Advice that I would give to parents and or students about finding the right college and making the most of the college experience, would be to look for the school that fits your educational or career plans and goals first and then everything else will follow. Many times students look at attending certain schools because the schools have great partys, or their friends are going there or the clubs and organization's boys are girls are really hot!! Those are the wrong reasons. A college should be picked based on more than just those things. Whats the purpose of attending a college that does not have your major or anything that you are interested in doing. Thats why when i picked the University of South Carolina Aiken to attend, i picked it for what it had to offer me and not just who it had to offer me! So in choosing a college, look for what it can offer you and things that you like about it and everything else will fall in line.
