Washington State University Top Questions

I think that a lot of people assume that all we do is drink and party and that we aren't an actual school. I've heard people say that the only reason we're at WSU is because we didn't get into UW. I don't know if this is a stereotype or a fact, but we have the most school spirit in pride of any college I've ever visited.

Washington state it viewed as a party school where people party very frequently and in large quantities. The students are viewed as kids who are not very into their education and are here to have a good time and party.

Party school, lots of drinking, lower academics, out in the middle of no where

Everyone loves to drink. Sorority girls are just party animals. It's an easy college to get into.

That we party all the time.

The biggest stereotype that plauges our school and it's students would be that we are solely a drinking school. Now I'm not going to say that we don't drink, because of course we do, but people seem to overlook our academics and how strong of a school we are in that respect.

Party school, hicks and cowboys, drink a lot

It is a misconception that WSU students are all "hicks" or come from rural backgrounds, and are just simply not smart enough to be accepted into a bigger school such as the University of Washington. We have been referred to as a big party school in the past, and this is still a stereotype at WSU.

Washington State is known for being a party school. It really is a party school and its great if you are in to that. People look for excuses to drink. For example, its a thursday night and the Cougs played an away game against UNC in the Sweet Sixteen...we lost....we drink. Or, school gets cancelled because of weather, so you head down to the store around 11 a.m. and you will see hundreds of studetns stocking up on Busch beer, hard liquor, and Carlo Rossi. In pullman, we are all family and there isnt much to do so we look forward to popping open those beers and drinking
