pretty decent school overall. definitely recommend to anybody who is looking for a cheap education but still wants quality, and to be close to oceans, and family. If attending Pembroke, you have access to plenty of on and off-campus housing, and food services along with many other things

I really like it there. I was scared to attend collge, but UNCp made me feel welcomed right away. Even with covid, they did everything they could to make the move as easy as possible. Teacher's are always there for you. Grades seem to be fair so far. I like the overall feel on campus. I'm proud to tell others I go to UNCP.

I enjoy the North Carolina University of Pembroke. This is my first semester at this school. So far this school is pretty no-nonsense, but I’m also starting to experience some flexibility, which has been a bit of a godsend if I am being honest. I have a full course load, completely online. I enrolled late and didn’t have a lot of time to pick classes, so I just kind of rolled with whatever was available at the time. At first, it was a really hard learning curb trying to figure out the methods and where the information I needed was, but I found the right people to talk to and I figured everything out. The professors and the other students have been really fair and understanding to me. I don’t feel like the best student, but I don’t feel like the worst. I can honestly say that I’m going above and beyond for myself, and I don’t feel like I’m being left behind. The classes are not simple. It’s real college classes with real challenges. I’m starting to enjoy online learning and the University of North Carolina Pembroke is the first school that ever made me feel like I could enjoy online learning. Once you get used to it, the Canvas platform becomes intuitive. It’s really just a matter of being pragmatic and finding the answers. Once you are in, you have the key. If one is able to develop a good method and mindset at the University of North Carolina Pembroke, then they most definitely have the ability to succeed.

Well I know it is a good school because my little cousin goes there she is currently a sophomore pursuing a nursing degree and then I am taking my classes online but at the moment my classes have not started but as far as getting the necessary assistance that I need I say it is good my advisors have helped me to pick the right classes that I need to start my semester an I am just trying to adjust to taking online classess

I do not regret going to UNCP. I received a quality education for thousands less than many other schools. My only complaint is the city of Pembroke itself. UNCP is a large campus placed in a tiny town. I majored in music, and I can honestly say that some of the music faculty belong at Julliard! I have never met music instructors that are on the caliber of some of the UNCP music faculty.

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is a wonderful campus. It is the perfect size, not too big or small, the teacher-student ratio is very small. This allows the professors to actually get to know the students. Here you are a student, a person, and not just a number. The campus is located on a beautiful piece of land in a very small town. It is a place where everyone is welcome.
I highly recommend the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Its a great school and you get one-one with the professors.

At first, I was a little concerned with coming here but then I got here, but now I am really enjoying my time here. It is a really good campus with a family atmosphere. The professors are nice and willing to help you whenever you need it, and they are also very willing to work with you.
Kayleigh - 11/06/2019
I have enjoyed my time at the college. They really want their students engaged all around. Rather its classes or in extracurricular activities , like clubs, and seminars; every thing for someone is offered according to their interests. They also offer great scholarship opportunities.
Sanea - 10/14/2019
I love it. I want to attend UNCP so bad!! They’re so sweet and nice . Their professors actually care about them. Everything is kind of close together. It’s just a great environment, it’s a really good college. Their housing is really nice.. if I’m able to attend there and hopefully I get accepted I will definitely participate in majorette dancing for the bad or cheerleading.

Pembroke is a simplistic place to attend school as well as very affordable. They are getting better at having special events for students to get to know each other. Even though most of the stores and things are in walking distance you probably still want to have a car to visit Wal-Mart. It is also like less than two hours away from the beach. Which is really cool.

