What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Monica

How expensive the living cost would be. The apartments and on-campus living arrangements are expensive for people trying to work through college. It has been a huge burden and has almost kept me from being able to pursue my education at the university.

Stephanie

I wish I had known that college isn't anything like high school and that you actually do have to study and work hard. High school babies you so much and doesn't prepare you enough for college. When you get to college, it gets overwhelming because sometimes you're not well prepared at what is going to be handed to you and what you have to deal with. You really have to grow up a lot in college and prepare yourself for the real world.

I wish I had known more about the bus systems; the bus does not take me all the way to the nearest mall, instead I have to walk part of the way. I also wish I had known more about the fitness classes at the gym so I could have taken better advantage of them.

Dominique

I wish I knew how much money the school really cost before I attended. I was under the impression school would be just tuition and books. I never knew books were so costly! I wish I knew that living on-campus meant paying a rediculous amount of money just for the bare necessities. Then you also need to pay for a mean plan because although you have a dorm, you don't have the resources to cook for yourself. I wish I knew the true cost of college, the cost including the hidden fees.

Daniel

Money brings happiness indirectly by buying the opportunities which lead to happiness.

Richard

I wish I had known I would be transfering in the Spring of 2010. Originally, I was planning to transfer to UCF in the fall of 2010. However, once I determined I was able to apply for graduation and recieve my AA degree ahead of schedule, I made the decision to graduate and begin my career at UCF. As a result, I found myself racing against the clock to apply, register, attend orientation, and scramble to find financial aid. Seminole State was paid for, however, my tuition at UCF is not covered entirely.

Angelica

I wish I would have known of all the different helpful people and advisor that the school has so that I could have asked a lot more questions instead of guessing and trying to solve everything by myself.

Sana

The one thing I wish I knew, was the requirement for an upper level foreign language, so I could've taken it before in the community college. The only reason I say that, is because it would've cost less over there and having more money for school would definitely be helpful.

Erica

Meal Plans are a waste of money. Living off campus is way cheaper. Scholarships are very important and helpful so apply apply apply! I wish I would have saved more money while in high school.

Lauren

Get all paperwork for registration and financial aid completed early.

Living by the school my whole life and my dad being an alumni of UCF, I've pretty much known everything about it. I just wish I knew more about how quickly the classes fill up. You literally have to apply for classes halfway through the semester before or it is really hard to find availability for the classes you wish to take at your convenience that will work with your work schedule.

Emily

I wish I would have found out earlier that I was accepted; my application got lost in UCF's files.
