If I could go back in time and give me senior self adivce about college, I would tell him to keep working hard. I'd tell him not to slack off as the year goes and fall into the sterotypical "Senior Slide." I would want him to keep working hard because college is a lot of hard work. By continuing to work hard in toward the end of his high school career, those good study skills and work ethic would transfer into his college life. He also would not be caught off guard by the amount of work there is and he will be prepared for it. Therefore he would become a very successful college student.

Dear High School Me, If you really want that trip to Eurpoe, take it. You'll be regreting that decision for the next four years at least! When you eventually go to college; study abroad starting during J-Term, or a semester if you can, right away and do it as much as possible. Start saving your money, you're going to need it. Try to get a job not food service related. NEVER take an 8am class, this is where those stats about college depression come from. Finally, that first boyfriend wont last, and it is okay. Stay friends.

Transitions are not easy. It will take time to get used to living away from home. But remember, there are dozens of freshmen on this campus that will be going through the same thing. Be active on campus from the beginning. You'll meet people and feel less homesick. However, do not try to compare your high school experiences with your college experiences. They are two different places with different people. If you are always comparing your college experiences to your high school experiences, it's like you never really left high school. Other people who did not go to your high school feel left out when you always talk about your former experiences. Do not wear your iPod earbuds all the time. It discourages people from talking to you and getting to know you. It also excludes you from the feel of the campus. You chose to come to this university- embrace all parts of it! You never know who you'll run into on campus or what helpful things you might overhear- like where the free shirts are being handed out. If you do ever feel alone, home is always a phone call away.

I would tell myself to make sure that I stay organized and focused on my school work. Don't wait until the last minute to complete my homework. Plan when you're going to do homework for each class. I use post it notes and planner as if my life depended on it, and they really help me keep track of everything I have to complete. While you focus on your schoolwork, make sure you leave time for a social life. Friends are very important during college; they help you get through the rough and stressful weeks and they are there to celebrate when you have a great week.

If I could go back to high school me, I would tell my self many things. For starters, I would have told myself to do more AP or PSEO classes so I could have come into college with more credits. I would also tell myself to put myself out there right away and meet people in the first couple of weeks instead of waiting a while. The most important thing I would tell myself would be not to stress out about what was to come. I would tell myself to enjoy every second of the first semester because it goes by extremly fast.

Be more open to new opportunities. Don't be so shy and go out and make new friends. I wish I would have been more outgoing and then I would have gotten to know so many more people when living in the dorms. I would tell myself not to be scared, it has been so much fun attending this University and the school makes it really easy to be so far away from home. Take risks and go on adventures and get the most out of your time here because the years go by extremely fast.

I would have told myself to become more involved in highschool so I would be used to it by the time college comes. It is very important to be very involved in college in order to stand out. I would also tell myself to not be as stressed about it because compared to other stresses that you recieve in college its not worth stressing yourself out so young.

Jessica

I would tell myself to apply for more scholarships. As a senior I did not know that a lot of scholarships were due when college applications were due too. I would have just applied to more if I would have known. I also would tell myself to go shadow someone in the major I want to go in. I should have taken the time to realize what I like to do when I had more time. Another thing I would have told myself is to keep trying in school and maintain good studying habits. This would have helped a lot the first couple weeks of school.

Nicholas

I would make sure that I started off my freshman year working hard. Its easy to slack your first semester, which in turn makes it hard to ever get that GPA that you want. Work hard and good things will come. Make as many friends as possible and talk to everyone that you can because you learn something new from diversity. Its all about having new experiences and not confroming to what everyone else does. Do what you want to do. If you don't now then you will never have the chance to in the future.

Knowing what I know now about college I would convince myself to take physics in high school because it would have been nice to know a little physics before taking physics in college. I also would tell myself to stop worrying about how to transition to college, you just get use to it all. Stop worrying about the future becauase the only thing that is constant is change and you ahve ot be ready for the changes, cliche 'roll with the punces.' I would tell myself just to believe in myself and know that I can do whatever I put my heart to.
