Augusta university is a great school for those who are smart and willing to further their education, but do not have the high grades and scores needed to get into colleges such as the University of Georgia. It is near many different shops and recreational activities that being bored will be hard to achieve!

It is a very nice academic institution and the teachers are good but there should be more activities to make students interact more and get to know more people. There are some activities but there should be a couple that are mandatory so more people go. Overall it is a good school but the city of augusta is very boring

I began my journey at Augusta University by enrolling in the nursing program and I am currently a senior in the program. I live over 250 miles away from the campus and had been informed from multiple people in my community about how great their nursing program is and the quality of education they offer; this is what drove me to apply to their program. The faculty thus far have been tremendously informative and very encouraging of our success in the program. They are exceedingly knowledgeable and have offered great advice from their years of experience in the field. The facility at Augusta University offers a great opportunity for us to learn and thrive in the field. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to study at Augusta University, and I am proud to be Jaguar.

So far from what I seen of Augusta State University I love. The classroom size is small and I like that. It’s easier to learn in a smaller classroom setting. Everyone seems so nice and easy going and easy to talk to when I need help. And I am so excited to continue my education at Augusta State University.

The college is a good school. There is not much to do in Augusta besides the mall, so it can get pretty boring on the weekends. This college forces you to focus just on academics because there is not much to do. As a student I do not believe that I have much of a social life which I do not mind.

It is a beautiful city and campus overall. Mine and my family's biggest priority is safety. Augusta State University has on-site police officers 24/7 who are able to walk with you on the way back to the dorms or they are able to open your car doors for you if ever you left your car keys in the car. They are ready whenever you need them and my parents and I are extremely relief and glad for having them to keep students safe.

I think it is a great school with good prestige and a beautiful campus. They offer a variety of services to help students succeed and there is a lot of opportunities to get involved in student life. They are a bit pricey but I guess that’s a common trait amongst colleges.

It is an awesome school to attend. The campus itself is very beautifully kept. Although it may seem like a small school it is very family oriented and the faculty and staff provide excellent individualized customer service for the students and the community.

I love it! The campus is beautiful, especially at night. There are intimate class sizes and professors that are willing to help. We have a great tutoring program and great recreational facilities. Everyone underestimates Augusta University because it is seen as a "small town college," but it there is much more to it. From the basketball games to the study sessions on the amphitheater lawn, we always have something going on!

Augusta University is a great college to go to especially if you are thinking about pursuing a career in healthcare because they offer many resources in those fields. The college is affiliated with the Medical College of Georgia, so students have opportunities to shadow and intern at hospitals. While it is not known for being a party school.Downtown Augusta has access to local restaurants, local concert events, museums, and River watch area, where visitors have opportunities to view the Savannah River.

The science courses are killer, but the size is just right, it is comfortable, and convenient. You really have to buckle down and make sure you have a good study technique, good time management, and a good sense of balance. The only issue I have had other than with the hard science courses, is the administrative workers. They defer you to other departments a lot and sometimes questions you may have take a long time to get answered or resolved.

In my couple of moths of being here, I never thought I would like my local college this much. The teachers have a really passion for what they do and the people I have met here, whether they are staff or peers, are really supportive of each other.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Dang I wish I did this or that
Regret fiddling with my thumbs
If I could just turn the time back
I would cease day dreaming and hums
Most likely listen to my moms
Urgently progressively active
Ignored parents very passive
Immature I was just cooling it
Just scared fraidy cat fits
Second round, catch the glimpse
On the other side grass greener
New person have you seen her?
I’m right here, ready
Now rushing to libraries
Computers continually
Working and contacting colleges
Agreeing with state pledges
Hitting the books for SATs
Instead of phoning with the buddies
Or taking my time on my ACT
So my parents wouldn’t look down on me
Every weekend showing initiative
To run fundraisers
Maybe to my guardians being attentive
Better yet networking with scholars
Getting up to try out for volleyball scholarships
Rather than pulling the lazy transcripts
Clear my mind of all the nightmares
Because my sister is no longer here
To show me the ropes,
Break out from the suspense of misconception
Knowing it’s okay, she gave that peace
So now I open the closet head towards creation
And keep that spirit that puts me at ease
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The two things that I brag about most are the "First Year Experience" which helps new students get acclimated to college life, and my apartment at University Village. I've made a lot of friends through FYE, and I don't have to share a room with anyone in my apartment!
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I would have known that the whole school is centered around the idea that you have to go to MCG, Medical College of Georgia. They do not talk about anything else besides that. They also do not talk about attending graduate school. If you are not going to MCG then they suggest getting a job in your feild and from there, you are on your own. I wish I would have known I would be guiding myself through school. The advisors can be unencouraging at times so I have learned to encourage myself.
The student population is not your average, straight-out-of-highschool population; a large portion is made up of non-traditional students with prior military and career experiences.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I consider the requirement to take support classes is the worst thing about Augusta State University. The reason I think this is the worst thing about my school is because I feel that some students are not good test takers, and might be under alot of pressure while taking the compass exam. I feel like the school administration should allow students to take the test two different times in order to get a good feel on what level the student stands on.
I think just about anyone could benefit from attending our school, we have some of the best professors in the state, and we have an equal balance of education, sports, and other activities.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I can honestly say that I have not come across any stereotypes at my school. My school is so diverse but everyone seems to get along. The stoners love the Frat boys and the geeks love the jocks and vice versa. It is pretty cool, actually.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
I am only involved in the communications club and that is because that is the only club I heard about. I am ashamed to say that most of the clubs at my school do not do anything to make the clubs known. The fraternities/ sororities and the basketball team are the most popular activities/ groups at my school. The golf team is pretty good also, I hear. I met most of my friends by living in the University VIllages which is our on campus housing but it is not exactly on campus. You can find me there majority of the time. All the students that live there love to party but we can not have parties in our apartments, so most of us just go out to a club.
I have had the pleasure of enjoying all of my professors but that is just me. I have had friends that have told me terrible stories about their teachers. My favorite class was my political science class. Although I passed the class with a low grade, I really enjoyed the class. He just overloaded us with work but I did learn a lot and he was such a entertaining teacher. That class actually brought me closer to one of my friends because we would always have the most in depth conversations after class. My major however, is communications. I love public speaking, especially if I am passionate about the topic. Along with public speaking, I love writing so I also want to get into journalism.
I love the classes; the professors are awesome for the most part. I also like the fact that the school is putting a lot of effort to make our college experience better. They are now creating all kinds of activities for use to do. What I do not like about my school is the fact that we do not have a football team, which means no homecoming. I also think the school is a little too small. It is easy to learn someones personal business at this school. The town is okay, it is not in the middle of nowhere so there are different things you can do during your free time but you need a car. They could also work on improving the financial aid process, but I think it's the same for most schools.
Classes are not bad, you just have to be on top of your work and make sure you have a good relationship with your teachers. The good thing about my school is there is always a way to get help. They have a math lab, english lab and tons of tutors so there really is no excuse.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
80% of students attending Augusta State University receive some sort of financial aid.
43% were awarded federal grants.53%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
