I’m glad I attend University of Central Florida. It’s a great school, the quality of education is better than most universities, and it looks good on my resume.

My college experience has been like no other. I spent my first two and a half years at a community college and im spending the remainder of my two years at a well known university. While still maintaining above a 3.0 gpa i still can balance going to work, hanging with friends, and enjoying my life. My college experience has taught me to enjoy life and always work hard to achieve my goals. The college where i attend is very valuable to me , its filled with a multicultural environment mixed in with different personalities , it brightens up your horizon to see how different cultures comes together for the same educational cause. Everyone on the staff is very open hearted and caring, they make sure you succeed to your absolute greatness and i cant ask for more.

As the first member in my family to go to college, this college experience has meant the most to me. I'm doing this for my family and myself, but mostly for my family. They believe in me so much, and I do not want to let them down. My mom works seven days a week, just so that she can help pay for my college. She never had the opportunity to go to college, and always wanted more for me. I know when I grow up and have a family I will make sure my children have the same opportunity that I've had. College experience is now a job requirement in most fields, and I want to make sure my children never have doors closed on their dreams just because they were not able to attend college.

I have gotten a lot out of my college experience. I have taken this opportunity in school to be as involved as I possibly could. For two years I was a director for the Campus Activies Board. CAB is the largest agency at UCF putting on events for the over 53,000 students that attend school. During this time I have learned very valuable leadership skills that will be helpful in my future career. I have learned how to work in teams and I have made many contacts through this phase in my life. All of which will give me an advantage over my peers in the field. While my extracurricular activites are important to my college experience, my acedemics are just as important. As an Event Management major I am being taught the event industry by some of the best in the world. Most of my professors have worked as Vice Presidents at Disney or are one of three people in the world able to teach event technology. Having the opportunity to be taught by these individuals is worth going to UCF and has made my college experience extremely valuable.

The teachers area amazing and I am getting my degree in Elementary Education I have learned alot and have been doing great in school. Education is really important to me and I do value my class time and the teachers time for learning. I have been involved at the school with a scuba diving club, camous crusades christian club and inermural volleyball team.

I have made amazing connections at the University of Central Florida, secifically among the professors. With all of the research going on, I have been able to latch on to an Infectious Diseases lab and take part in groud breaking research. UCF was not my first or top choice school at all and I did not think that anything positive could come from it, but after being here for so long, and having the opportunity to see, feel and experience the campus, I realize how much of a blessing it was. I have gained wonderful aquaintances and I am getting stronger and stronger in my major field of study as a result of my connections and work. It has been extremely valuable to become a student here at UCF because now my dreams are more clearly set out before me and UCF has helped me create a realistic way for me to achieve them. I do not think I could have made these discoveries and accomplishments without UCF and the staff with whom I work.

Out of my college experience, I have accumlated much more knowledge about the subjects i had taken in my incoming fall semester, than i have ever had. American history is much more interesting to me, which has developed more of a patriotic outlook for America and more republican views. My composition class increased my ability to develop an argument and has dratistically changed my view on writing, such as intertext which is based on empiricism which can prove its existance. Also, I have been apart of the UCF Knights football program by attending games and supporting our team, and in my first year at the school, our team won the liberty bowl. I have also been apart of the knightmare at our basketball games. By attemding UCF, i have been able to become more educated while having fun and becoming part of a new community.

The two most important things I got out of my college experience were life long friendships, and a great education. It has been valuable to attend a University because it allowed me to network with numerous people, who taught me many different things. It has also been valuable to attend a University because it put me in a hands on environment for my education. I have had the opportunity to develop teamwork skills, work with deadlines, and much more.

I have learned a lot about life by attending college. I've learned how to live more independently since I don't live with my parents. It's helped me grow up a lot since I have to get my own food, make my own food, clean up after myself, do my own laundry and pay for my expenses on my own. It's been hard over the past few years, but I know that this college experience is helping me grow and build character. I've learned a lot about dedication and motivation for success in my life. If you don't dedicate yourself to your studies, you will fail. UCF has made me want to succeed and do well in my future. Since attending UCF I have finally decided what I want to do for a living and I can't wait to finish my classes and be a Speech Language Pathologist.

It's valuable to attend college because it set you out to get ready for the real world. I've learned how to be independent and not rely on my parents. I've learned how to live on my own and learn the essential needs for future places I live. I've learned how to met deadlines because of assignments, and to be puntual for class. College isn't just about education, it's fulfilling in the aspect of growing as a person as well.

While I've certainly retained various experiences and knowledge from attending college, the one most significant is change. It might be cliché to say that everything changes, but when jumping from high school to college is a change that you can actually see and look back at. Not only are there new experiences to be had, but the individual themselves have to cast off the remnants of childhood. One example is the question that every teacher and adult posses to a child. "What do you want to do when you grow up?" As a child and even as a teen I never truly had answer until now. After seeing my field of psychology and discussing graduate school with my professors my dreams have changed and with their changing so have I little by little. I guess in all my rambling I'm trying to say that realizing that I'm now becoming who I want to be is the greatest gift I've received from my college experience.

