Lafayette College is a place that feels like home. So many schools have a top-tier education, but, unlike Lafayette, they often feel as though there is a disconnect between the college and its students. At Lafayette, I feel that the school genuinely cares about its students. Its engineering program and opportunities for Women in STEM are incomparable, and, as I am committed to swim there at the Division 1 level, I can confidently say that the athletic programs are also wonderful.

I absolutely love my school. The campus is gorgeous, the academics are solid, and there's a lot of great people (plenty of not-so-great people too, but as long as you find the right group you're fine). I've enjoyed the classes I've taken so far, and professors really care about their students and want to help you do well. The fact that is a smallish liberal arts school with an engineering department and D1 sports is pretty unique and makes for a "best of both worlds" experience (at least in my view).

Amazing school, I would highly recommend. If you are looking for a positive environment that encourages academic prowess and provides all necessary resources to succeed, Lafayette is the school for you! We also have sports and Greek life, which are available options but are not forced are mandatory. You can do anything you want to do here!

Lafayette is a small school, that comes with small school benefits such as small classes, teachers who want to help you, and lots of recourses. Academically Lafayette is a great school. However, many people struggle socially due to the greek life situation here. You are not allowed to rush until sophomore year, and then when you do you spend most of your time with the people in your sorority, making it hard to stick with your old friends. Not being able to rush until sophomore year makes it really hard social freshman year. Besides that I love Lafayette!

Lafayette College is an amazing place to spend four years. My professors were extremely accessible and super willing to help. The professors tend to put relationships with students high on their priorities. Lafayette is a place where you can partake in many different activities. The community is also amazing. I loved the small size of the college. I would recommend for anyone to attend Lafayette for college.

Lafayette is full of interesting people who will engage in interesting conversations and start cool projects, but there are a lot of more basic people who are not as interesting. If you surround yourself with the right people, you will have an amazing four years.

I've made a memorable experience so far at Lafayette. I am currently a freshman heading into my second semester and am extremely happy with my choice to attend. There is ALWAYS something going on at Lafayette, so often that sometimes it is quite overwhelming, so new students have plenty of opportunities to get involved and to meet new people. Lafayette's campus is gorgeous, and I encourage new students or visitors to check out my favorite place on campus, the Kirby hall library. Class sizes are small so you can certainly become close with your professors. Greek life is popular but not overbearing, and students don't rush until sophomore year so there is plenty of time to figure out who you are as an individual on campus before having to decide whether or not to go greek. The food is always fresh, and Marquis dining hall is a loved place by all students on campus. Unfortunately, food options on the weekend aren't as good as most places are closed or have different hours, which is one thing that I would change about Lafayette. There is a pretty decent party scene at Laf for being such a small school, and it's not uncommon for students to be going out on weekdays, but there is no pressure to drink if that is not your thing. As stated previously, there are plenty of activities going on everyday that you can chose to partake in instead.

Very small school, less than 3000 students. They bring a lot of attention to the engineering program, one of the best for liberal arts colleges. Other majors don't get much attention, except for econ/finance. Sports teams are not good. Food is okay to good. Housing is pretty limited and they're increases student body size, which doesn't make a lot of sense at the moment. Courses are challenging and professors are very accessible. Not much to do right outside of campus.

Went to lafayette and transferred in my junior year to NYU. Realized after transferring that lafayette is completely bush league. Yeah engineering is good but the small campus amounts to a college version of a country club with no realities of the real world. People partied there for four years and then hit the "real world" only to find major disappointment. If you have a trust fund or some job waiting for you this school is great. Otherwise try to go to a school that gets you set for life.

The campus is so beautiful and safety is never much of an issue. With security readily available and the tendency for students to travel in pacts, there are minimal incidences. The professors are always welcoming. Overall, the school is great and I would recommend to others.

Lafayette only wants rich kids. The school could not care less about you unless you have the money to apply there and if you don't, they will "throw your application in the trash" because you are "wasting their time." Honestly, it is not worth the price tag anyway.

Lafayette College allows for students to feel at home in all that they do. Professors genuinely care about their student's well-being and are readily available. Staff take time and get to know many of the students creating even more personal connections. In addition, the academics at the school are steller. Although the classes can be difficult, there are many resourses to make sure that the students are able to succeed at all they try to accomplish. The school does not just feel like a place that I go to learn, but it instead feels like home.

Lafayette is a very acedmic school. If students are looking for a party school they should not come here but once you settle in and find your group of friends everything else seems to fall into place. What’s so great about Lafayette is the opportunities that the school open ups for students as long as students are very proactive about reaching out for support from factuality.

