I originally joined Eastern Gateway as a way to obtain my associates degree along with the fact being that my job at the time paid for my entire education. Between working 40 hours a week, maintaining a social life, and keeping my mental health in check, it was through Eastern Gateway I was the first in my family to obtain a college degree. Even after transferring to a 4-year school for a completely different degree, I'm thankful for what I achieved through this school.

Honestly, it is a horrible place to go. Yeah, I made some friends there, but even that was a challenge. You feel so alienated when you go there. The teachers are .. okay. I have only one teacher in mind for that college that was actually rememberable. I also had to fight with them for MONTHS to get a school refund check.

My main issue with EGCC is the staff, I am an online student and I rarely feel like the professors are available for assistance. I have decided to wait to take my major related courses until I move to my intended transfer school because I've felt like it was not a great idea to do so at this college (because of the lack of help). I have also experienced this in the classroom, as I have asked a question that was a fairly simple one and the professor knew less than I did. Additionally, I have reached out to teachers to get a letter of recommendation for a scholarship application and the process took me over two months simply because two of the staff members I reached out to were very slow in getting back to me and inefficient. If you are a student looking for a good professor or a supportive teaching staff, I would say that this school is not for you. Just for reference, I have been an online student there for two years and also went to class at the Youngstown campus for a semester.

I love the online courses as well as the studies. The self service portal is extremely beneficial because the student can update their demographics, check grades, and even register for your next class or classes. I have not had a bad experience since joining August 20, 2018. It is very easy to use the student portal to get to the assignments as well as email and tutoring buttons if needed. It is easy to deal with financial aid because it is a simple format and they supply forms like other online schools. They even have a portal to submit financial aid forms. The staff only calls you if things cannot be handled via email. Great school, process, classes and teachers!

I believe it is the perfect starter college to go to right after graduating high school. The classes are not too overwhelming as you hear from college horror stories and the staff is nice. It is affordable too, great to get started and get the basics out of the way for little to nothing, then if you want you can transfer all those credits and continue your education elsewhere.

It's a great opportunity to learn and earn your degree. It's a cheaper alternative than going straight to a four-year college. I have been attending Eastern Gateway Community College online for one year and the school like balance is excellent. The teachers are great and if you have a question they are ready to answer them.

My school is close to home and is giving me an education that i can base more education off of if i decide to transfer to a 4 year school.