From my college experience I have gained a higher embarrassment threshold. College is not like high school, where opportunities were as accessible as the sign-up sheet on the door; it is a dog-eat-dog world. I have learned that if I want an internship at Lockheed Martin or to be the president of the Society of Women Engineers, or graduate at the top of the Honors College, I must step out of my comfort zone and fight for my future. Because of this, I have grown to be more willing to stand up and stumble through a broken-Spanish monologue in Spanish class, and visit my professor's office hours to inquire about the 8 points I missed on the test. College has given me the ability to email employers to inquire about internships, and even when I am rejected, to continually, and without shame, ask them to provide me with resources and advice to make myself qualified. "Preparing for the real world" requires actually living in the real world, even as a test-run. College has allowed me to live in the real world, and understand that success does not come without putting yourself out there.

When I first started attending the University of Central Florida, I never guessed how much I would truly be affected by the experience. My first few days were miserable, and I missed my family and friends from Tampa. However, shortly after, I began truly taking advantage of what this college had to offer. My classes were interesting, and there were so many people around that I could identify with. I made many friends in my major and even some studying other things. I learned how to be independent and live without my mom and dad and be totally self-sufficient. I even joined several interest clubs and met some really great people. This has been a valuable experience because I can now wake up everyday and know I am receiving a quality education and that there are always resources around to help me with whatever I need. Although I intitally had my doubts about moving away from home and starting over at a new school, I would not trade my college experience for anything in the world, and I hope these next few years continue to be the greatest years of my life.

Alexis

My college experience so far, I learned to do things for myself. College is no comparison to high school. Your parents aren't there to wake you up and make sure you actually go to class. There has been times when I decided not to go to class, just because I didnt feel like it. You actually have that much freedom. Everything you do from here on out, is your decision and you will deal with the consequences. I learned to take things into my own hands, such as my grades, money, friends: life. The word "NO" became my best friend , as well. There are millions of distractions, including friends, events, and social networks, but you have to stay focus. College cost thousands of dollars and most people are on scholarships to attend college, so you can't afford to let your grades drop. Despite the headaches of college, I have bettered myself and met so many wonderful people. People from Haiti, Jamacia, Africa, England, and all over the United States. I love every aspect of college, negative and positive, because I know when I graduate that I have achieved my dream and everything I went through was worth it.

I moved up to Seattle, Washington to attend college right out of High School as a Psychology Major. Enjoying the sights of the city but not the school I soon returned to my hometown of Reno, Nevada. At this time I had decided that college was not right for me, and began to work full time in the restaurant industry. A few years ago I decided that it was time to attend college again. However, this time I stayed in Reno and have been attending the local community college and university. Currently I am an Education major and can't wait to be a teacher, enhancing and changing the lives of young minds. In attending college I know how valuble a higher education is and that it helps to shape and better your life in many ways. I have also learned that school needs to be my choice and that it can't be something that I "should" do with my life. College is a unique experience because it is done differnetly by everyone and everyone gets something different out of it.

So far out of my college experience, I have learned life lessons I feel I couldn't have ever learned if I had decided to attend a different Florida school and especially if I had attended a community school. Moving out of the house, I have been forced to think and act like an adult both inside and outside of school; I've learned to really be able to tell who are my life-long true friends, how to cook, how to be thrifty buying groceries and other materials for myself, juggle not just one job but two, etc. Although I'm seven hours away from home, I've become unimaginably closer to my family. It's only through moving out that I've been able to grasp the amount of effort they have put forth for me growing up and now as they help me financially and emotionally through the life-changing college years.

The most valuable experience that I have had at UCF is a small writing assignment that we were given in one of my socioeconomic courses. The assignment was simple but so meaningful. We were told to write a professional letter to a political figure of our choice addressing an issue that affects the health of our community. After writing the surgeon general a letter depicting a health concern in my local community I realized that there is a definitive path to voicing my concerns on not only a local level but also a national level. I would never have thought to simply type up a letter and mail it to my congress person, senator, or even the white house. The most valuable experience I have had is being pushed to express my concerns and make a difference.

Tyrone

My college experience has shown me how to become more open to different nationalities, how to have better time management and forces you to plan for the future not the present. Growing up from a small town not seeing other races besides black and white has taught me that there plenty of different beliefs and values instilled within each race. Coming to college seeing people speak different languages, having different clothing and accents was an eye opener. I believe this encounter teaches you to become more diverse among all different sizes, ages, and races. When attending college your time management skills will become an expertise. College educates you on how to manage your personal life and continue to attend college and be proficient in the two. I believe college provides several programs and different resources to educate you on how important your future is to you and your family. People come in with a plan but with the different programs and opportunities presented many people end up switching several times but with the resources on campus it still forces you to plan for your future success not just the present.

So far, I have learned how important it is to be able to market yourself for the future. Everything I worked for up until college was solely about getting into college. From here on out, everything I do will affect what kind of law school I will get into, what law firm I will practice at, if I will ever be able to own my own practice, and so much more. Being able to present yourself as a mature and professional adult really makes a first impression go a long way. Networking is also leading up to be a big contribution to my future. I have learned that a lot about where you will get is based on who you know and what you're willing to do for them.
