I’m interested in Georgia College & State University because it feels like more than just a school. It feels like a place where I can actually grow, not just academically, but personally and professionally too. The nursing program stands out to me because of how hands-on, student-focused, and community-centered it is. I’m not just looking for a degree but I am looking for an environment that will challenge me, support me, and prepare me to truly make a difference in people’s lives.
I also appreciate the sense of connection GSU seems to foster between students and faculty. That kind of environment matters to me. I want to be surrounded by people who care about what they’re doing and who they’re becoming and I feel like I’d find that there.

I have experienced one year of Georgia College and State University and I am delighted to be entering my sophomore year. After facing some indecision in my freshman year, I wanted to change my major after experiencing a few core classes that I wanted to explore further, which led me to major in both Sociology and Spanish. The resources that the college offered were amazing and acted quickly, including a wonderful counselor that helped me through my indecision. Ultimately, I am very excited to continue my education at GCSU and cannot wait for another great year.

So as someone who just recently had to choose a college, Georgia College is the one and only that really stuck out to me. Choosing the college you want to attend is a really big choice. There are lots of aspects that play into your choice. When I went and toured Georgia College I knew it was the one for me. The students who gave the tour were so down to earth and truthful about how they felt about the university. I got to tour all the different classes and facilities and really got a feel for the area. I can't wait to spend my next 4 years at Georgia College. Go Bobcats!

Just getting ready to get started. Was to begin in Summer and was delayed to Covid. Went on a few visits. Eager to get started and more involved. Mostly everything right now I have been experiencing is online. I will start this Fall full time and be able to provide more info.

The campus is beautiful and well maintained. The diversity of students is easily seen with a quick walkthrough campus. The history of campus is preserved in the buildings and the staff are all very nice. There is plenty to do downtown and it is a safe environment. The school is also a short drive to Athens for those who like football.

I absolutely love Georgia College! Admission to get in is rarely easy, I got an 1100 on my SAT and had a 3.7 GPA. The Camus is absolutely gorgeous but very small. Each class has about 30 students. The professors are not like any other college professor, they interact with each student and are very helpful. The arty scene is great and everyone knows everyone so people are fairly friendly. I am now a Junior at GCSU and while activities can be reetative because its such a small town, the friends you make and academics are worth coming to Georgia College.

Georgia college is a great place to attend college. I have spent my entire life around the campus and everyone is nothing short of helpful and caring. It is a family feeling environment that you just don’t want to miss out on. Many people are involved in the community as well and try to make the town and campus a better place.

Overall, I love Georgia College. I chose to go to this school because it was smaller and had a more homely feel, and it definitely held up to that. I am just far enough away from home that I don't go home every weekend, but I am close enough to be able to go home if I need to. I love how small the class sizes are, very similar to High School, which I am very comfortable with. Milledgeville also has a lot of activities around town so I am never bored on the weekend. I have also made a lot of friends there so I always have people to hang out with and most of my friends live in the same apartment complex (which is relatively nice) so I am never far from friends and entertainment.

I really enjoy this school because of its small size. The classes are small enough that the professors get to know you (in case you need a letter of recommendation). The diversity is lacking when it comes to different ethnicities and races. However, there are several different clubs and organizations highlighting different topics and issues.

Georgia College and State University (GCSU) is a great school for students who are looking to focus on studies. Being in Milledgeville, there are some spots available to visit and have fun, but you will never be distracted. The campus is next to downtown Milledgeville, where there is a variety of restaurants and shops to visit in walking distance. The class sizes are smaller than most schools, which is nice because often times your professor knows your name. You are more than just a student number here, you have a name and goals and people who want to help you achieve them. The staff and students here are nice to be around and talk to. It is a really amazing campus for anyone looking for a school that feels like home.

Georgia College and State University is a great university because of the way they treat their students. There are a plethora of opportunities -- both with academic and extracurricular activities. The professors teach at a high level, and make time for the students outside of the classroom. With the clubs and opportunities available, every student has the opportunity for success.

Georgia College and State University is my forever home. I love Milledgeville, and the campus is small enough to where you're never lonely, but big enough to where there are still people to meet and sights to see. The professors pay a lot of attention to their students and are always nice enough to talk to about any issues I may have. Georgia College is one of the best public liberal arts schools in Georgia, and it will always be the home of the Bobcats.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to prepare for college by studying more and not procrastinating.
Someone who wants individual attention to be challenged and succeed, access to supports like tutoring and career counseling, and an atmosphere that puts the person ahead of research or salary.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my school is they need to open more classes for their students. There are so many classes in which students don't get to take because they end up filling up even before they get to register. This then can cause major problems later down the road.

We are all very proud of our school and have so much school spirit. We also are very involved on campus, and there is a very enjoyable environment on campus. The people are so nice and welcoming.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
You shouldn't attend this school if you don't like living in a small town, in a place where things can get pretty boring. Also I wouldn't go unless you're really interested in learning about lots of different things, despite your major the school will make you learn about a mulititude of things through events and activities. Also there isn't a whole lot of racial diversity which bothers a lot of people.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The teachers do no know anything about todays work environment. The people taht work in the offices are rude and not hepful. This is why Georgia's education is horrible.
I would say the best thing about this school is the small class size. Most classes range from about 30 students to about 60 students, and I currently have a class with 11 students. The smaller class sizes allow a better relationship with other students in your class and the professors as well. We also have a beautiful campus. The groundskeepers do a great job keeping up the beauty and elegance that our campus has to offer. One thing that I wish we had would be more on campus restaurants, but Chick-fil-A and Einstein's bagels usually get the job done. Milledgeville is definitely a college town; it would be a ghost town without GC and GMC. When people hear that I go to Georgia College, they usually bring up the mental institutions. We had the largest set of mental institutions in the country (now most of them are closed down which means it's even creepier driving around that area), and that coupled with the historic district make for a rich, interesting history.
We have a lot of very good class choices here at Georgia College. Right now I'm in a Buddhism class, and coupled with my advanced learning of psychology course, I'm making connections to the world that I never thought possible. I'm a psychology major and I love it. I love the professors in the psychology department; they are kind and they will help you with anything you're struggling with. Because of the small class size, participation is required in a great deal of my classes (there is usually an attendance policy) and the professors usually know my name. I think there is a good balance at this school of learning for knowledge's sake and learning what you need to know to obtain a job. If you pick a major that requires electives, that is a great opportunity to take classes that will further your general knowledge of the world and society. I would have to say that nursing is one of our most competitive and prestigious majors. We have a really good nursing program that will guarantee you a job after school, but it is extremely competitive. Studying frequently to keep your GPA high is very important. Overall, I think we have a good selection of majors and classes that will help you get your degree and get a job while furthering your general knowledge and areas of personal interests at the same time.
I made my decision to go to this school because of the education program that they have here. It is one of the best in the state. You apply to get into a two year program called a cohort and it that two years you are spending most of the time out in the field in the classroom so it prepares you so well to where when you do start teaching and have your own classroom it is like you are a three year teacher. I also made my decision on the size of the school, not too big and not too small.
You can always either go to the professors office or contact them through e-mail and they will be more than happy to answer all of your questions! They actually care about their students and care if the students are in class or not. Most of the professors do take roll and have some type of attendance policy because they do want you to be successful in the classroom. Since this school is not too big you have that one on one relationship with the teacher and most of them will know you by name so that you are more comfortable talking to them and asking them questions.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
