University of Louisville Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of Louisville? Why?

Alyssa

The Spirit Programs here (ie. Cheerleading, Ladybird dance team) do not get very much money for scholarships which makes it hard to pay for school.

I have only started here at University of Louisville so I can?t say much about the school. From what I have experienced so fare I am disappointed in the financial aid process where the School detaches itself from its student by panning them off to a website to solve the questions about needing help finding scholarships to help pay for tuition. My previous school didn?t do this and was more the ready to help you find a way to pay for school even if it meant staying after hours. I am hoping my first impression is wrong.

Crime rates on and around campus, mostly because of the area of the city it is in. Everyone has to be careful walking around near campus, mainly at night.

They don't take into consideration the need for students to hold outside jobs. Students are required to be interns and student teacher's which do not pay. This causes extremem problems with money. They also ask for more and more money for a meal plan every year even when you live off campus. Its hard to save up money to go to school and still save the money for rent and food.

Kristin

Parking! There's not enough spaces. And, the cost of parking. The shuttle system is not very timely if you don't want ot park on campus. It's a hassle.

I really don't like how there is an emphasis on being greek even though greek doesn't make up half of our school. Most people assume you are or aren't based on your looks and the stereotypical "greek".

Madeline

In regards to its atmosphere, the worst thing about the University of Louisville is the disproportionate ratio of working/off-campus student to on-campus, resident students. In my personal experience, many of the students I speak with outside of class are working part- or full-time jobs while going to school in order to pay for their housing and other bills, as I am. With so much of our lives existing outside the academic sphere, I find it is very hard to make friends.

The lack of action by the administration on hot-button issues. There are several issues that are well-known and extremely challenging issues for students, and the administration is aware of them. However, the administration is extremely hesitant to act upon any solutions to the problems caused by these issues.

The lack of things to do, because all there is to do is go to football games and to bars/clubs on Friday/Saturday nights, thats about it. I'm not too fond of the food prices and all the campus crime either (seems to be at least one robbery per week).

They don't care about the students and their education. They're more a business than a school. They just get you in to get your money, and want as much of it as they can. Not caring for the quality of education you are getting, quality of life while enrolled, and much less your own financial burden. They just mandated a meal plan that is $250 more than tuition for full-time students, even if you don't live on campus. I don't live on campus, and I work full-time. No time/need to eat on campus.
