I do think it's a good school for those who want a smaller student body (even though, this year they're struggling a lot with space for the really large freshmen class that came in, especially with parking), and a good Christian education. Most of the professors are very passionate about their subjects and blending faith into them. However, I will say there are definitely some things I would change if I could. For example, I would make the Caf (the cafeteria) have better food, give more opportunities to students interested in the Arts, offer more sports on campus, build more parking on campus, and upgrade Kresge (one of the dorm buildings) that didn't get a revamp like GC (the Women's dorm) did.

I think it a great school that provides students with opportunities to not only better themselves but also those around them. Asbury encourages students and staff to come together and make a difference in each other and the community around them. The curriculum is top tier, and Asbury values integrity and fellowship.

At first, i'll be honest I did not enjoy it and wanted to transfer up until the spring semester. I actually applied myself and really started to have community which is something Asbury truly values along with their student body, they put us first. It is a special place. I have thought about if I did transfer, how sad I would be that I am not at Asbury, I know it is where I belong now. The staff is amazing, I would be as bold to say we have the most caring profs out of any college... I recommend just taking a look if you are considering at all.

Where do I even begin with this review? Asbury on the outside looks like an amazing school. If you take a campus tour, you will be completely convinced and persuaded to attend. However, I advise that you take a step back and rethink other options before attending this school. There are no words to describe how bad and overpriced the on campus housing is. Glide-Crawford is falling apart. Paint is peeling off the walls, there are holes in the walls, the windows are dirty and dusty. The mattresses are very old with urine, period blood, and other mysterious stains. The community kitchen, aka the commons, has a weird smell and always dirty because the girls don't know how to clean up after themselves. The shower curtains have mold on them and there is mold in the corners of the showers. As well as, the occasional sewer bugs. You have to pay extra to live in a single dorm, and you don't even get a closet if you live in a single. The rooms are already tiny, but the single is extremely small but costs more than a double. I\'m also very disappointed that Asbury did NOTHING for the 2020 graduates during the COVID-19 pandemic. They had an online graduation, but that was it. The school did absolutely NOTHING else for these students who spent well over $120,000 for their degree and spending 4 years at this school. Smh. Even the University of Kentucky had an in person ceremony for their 2020 graduates. Also, the classroom buildings are old and falling apart. The desks are old and the classrooms feel like a high school. The professors don\'t know how to use the technology, especially if they want to use a powerpoint. Chapel is mandatory for 3x a week, which is fine. However, the songs are repetitive, and boring and the chapel speakers are a hit or miss. The only nice thing about Asbury are the professors and the financial staff, which is really sad. Don\'t get me started on the caf food. 2020-2021 food was horrible and such a waste of Styrofoam and money in general. They upped the meal plan cost, yet their lettuce was always brown, always served fries, fried chicken, burgers, and pizza. The healthy choice options sucked, and looked like someone either threw up or regurgitated the food. Overall, the school is overpriced and overrated. They only care about students who\'s parents have lots of money or have connections. You\'re honestly better off at a state school, and it\'s cheaper!

I think what makes Asbury great is it's community. The students are very close knit there and are willing to get to know one another. The classes are ALL beneficial, even the Gen Eds, and as you sit in class you feel you are learning important information from intelligent teachers. The community centers itself around a christian faith and the community reflect a spiritual attitude that is real. Asbury hopes to send its students out into to the world to help change it for the better.

I enjoy many things about Asbury including the small but extremely loving community built there. The school is small and the class sizes are no more than 30 students, my smallest class is 12 students. Our school is a christian campus, meaning we attend chapel and have worship from 10 am to 10:50 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The professors are always there for you both spiritually and educationally as well as the many groups to join outside of the classroom. They're very artistic and the friends you make are ones to keep beyond the classroom. Asbury holds small adventures that lead to wonderful memories.

I've never been so embarrassed to admit that I graduated from this institution. It preaches forgiveness and new beginnings and yet is the same old judgmental, hardened, fundamentalist school. I WOULD NEVER ALLOW MY KID TO ATTEND HERE.
Juniper
Great school that provides an atmosphere to think and challenge thoughts, and allows for self expression. Facility and community are very welcoming and involved in school and town events. This school also allows a safe environment for students to grow in their faith.

Asbury University is an excellent choice if you are looking for a Christian school rooted in the Wesleyan Holiness tradition. Because it is excellent for this group of people, it may not be the best fit for others, which is an important factor to keep in mind.
Here's some of what I experienced at Asbury university: I was introduced to many of the greatest writings from the past for my major (Hebrew, Greek, and Latin works) while also learning about cutting edge practices through my business classes for my minor. I was introduced to new people from other cultures on a weekly basis through a program at the school and, through an incredible program at the university, was able to spend eight weeks (paid!) traveling through Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo learning about the cultures and learning with and from many African leaders. I also made friends from significantly different backgrounds than my own. These excellent opportunities, along with the fact that there were at least five countries represented on my residence hall of 28 men, shows Asbury's commitment to a world-wide reach and for preparing students to engage not only their own culture and to engage with those who at first seem different from them.
Now, as an alumnus (who is attending a different school at the moment for another degree and who has worked at yet another university), I can honestly say that there is no other school with such a strong alumni base that appreciates the school NOT for its athletic programs but for what it stands for and teaches. This is a testament to the mission-driven and mission-focused nature of Asbury University. I'm a proud alumnus, and if this school seems right for you, I'm sure you will be too.

