I am a disabled veteran. Moved to Arizona just to attend their Gunsmithing program. I had way too much trouble getting instructors to comply with my approved accommodations. Attempts by Disability Resources director and me fell on deaf ears at least to the Dean of Students level. I filed a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education and agreed to mediation. I continued to have problems and the agreement was violated. I once informed my dean of a current ADA violation. He did absolutely nothing. I never could find out if the college even has an ADA coordinator. If they do, it is a deep, dark secret. I do not recommend this college for anyone with disabilities.

Yavapai College, a place where dreams take flight and possibilities become reality. Nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Arizona, Yavapai College offers a vibrant and enriching educational experience. As I embark on my college journey, I am captivated by the unique opportunities that Yavapai College presents. From its diverse range of programs to its supportive community, this college embodies my vision of a place, where I can grow academically, personally, and professionally.

I love it! Great faculty and fellow students, opportunities, and facets to the school abound. I enjoy the environment, it is very laid back, and easy to find like-minded people. The academics are really great, too! The curriculum is challenging but exciting, quick-paced yet bearable.

Yavapai College is the best community college I have ever seen. A welcoming campus with plenty going on and easy to utilize resources. Plenty of professors who care about their students and are willing to work with them to ensure their success. I would absolutely recommend Yavapai College to any in-state student in Arizona.

Great college with resources, but absolutely horrible degrading and condescending teachers. I waited a year for residency just to drop out due to a teacher who was very very rude. I asked my advisor for change but she stayed the same. I DO NOT recommend this college if you like to ask questions. I took robotics and asking questions about it to Liz peters was just as hard as pulling teeth, every answer she gave me made me feel stupid and sounded condescending. Thank you Liz Peters, I hope you like scaring your students away, because I’m not the only one who feels this way.

The city its nestled in, Prescott, is a lovely place overall. In terms of signs to see the woods and nearby mountains are full of hiking trails, and the nearby town of Jerome makes for an excellent weekend getaway. The location is top notch and the college tuition is low, making it very accessible. Even for students who aren't seeking a degree they offer classes in the arts and technology, alongside other courses, that I found inexpensive and enjoyable.

It a great school all around..My overall opinion of Yavapai college is that it is a great institution with excellent educational opportunities. Yavapai college is a great place to learn, new things, meet new people and have fun while learning. The campus is full of opportunities for you to explore your interests and passions.

Belinda

I like it. I'm just getting started but so far it seems like it is going to be a great learning experience. The teachers have been more than helpful and are very clear with their assignments. New canvas for your school work can be a little bit tricky at first to figure out but once you get it together it is a very useful tool for learning.

After graduating from high school, I was scared about the whole college experience. I moved from Phoenix to Chino Valley, Arizona, with my grandparents, which is about 25 minutes away from Yavapai College. After attending Yavapai for over a year, I can honestly say that I highly encourage other students to consider applying. The professors are very attentive to their students. The campus is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by trees with mountains in the background. The weather is cool during the Spring and Summertime. The clubs the school offers are exciting such as I was a part of the Native American Club and Juggling Club. Enrolling in classes was a breeze. The school website was very easy to navigate. Yavapai College offers a ton to its students and provides many opportunities.

Laura

I like being at Yavapai College and there is a wide variety of courses and course times. My instructors have made time for me and offered help when needed. The advisors help me stay on track in order to succeed. The tuition is affordable so I am able to pay as I go and not accrue alot of debt.

Yavapai is the perfect opportunity for people to further their education at any age. It offers many opportunities for learning and everyone is willing to help each other out. It has two campuses in different cities which provides a perfect balance for those seeking for a larger crowd or a smaller one.

sarah

I think it is a great place to learn and to get your aa the class sizes are on the smaller side but i find it better for getting to know all my classmates and it makes it a more fun and personal environment. Im majoring in fine arts and the campus has a very nice gallery to look at and that even some students can be in.

Ashlynn

Yavapai College is a great option for someone looking for small class sizes, helpful professors and affordable tuition. If you are planning on transferring to a university, you have to make your path all on your own however, as the advisors are not very helpful. You can easily spend too much time here than you need.

Kirsten

I take their fashion and costume design and construction classes. The professor and all the students are so welcoming, easy to talk to, and super good about explaining things that don't make sense. I can count numerous conversations that I have had in class and outside of class that are very meaningful and deep.

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Yavapai College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to work hard at everything, and make sure that i understood that i am on my own and i am responsible for what choices i make and the results i get. I would tell myself to choose good, reliable friends and never give up on anything or give in to anyone. I would tell myself to stick with it through the end even when it seems to hard because the reward will be more than a degree when i am through; it will be a gate to a life that has been earned. That's what i would tell myself.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Like I said before this is my first time going to yavapai college. Many complaints I have heard from other students and have experienced myself. They do not help as far as financial-aid goes, it's not that you won't get approved but they take either too long to review your finances, or they don't tell you about other information before it's to late to enrole. I do not have much experience in trying to get financial-aid being my first time going to college, but I thought they would be on top of that situation.

  6. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The main positive aspect that I tell my friends about Yavapai College is basically the same as the above. The smaller campus means you aren't just another body in a seat like in some larger colleges. It is easier to get help directly from the instructor, who actually knows your name.

  8. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is that it's size and the more personal and laid-back atmosphere that comes with it. Instead of a math class with 350 people that you may find at a large university, class sizes are smaller and thus allow for a more personal relationship with the instructor as well as the rest of the students in the class.

This school is not diverse enough for people who come from big cities with many different kinds of people. It will take some time to get used to the lack of diversity which would make it very hard to get along with people.

  11. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is that we do not have free access to the workout gym or pool for excersie. We have to take a class for them or we have to pay a semester fee for them. I think that the people who live in the dorms should be able to have access to these rooms for health progress. Schools around the world are trying to find ways to make there students life healthy. This for sure is one way to help students health.

  12. Describe your favorite campus traditions.

My school is probably best known for its sports teams. They have won several championships with the volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball teams. The players on those teams are hardworking and dedicated to both their academics and their sport. Most of the baseball players end up getting drafted to major university teams. This allows for a sports player to get a great education at a reasonable price and then be funneled to a university where a scholarship is available for them because of them doing so well at Yavapai College in their sport.