Throughout my time at Lafayette I can only speak to the experiences that are my own, unique to how I navigated through the course of my undergraduate education. All shaped by the two pillars of college, academics and extracurriculars.
Academically, Lafayette works hard to ensure that it supplies its students with the tools they need to succeed. In large part, this is made possible through the environment that Lafayette aspires to create. The campus is quaint and serene, I mean it is literally a registered arboretum, and has a gorgeous central quad – kind of like the ones you see in movies (except this one only gets used about 3 months a year when the weather is nice). The chemical and biomolecular engineering department is stellar. Professors are beyond helpful, most of them having an “open-door” policy – whenever their office door is open you are welcome to walk in and ask questions. The professional staff are truly invested in the success of their students. During my time here, I have had the ability to participate in research since I was a sophomore, allowing me to gain experience that is unheard-of at many of the larger institutions. Likewise, in the class room, I never feel like I am overshadowed. Honestly, it’s difficult to every feel that way when your classes are capped at 25 people and all the professors know you by name.
Socially, Lafayette struggles. A lack of both success and enthusiasm for the varsity sports program, despite our being a Division I institution, leaves the entire community lacking a shared entity to rally around. This leads to a clear social divide between athletes, Greek life, and those unaffiliated with both parties. Not that you don’t know people across all these groups, the campus is much too small for that, but it is likely that if you belong to one of these 3 categories your weekends affairs will dictate as such. On that note, if you’re looking for wild parties every night Lafayette might not be your place Although, if you are determined there is always someone doing something. Thursday – Sunday there will no doubt be options, but again they tend to be exclusive, so you likely need to know someone.
Our student body, demographically, lacks diversity, with most of our students coming from upper-middle class homes. Although, variety of thought is still strong. Students are constantly engaged in the social and political climates effecting society. There are a wealth of clubs and groups to join with more being added each year. Our presence within the community of Easton is something we are very cognizant about and as such volunteer/ outreach opportunities are available in abundance.
Lafayette, like many things in life, is only what you make of it. Thanks to Lafayette I have gained some of the dearest friends, a well-rounded education, and memories that I know I’ll never forget. College is going to be unforgettable no matter where you attend, but if you are looking for a close-knit community, with top-notch academics, and open-minded peers, this might be your place.

Lafayette is a great school. The academics are rigorous and can be difficult but the professors care a lot as do the rest of the faculty. Socially, the school is fun and easy to find your own niche and be able to be involved as much or as little as you want. Lafayette has some issues that they are trying to solve and they need to have more people of color on campus.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lafayette College is 28%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I have a younger sister who is just about to choose a college, so lately Ive been formulating such advice. I think that the best thing to do is take some time your senior year and really research and think about what you want to do after college. Do a lot of shadowing/ externships/ etc. so that you will truly understand why you want to go to college, and so you can also find the right college for you. I wish that I would have researched my career aspirations in high school. I circled around the healthcare profession, from surgeon to researcher to nurse, finally landing on nurse midwife. A little more research in high school would have saved time and money in the journey that is the college experience.
My classmates, I would consider more of my siblings. I trust them with everything, and they help me whenever I need a shoulder, or advice, or a friend. My classmates are diverse and interesting, and I love learning from them and talking to such engaging people.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Lafayette College has an excellent and extremely challenging science and engineering programs. A Lafayette degree in science is something to brag about.
Describe the best and worst parts of the social scene on campus.
The best part is that there is always stuff going on. If you want to have a good time, whether it be with alcohol or without, you can always find something to do. The only drawback to this is that stuff can get a little too repetitive at times, but not for most people.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Students who want a giant population on campus because the college campus is small and has about 2400 students total. There is a good social aspect but not the same as a large university.
Lafayette has wonderful academics. If a student is looking to come to the school, it should be first and foremost because of its academics. Students who come to this school can get an incredible amount out of our academic programs, provided he or she is willing to work hard and put the effort in. Lafayette professors are completely accessible and enjoy nurturing driven students toward whatever direction they are interested in.
I think the strong academics. I also am proud of our strong alumni connects. The professors do a good job of working with the students to make the experience the best it can be.
OK with knowing prof's personally, not afraid to stand out, not looking for big-city opportunity, likes leadership opportunities, open to a diversity of interests.
Laf-Lehigh is probably our longest running campus tradition. The rivalry speaks for itself, and it's the one campus event that revs up school spirit like none other. March Field and the Quad are awash in a sea of leopard print. By 7AM you can look out your window and see the pep rally making its way across campus. People come out and they make a lot of noise and wave their Pard Pride around like it's nobody's business. Even if you're not the biggest fan of football, Laf-Lehigh will stir something in you.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Definitely an active social life. About a third of students participate in greek life, but you can still have a social life without participating. Lots of athletes (Division 1 sports.)
Lafayette College is a small private college that consists of about 2400 student. For me, it is just the right size. With the small number of students in every classroom, I usually have more time to talk to my professor having a leisure conversation or asking some homework question. I personally think that if you are a person that really wants to work hard and gets to know people, Lafayette is the place to be.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
There really is nothing frutrating aboutLafayette. Anything that is frustrating comes from my own personal issues as a student, it has nothing to do with the school. The personal fustrations that I do face can be fixed through different resources actually provided by the school.
Their are plenty of dining options at Lafayette and most of them are very good. There are two main dining halls with all you can eat buffets (farinon and Marquis), a food court and two other options that offer sandwiches, burgers etc. One of these places (Gilberts) is open late night and is a popular place in the early am for Nachos.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
