportunities for me. I am not able to really go out and meet people because I do not party. This made my first year here hard, and it still does considering I only have a select group of friends that are like me.

The price of text books and other supplies is usually extremely expensive. The teachers often require the newest editions of books, eliminating the opportunity to buy used books at a cheaper price. Fortunately there are other options available than just the book store, and the school advertises these opportunities as well!

Xavier

The limit importance it places on the arts; most of its focus, and consequently financial aid, goes to science fields.

The most frustrating thing about my school is the quickly rising tuition costs. The state economy is bad and I understand that but the school keeps claiming tution is being raised so they can provide all these new sevices that never appear. Class size is increasing and it's difficult to stay ahead.

Parking at the U of A is extremely expensive and at times hard to find. This clearly provides an advantage to students who live in on campus housing even though off campus housing may be more economical. The best solution is to walk or bike if you live off campus.

Nicole

The most frustrating thing about my university is that I do not feel as if I am being challenged intellectually or even encouraged to challenge myself in such a way at the University of Arizona, and this lack of motivation is reflected in the attitudes of the other students. While the University of Arizona does offer most anyone the chance to receive a higher education, this is a gift and curse, as exceptional students are oftentimes held back as they are underestimated and not encouraged to each their full potential.

Lauren

The most frustrating thing about the University of Arizona, in my opinion, is the food options provided on campus. Not many healthy options are available on or near campus. My major is nutritional science, and I value being healthy. It is very hard to find food near campus that allows me to maintain the healthy lifestyle I enjoy. My biggest suggestion would be to shop at a food store for snacks to bring to class in order to avoid buying unhealthy food on campus.

I believe that the most frustrating thing about my school is learning to understand what is expected of me as a student in a large class size, and trying to develop a relationship with my professor. Every professor is different with their class requirements, but not understanding their requests and/or how they perceive my work and writing style for grading purposes, is frustrating. I thought that it would be more opened communication between the student and professor, than referring to online results. Trying to figure the writing style and acceptance for a better grade has been frustrating.

The most frustrating thing about my school is navigating the bureaucracy. It is quite difficult to talk to anyone in the administration. I find I have a lot of questions about adding classes, how to do well in the classes I am in, how to find a work study job, and so on. It is difficult to find the right people, who have the right information, who can schedule a time when I am not in class to talk to me.

The most frustrating thing about UA is probably the mealplans and school cafeteria. The cafeteria is rather small for a school with so many people attanding and the same restraunts can get old pretty fast, not to mention the pricing of the food is rather high. The mealplans can be a scam too because the money doesn't rollover to the next semester if you don't use all of the money.