Attending the University of North Carolina at Pembroke was the best four year experience I could have ever had. The school environment was like home away from home. It was not a party school, even though we partied, but it was definitely more of a chill environment. I loved it because I met my four bestfriends there and because of the school's environment, it encouraged me to participate in on and off campus events that I did not do in high school.
DIANA - 07/24/2019
UNC- Pembroke is a great school to be in, its all in how you make of it. Depending if you are into big schools than perhaps this school is not for you, because you would rather have more stores to shop near by. However, the smaller the school is, the more faculty workers seem to work better with you one on one, it would seem more "homie."
Caden - 07/08/2019
I did the campus tour because I was thinking about attending and I like the atmosphere of the place it tucked away and they have small classes . I will attending in the fall. I also like that I’m going to in a program to help me connected with teacher called the w.i.n program.
Markalya - 06/27/2019
I have just started classes but at this time I am pleased with the school. The class sizes are some and everyone inclusive of the professors are personable and approachable. The food options are good and meets the needs of the students. then campus us small and there are always campus police around.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of North Carolina at Pembroke is 73%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
JoAnna,
I know you may be wondering who I am or how do I even know you. The past four years may seem to have been rough. You've lost a few friends and family members and at times it seems as if you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Financially it seems as if you don't have many options after this but trust me you do. Hold off on trying to grow up too fast. You will experience heartbreak, tears, and disappointment, but believe me when I say this LIFE GOES ON. Don't stress about juggling work and school. Focus on your studies and the rest will fall into place. Join a sorority, make new friends, have new experiences, travel, and just enjoy life. Trust me you'll live with a lot of regret and "should've, could've, would've" thoughts if you dont! Major in what YOU want to major in, not what fits your work schedule. You deserve the upmost happiness ten years from now, but the choices you make today determine the person you become. Lastly, live your life the way you want to!
Sincerely,
Your Future Self
Most of my classmates are people that I see on a regular basis. UNC Pembroke is a small community which makes it comfortable for me to interact with other people. My classmates are people that I hang out with on weekends and study with on the weekends. Pembroke is such a friendly community so everyone around me is very supportive and helpful.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
UNCP is a school great for teaching educations, but it is also has great programs for nursing and science majors and it allows students a variety of classes and the best teachers to choose from.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The thing that is so unique about UNCPb compared to the other schools I applied to is that it is much smaller allowing for smaller class sizes and less people to have to beat out for limited spaces.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The thing that I consider as the worst thing about UNC Pembroke would be its location. I would liek to do many things in the community as far as service and internships but it is a little difficult considering that Lumberton is about 12 miles away and I am not driving this year. But aside from that, UNC Pembroke does do a great job of providing the essentials for its students. Most of the things we needs as far as resturaunts, supply stores, help, and aid are right here on campus.
In the music department there is a great sense of family, which is inclusive of quarells and issues that must be worked through, but we always get through them. The instructors at Pembroke do their best to make new studens feel comfortable and are overall an incredible bunch who really know their stuff. Even though I've only been at Pembroke one semester, I've already noticed growth from the instruction I've recieved and look foreward to what is to come.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I believe my school can be made for anyone willing to make the next step in their life to pursue their dreams and goals. Pembroke has such a vast majority of different people and is a flourishing and promising school in my area. People who come here are serious about their future, and know that they are getting top of the line education at a fairly decent cost compared to most schools. So if you're willing to take the next big step in your life, UNCP is for you, if not then no you wouldn't make it.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
One of the most frustrating things I have begun to notice around the campus of UNCP is the violence. As a student who resided off campus,
I have begun to see an increase in burglaries in and around the apartments. Over Christmas break, my roommate was a victim of the violence as she returned to find her window broken and her play station missing from her room. While hoping that increased security around the apartments would decrease the violence, this attempt failed as my neighbor was followed into her apartment and robbed at gunpoint.
Academics at UNCP are challenging but rewarding. You are able to have that one on one attention that you need from professors if you are struggling but you also can get extra attention from supplementary instructors as well as tutoring.
Innovation/Entrepreneurship was one of the best classes I have ever taken! I loved my professor! He was so down to Earth and so relatable to his students :)
UNCP is a great school with awesome professors. It is a school where you feel like you are at home because of the smaller campus size. UNCP is the affordable school.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Because our campus is small the stereotype of us students is that we know everyone on campus however, that is a misconception. I meet new people everyday
