Motlow builds a bridge for students who are not ready to jump into a university lifestyle. It gives students time to learn how to study and make new friends in a smaller environment, and then they can move to a larger school and be 100% ready for it! Plus, the class sizes are small enough to have a one-on-one relationship with your professors for a low cost!

It’s a small campus so everyone knows everyone. We communicate and learn from each other. We help each other out where we can and never degrade anyone for trying. The teachers are helpful through messaging or office hours and always willing to help out.

It was a great 2 year experience. I appreciate the fact that I had TN Promise to help me. Motlow was extremely helpful and always available if I had questions about my major. It prepared me for a four year college and if I could do it all again I would !

I attended Motlow State Community College every day of my senior year in high school. I was participating in a Duel Enrollment program that allowed me to earn 41 college credits, most of which came from Motlow. Personally, I enjoyed simple layout of the campus and small classroom sizes. The buildings are kept very clean. The professors vary a lot, but the majority of them are very kind and eager to help you pass their class if you simply take the time to ask.

Motlow is a great college and I would be very proud to graduate in 2021 from the RN program, but the only downfall is that they currently do not offer federal student loan programs. This means that if you do not qualify for the Pell Grant then you must pay out of pocket which I will be "trying" to do starting this fall for the RN program because I have been recently accepted.

Motlow is a good school to get your prerequisites for a bachelor's degreee somewhere else. The online classes are convenient for those who may have difficulties traveling to compus. The classes are affordable compared to other colleges in the area. The professors are helpful.

I think Motlow is the perfect school for those first year students, their teachers are great and try to involved you as much as possible, and their programs are awesome as well. I have no idea what else to type here, but it told me to continue... this school has promise so that's a plus... I really do like this school... I just don't know what to say...

I appreciated the atmosphere of the campus. It was very small; just a place to go to class. I would recommend the school if you want a degree and good grades, but it has no college feel. Most professors are super nice and helpful, and love to have office visits if you need anything. It was a good place to get a degree and I hardly paid a penny!

Being a smaller school, Motlow is truly an experience. I have yet to find a single person who does not enjoy the tight-knit relationships formed amongst peers, the relatively short distance between each building on campus, and how calm the environment feels. It is never crowded and loud - just right for those students who need to concentrate - and Motlow has facilities that cater to various needs a student might need during exam time or for a breather. Each professor makes sure every student understands the topic and is made readily available throughout the week in case of any doubts. I would definitely recommend this community college.

Motlow State Community College is an incredible school for those willing to put in time to learn. The class sizes are small to medium size, but never over 15-20 students. There are a variety of classes and many choices in majors. I cant complain about anything on campus. Motlow is amazing

It is an okay school. Not much in the way of a variety in programs of study. Their website claims to provide a French program, but it is hit or miss. The facilities are, for the most part, clean. The Smyrna location is working on expanded the campus, a much needed accommodation. This school is all right.

The professors and students are kind and helpful most days. The hardest things would be limited parking, little security and almost zero food choices. However, the school does claim to be working to improve all of these. Otherwise, it is a pretty okay school.

It is a very good school. Do not let community college scare you off from coming. We have amazing professors and the classes are not very big. The most in one class is 30 students. I recommend you go here for two years then transfer because this school feels like a small step above high school.

Overall, I enjoy attending Motlow and feel that they are a great community college. The curriculum is current and challenging and the instructors are will to assist when needed. Students are friendly and willing to tutor also. Motlow has helped me move forward

As someone who has transferred here from a 4 year university, it is easier to notice the effort staff and faculty members put in to make the school beneficial to everyone. There are several opportunities to make friends and to grow on an educational standpoint! I highly recommend this college for anyone considering it.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Naturally, as most people would start, I would say that it is important to study as hard as you can, to really focus on making the grade, to be sure to make time for community service, and to start filling out scholarship applications as early as possible. And, naturally, as most high school students would do, the old me would brush aside any and all advice that anybody (including myself) would give him. See, while hindsight is always 20/20, nobody can really see anything for themselves in the future tense that isn't biased by what they want and what they fear. My foresight and performance was always cripplingly biased by my high school philosophy of "a person's potential is what they *could* do, it's what they actually do, because, left to their own devices, what they actually do is all that will ever get done." This meant to me that if I'm too lazy to study harder, that means I won't study harder, and therefore the advice to study harder is invalid. I guess, then, I would try to convince the old me that motivation comes from the inside and is one's potential.
The majority of my classmates are your typical college aged individuals who chose to come to a community college because they liked to stay close to their home setting or could not afford the tuition of a 4 year college or university.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I attend the Smyrna campus, and do not veiw it so much as unique. It is a college I chose for financial reasons. It is an extremely small campus with not a whole lot of options at this particular college. It is great for those who would like to be an RN, because they have a 2-year RN program, but it is very competitive. In addition, it is a good place to get prerequisites out of the way in order to transfer to a university.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The library is the best, you always have a comfortable place to go and an open computer for research. The second best place is the Student Affairs office. They treat you so much better then the other departments; so if you need anything done go there and they will help you through it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Sometimes it feels like a continuation of high school. The small atmosphere, while most days is a good thing, can also feel like you are still in high school. You see many of the same people you went to high school with, which some days can be a negative.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
I attend the Fayetteville Tn. campus it is a small school with about twenty five students per class so you get alot of one on one attention with staff and teachers.
I like going to Motlow because it is smaller classroom. The professor are will help you if you need it. They also have honor students willing to help you too. The only thing that I do not like is the service they give for FAFSA, the little lady that is in the front office does not want to help me at all.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I didn't really know what to expect attending Motlow State Community College, but I did expect to actually feel like I was transitioning from a high school student to a college, and I must say that I do not feel that transition. The stories that my Middle Tennessee State University friends share with me are far more different then the stories I have to share. My stories usually consist of my attendace to class that day, rather then the interesting people I met, and so forth.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person who can't be flexable shouldn't attend Motlow. All of the classes are at the same time and classes are limited, so you must be willing to take day and night classes and go to different locations to get your requirements.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
