Mercer is a very nice school beautiful campus and great community. However the sports are mediocre and the extra things to do are limited to zero on campus. It is a very expensive school and struggle to find funding. However, out of all of my options I would still choose mercer.

I think that Mercer seems like a good school for me. While with the small student body, there can be a lack of diversity, the small classes provide, at least for me, an introvert, a feeling of comfortability that makes it easier to bond with my professors and peers.

Oluwasegun - 02/24/2021

A great citadel of learning, where one can grow academically and become a better solution provider to the world. There are a lot of new opportunities, and students have access to the right tools for a rewarding academic experience. Besides, the academic environment is second to none, with state-of-the-art facilities, which make learning possible and affordable.

Virginia - 02/28/2020

I knew Mercer was the university for me when I experienced its welcoming, uncompetitive atmosphere the moment I set foot on campus. Mercer’s intimate and driven community has allowed me to form lasting relationships with peers and professors while providing immeasurable opportunities, such as in research and service. I was drawn to Mercer’s service-oriented focus and desire to make meaningful and long-lasting impacts in the lives of those in need as I hope to spend my life doing this very thing as a rural primary care physician. I have not been disappointed as service opportunities abroad, such as Mercer on Mission, and in the local Macon-Bibb region, such as Service Saturdays, are available throughout the semester to anyone seeking to help others. When I first started college, I was certain that none of my professors would want to be bothered by me or form relationships with their students. Thankfully, I was wrong! All of my professors have been open to questions and student interaction. They all learned my name by about the second week of class, especially thanks to the small class sizes and personal learning environment, and look forward to talking to students about their field(s) of interest. While Mercer students are academically driven, there is not a strong, overbearing sense of competition but rather that of community. Anyone seeking a university that offers rigorous academics in an intimate learning environment with research, study abroad, athletic and service opportunities should consider Mercer!

  8. What kind of person should attend this school?

Someone that enjoys small class sizes, and is not looking for crazy parties. We party here with the fraternities and we also go downtown, but it isn't like at the large universities. You have to be willing to work because the classes here are harder, but its worth it.

Before I came to Mercer University, I wish I had known that it would be so hard to get financial aid as a college freshman for my sophmore year. Plus, Mercer, being a private school, has a very expensive tutition which is hard for my single-parent family income to afford.
