It is a regular school , if you are into sports & activities & making friends , another school would be better . The professors are nice but there are some lazy ones . Students usually stay to themselves but if you ever need help , your success coach will help you !.

The college has some exceptional professors, it is located in a convenient area, it’s in south Bronx, right by the 2,4 and 5 trains. The cafeteria is alright, the college has many different student clubs and organizations, sometimes they host events that all students can attend. There is no on-campus housing. They have good college advisors (student success coaches). The school has it’s own basketball team. What’s important to add is that the tuition is relatively cheap. Overall, it’s a good school, I recommend it.

The college has a wonderful and prestigious Radiologic Technology program. The professors have been very accommodating and helpful when I had academic issues. I have also utilized some of the resources provided by the college and it has been helpful in my time of need.

We're a community, rather than a school. Many guides and hands to hold as you prepare yourself to enter the real world. This experience makes you grateful to be the person you will be in a future. You are held accountable for your actions, yet rewarded if you show interests and attempts. I have been blessed with this opportunity. I do not regret my decision to flourish and grow as an active member of society, I am proud of starting in Hostos.

they are very helpful with the enrolling process as with the transition back into school. If you have a question someone is always available by phone or in person. I think their office hours should at least be to 7pm for someone who works during the day. But no complaints against this institution.

My school is perfect for those who learn in smaller class rooms. The student to teacher ratio is about 30 to 1. This is ideal for those who like more teacher student interactions during class time. The professors are always available during their office hours and they push you to see them if your too shy to ask questions in class. The tuition is roughly 6000 per year making it very affordable for low income students. They have many majors and help centers to enrich the learning culture such as tutoring and writing assistance workshops.

Hostos Community College is a very good college. They offer several two years programs in many majors. The price of going there is reasonable. My three professors, I had this Spring all went the extra mile for the students. This Spring was my first semester in this college. I'm taking up Game Design. There is good shopping in the area and a Hospital in the area. The campus is right over the bridge from New York City. The Train and bus stop right in front of campus. As far as safety goes if that is your concern then let me put your mind to ease, The campus is very safe. There is a lot of security there mostly by NYC cops. There are cameras everywhere. The students and staff are from mixed cultures and different ages and it's a great place to learn. I hope you will join me there this fall,

Hostos Community college serves the purpose it was made for, reopening doors and opportunities for those who might of thought their future was cut short. The courses offered are varied and fit well with the curtain needs of this generation. The teachers are welcoming and pay aid to the needs of the students. They make themselves available to the students when needed, motivate us to do better, and inspire us to look into ourselves and unchain our creative expressions while challenging us to always do our best and keep moving forward with our futures and never back. Varies financial offices exist to cater to whatever questions the students might have about their situations. Everything is made with a purpose and the college caters to serve it which makes up for whatever faults it may have

The campus is of reasonable size. It is easy to get lost in the buildings. The classes are big depending of the course your are taking. For example, if you are enrolled in their media design program, the classroom will most of the time be full of up-to-date computers for each student.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for CUNY Hostos Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Knowing what I now know, I would go back in time and tell myself to stick to going to a school that I know I could afford. I used to attend a university that granted me scholarships and aid that I would receive for the first year. I was initially conflicted about which school to attend but decided on the bigger name. Despite the financial assistance, two years went by and it came to a point that I had to transfer out because I could not afford to go to the university any longer. As a result, I would definately go back to tell myself to think more about the distant future as opposed to the near future. I would also tell myself to work to save some money on the side and apply for scholarships for books and other school supplies instead of having to worry about it every semester. I would tell myself not to be easily influenced by others and think about what is best for myself in the long run while learning from my mistakes and others.
The best thing about the school that I attend is the flexibility of the classes, I am able to adjust my class schedule in order for it to fit my daily schedule. I also really enjoy the student life and groups that are offered here on campus. Being that I am 22 years old and I started college a little later then expected (as I was helping my mother run her daycare business). I find that I am pushing myself to catch up with my life interests. Hostos Community College has granted me the ability to open my eyes to reality and fit in to my schedule education, teaching me time management and value of liberal education along the way. I think my school is just right, given, the percentage of students that drop out is excessive; it is still very much an excellent school. There is a large amount of students that attend classed here but that doesn't bother me.
People don't notice Hostos community college as a privileged school because it is not. It is a college that serves its community (which is a Hispanic native community). However, I am African American so the exclusive groups do not tend to me. Unfortunately there are no CUNY schools that were founded specifically for African Americans in NY. Aside from my rant, when I tell people that I go to Hostos community College I don't get a reaction. In a sense I like it that way. The most frequent student complaints are about the constant change of policies in our academic coaching units. It is very much understood by the students that there are two forces working against each other when it comes to the "higher up's" Nevertheless the staff that is fighting to keep the promise of Hostos community college alive is greatly admired by the student population.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The teachers are so understanding, supportive and comforting. If you have questions they are willing to answer and encourage students to come into their office during office hours and get the help that you need. Because of current financial troubles I am glad to be able to attend a school that can give me a great education while being able to afford it at the same time.
Hostos was best known for its history and for its important aspects that revolves around the college community because this school has opened me with plenty of opportunities that I never had the chance to experience when I was in high school. To me, Hostos was also best known for those that wanted to pursue their education as an alternative just so that students across the globe can be able to experience several things of what this school is about and what can it do for them to become someone important.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I could've worked a lot more harder just so that I would maintain my GPA up to a 3.9 and that way I'd be selected to the Dean List in which I've never had the chance to be part of a group of students who were very successful and have accomplished many things and would continue to strive and achieve their success into what they want to become in real life. But as of this semester, I've given my effort over to what I've accomplished and it was worth it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I think that the advisement can be a little hit and miss particularly if you want to go into Medicine. I was advised to take Bioloy A&P which is not a requirement for Medicine so I wasted a Semester and missed out on some programs that would have allowed me to circumvent the MCAT such as Mount Sinai's flexmed program.