Asbury University is not your typical college. Besides being a liberal arts institution, it is also a nondenominational Christian school. The experience I have had so far at Asbury is unique. Of course, it has its pros and cons, but I have never doubted my decision in becoming an Asbury Eagle. I have had the opportunity to join many extracurricular activities, from running cross country to being on the staff of our school's magazine, and I have noticed the way our school values the arts, such as theatre or poetry, much more than our sports. We often struggle to get students to watch our basketball games, but people will spend $5 on a ticket to watch a musical production by students. However, Asbury is working towards changing that so every department gets equal recognition. Our academics are excellent, with a wide variety of interesting classes and majors to choose from. The liberal arts courses we are required to take are always full of great discussions and help you get a break in your schedule from all your major classes. My favorite part about Asbury is the community. It is so easy to find a group of people to connect with due to all the clubs and activities. Community is something Asbury highly values and it is evident to see how inclusive the environment is. There is no discrimination against race or religion. Asbury is a great school to consider if you enjoy meaningful relationships and quality courses.

I love the fact that it is a christian university and has some of the same beliefs that I do. I can't wait to get started. I am in the middle of transferring from another college. My current college is okay but I wanted to change my major and attend a college in the state where I live.
Samantha
In my opinion they do not actually operate as a christian university. Christianity is about helping and forgiving. Not condemning. However, here if you are struggling with a problem it almost feel as if there is no one to actually help because you're afraid of being suspended or expelled. The mold caused me to become horridly sick which affected my grades. There is next to no affordable stores within walking distance. they have a locally owned grocery store that in my opinion is over priced. While i felt safe walking alone in the dark, i would not suggest walking around during the winter in the dark because they do not properly clear leaves and salt for ice. I fell down a set of cement stairs and nobody ever came to ask me what the problem was. There were icy leaves all over the stairs which could have helped me if they had been cleared.

I am in love with this school and took a few classes as a highschool senior. It is my dream school because the teachers invest in their students. The atmosphere is one of learning and critical thinking. It is fun to be there. If you prefer smaller communities, its also good. Stellar art professors.
Allison
I love Asbury. I could not have gone anywhere else. Asbury has a variety of people and trips to attend. The largest class I’ve been in is around 40 students and that was a Gen-Ed. I’ve had a class of five people for multiple classes. As you get into your major your class size gets really small.
Victoria
Asbury is very intentional in that it seeks out the incoming students to ensure they are included in the community. I highly recommend this college because it has provided an extremely welcoming, growing, bonding, and friendly experience. Without a doubt, I would return to Asbury, both for the experience had here, and for the engaging atmosphere that is undeniably present.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Asbury University is 69%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would advise that I connect more with other classmates and study together. I relied too much on my own to complete assignments or take tests. I think learning from others and working together is a necessary component to education.
The best thing about Asbury College is that I am an Education Major and it is considered to be the top college in the state with regard to students who obtain teaching jobs after graduation. Graduates in Education from Asbury College are heavily sought which makes my future look bright.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Asbury College is a school in wilmore ky that tries to portray a christian academic environment, but really suggests a place where hoverparents can send their child who has no maturity, no willpower, and no means of disconnecting themselves from their overly-controlling parents.
Almost all of my peers are conservative, white, christian "do-good'ers" who have high standards for friends, who are offended by the media, and who look down on those who are not like them.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I feel like someone who is into the party scene should not attend Asbury. Asbury is a school based on a Free Methodist background so the school is very stron in its beliefs and set of rules and values. You do not have to be Methodist to feel welcome at Asbury though, I'm not and I feel great about being here.
Asbury is known academically media com department and Education department. Our school sends 40+ people to work for the Olympics every two years, and our teachers are nationally ranked. However, Asbury is known for its religious standing, its conservative style and its strict rules.
Asbury College is a great school for persons who want to attend a faith based institution. Chapel is required 3 times per week and is very focused on Christ centered gatherings, ballgames and functions.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I like to express to others how at home i feel here. All the students, staff, and alumni are friendly and welcoming. I know that I always have someone to talk to when needed. The professors are very good about their office hours and being available. Most professors even give you their home phone numbers. It feels as if everyone is one big family. The school is just perfect in size.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
This is a school that is dedicated to christian values. It has a strong foundation in community and and helping everyone around the world. The school is supportive to everyone who attends and will allow you to recieve the best education and have the best resources.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The only thing I would consider inconveint about Asbury, is the reqirement to attend chapel three times a week. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we are to attend chapel from 10- 10:50. The whole campus attends this and is required to sit in assigned seating. There are "chapel checkers" who spend the time checking to see if you are there that day or not. If your absent, sleeping, eating, etc you get marked absent. The only good part is we recieve .25 credit each semester for attending.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
There are some rules that I don't agree with like our curfew and the no dancing rule. There are also some people on campus who seem to think that they are better than other people just what group they belong to and that bothers me.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
The quality of community at the college, is low, but the academics are high. I wish I'd know before I attended any school that the school I'm at now has great support for students with learning disabilities.

Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.

31% were awarded federal grants.59%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
