Davidson College Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Davidson College accurate?

Alex

Basically. We do have fun too, although it is true that we take our studies very seriously. To some extent we have to work hard to keep up with the workload and the academic expectations.

Libby

Both of these stereotypes are true. The first one I would say is more true than the latter. I remember on my tour of Davidson, the tour guide pointed out Belk Computer Lab (a 24 hour study room) and warned us that if we went to Davidson we would probably use this room to pull an all nighter. I thought she was exaggerating, but I don't know a single student here who hasn't skipped sleep at least one night to meet a deadline. The second stereotype is also true, but to a lesser extent. There's a definite 'country-club' feel to Davidson, but President Ross has made a strong effort (and made significant progress) in increasing campus Diversity with policies like the Davidson Trust.

Cecilia

to an extent, just as any stereotype is true.

The first stereotype is not true. Davidson students have a fair mix of both work and play. Davidson College does in fact defalte grades. Also, davidson students do live in a bubble which is both a positive and negative fact.

Ryan
