University of New Haven

The University of New Haven seems like a great place for hands-on learning and career focused programs. It’s known for strong programs in engineering, business, and forensic science, plus good industry connections. The campus has a close knit feel, and students get real world experience early on. It might not be the biggest name out there, but for the right student, it offers solid opportunities and a supportive community.

I enjoy it. I've found people with similar interests who I get along with and can form community with. There are lots of clubs to join for a variety of interests, hobbies, and identities. Most professors are helpful and there's a lot to learn. The professors also prioritize engagement from students so everyone stays engaged and can have intellectual discussions about the course material.

I wanted to go on a tour on the University of New Haven because it was close to home and I liked that they had a marching band. I had known people that went there for music so I thought it might be a good fit. When I visited, I got to sit in on a class and I found the professor very nice and helpful. The class was very interesting to me and I loved the small class sizes. A smaller class size made I feel comfortable to ask questions during the lecture. The downsides were that the dorms were not that nice and the buildings were pretty dirty, but they seemed to have a pretty good student life.

I think the college is amazing but they are very pricey.Its expensive to live on campus.

The University of New Haven can be expensive at times, but it is worth every penny. The campus size is not too big where it's overwhelming. The professors and staff are super nice, motivational and encouraging. There are plenty of varieties of food like Mexican, American, Indian, food trucks, etc. They are strong advocates for diversity, equality, equity, religion, education, and mental health.

Out of all the schools I applied for this school made me feel like it was the right choice. The professors are great depending on your major, there's sometimes communication problems when it comes to housing and financial aid but everyone gets back to you quickly. Overall, it's a good safety school.

The University of New Haven has given me many opportunities for my future that I don't believe I would have gained anywhere else. The professors, campus life, small class sizes, and opportunities the campus offers have made my college experience more than I could ask for and I couldn't be more grateful with my decision to attend.

The University of New Haven provides students with a myriad of opportunities to excel in the classroom. Despite this, campus life is incredibly lacking. For one, the food on campus is average at best. Yet, students are expected to pay high prices to eat there. The provider of the food is Sodexo, a company that also provides food to prisons. Likewise, first-year housing is questionable. The dorm I stayed in did not have air conditioning and I got sick due to the immense heat. Similarly, there are various reports that claim that different dorms have black mold. Moving forward, the professors that I have experienced so far are amazing. I have also made good friends and plan to live with them in a dorm that has AC next semester. Clearly, it is a toss-up depending on what you are looking for. If the University of New Haven provided better facilities or lowered its price, I would definitely give it a better rating.

I attended the school part time, I have taken Intro to Criminal Justice, which had an amazing professor. I also took Intro to Economics which was OK, but the professor was not as engaging as the other class. The student body is helpful and the campus is beautiful. The surrounding area has been partially re-developed but the majority of the area is not great. Venturing further into New Haven it gets worse, moving into West Haven or Orange it gets better. Too far to walk to get to Downtown new haven, but the schools offers a shuttle or you could catch the public bus. It is adjacent to both Notre Dame West Haven and ESUMS a NHPS but located in West Haven. Since these are both High Schools the immediate area around this school zone is safe during the day, but I wouldn't do a "bar crawl" late at night without a large group.

I chose to attend the University of New Haven to get hands-on experience in my field of Communication right away, and in that way, this university is great. There are plenty of opportunities for me to gain experience in and out of the classroom. Most of my professors are accessible and go out of their way to help me succeed, too. In general, most of the people I meet at this campus are friendly. However, there are some downfalls. For example, the food is really bad, and there aren't many meal options. Additionally, sometimes I think student feedback isn't valued at this university. For example, last semester, I had one terrible professor, and the entire class gave him extremely low ratings and commented on how badly he performed as a professor. However, as far as I know, he is still teaching and nothing has been done despite the fact that every single person in the class hated the way he taught and treated us.

I went into this School looking at their film program which is great and my opinion on the professors and the courses haven't changed however, the administration and the people running the school are god awful. The cost of this school was ridiculous to begin with and when covid hit and most classes went online, the tuition went up more. In addition I had gotten covid while i was here, not because i went out and partied with a bunch of student but because my roommate was an athlete and covid had spread through the athletes gym after the school had already known it was on campus and didn't shut down their facilities. They sent me to a hotel which was a nice hotel however, they brought me food that was much much worse then hospital food to the point that it was barely edible. I received my breakfast lunch and dinner in the morning and by the time dinner came whatever hot food I got was ice cold, besides it being bad to begin with. I ended up ordering McDonalds almost every night because I just couldn't put down the food they gave me. I received one check up call while I was in there so for all they knew I could've been dead in there. In addition over my 2 year span at the school I developed a crippling drug problem in which when they caught me with it, they instead of trying to find the root of the problem or even making a real attempt to help me, they fined me 300$ and sent me to 2 1 hour classes about why drugs are bad, of which I already knew why. I became lazy and addicted to multiple substances. Now I should have never started in the first place but with courses on top of the way i was being treated here it was at the time the only escape from this hellhole they call a University. If you want to come out of College extremely depressed, in extreme debt, and with a bad drug problem, come to the University of New Haven. If not, stay as far away from here as you can.

I am content with UNH being the place I decided to attend college for the next four years of my life. Although there are many aspects that are great such as the class size, teachers being available almost anytime you need them, and nearby shops and services along the Boston Post, there are also negatives such as limited food times/selections, lacking Res life staff, and people to give clear answers. Otherwise, I like being there and have no complaints.

When I started freshman year It was my first time being away from my family and living in a different state, first time living in a new county even. A week into my classes I was at home. The welcome week was amazing, the professors are all hilarious, super experienced, and crazy intelligent. I have respect for everyone I've studied under so far. The campus is nothing beautiful, but cozy with clear historical character. The dorms are comfortable and moderately situated, with common rooms, lounges, and plenty of outdoor seating and hangout spots. Not to mention the modern technology utilized in classrooms and labs. U. New Haven is my home and I'm so glad I chose it for my degree.

Each day I attended the University of New Haven, I often thought of what it would be like if I was accepted into my top choice school. I often felt forgotten. This is only reiterated by the fact that my major is not even listed in the drop-down menu on the Unigo application page. I chose this school for its mentors. While other institutions bragged about their merits at their open houses, on the Prospective Students Day at the University of New Haven, my future professor taught us his lesson plan. I got a chance to practice my craft in that space and it immediately felt like home. I benefitted greatly from my education, but as an Arts student, you are often placed second to other majors. This leads to less funding, fewer opportunities, and inevitably a dwindling department. I truly did enjoy my time at this University. I met wonderful people and took the first step in creating an amazing career. I simply wish my school loved me as much as I loved it.

The University of New Haven does not challenge me enough academically and I do not feel happy here. I highly dislike the meal plan and can never fall asleep at night because of the noise. Last semester I had many issues with my roommate and it contributed to my negative experience. I am trying to have a positive outlook but it is very difficult with everything that has happened.
