It is an excellent school with great academic programs, several different areas to get involved in regarding groups, a very competitive sports program, including men's and women's soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, track and field, men's baseball, and women's softball, just to name a few. The professors, faculty, and staff truly care about every student and wants to see them succeed. If you need someone to talk to, need prayer, or have any questions or concerns, there is always someone available to listen. I'm so thankful for my five years there getting my undergraduate degree in Journalism/Media Production and wouldn't have wanted to attend any other school. MVNU made me feel right at home and truly wanted to help me with anything, and most of all, everyone I talked to not just inside the classroom, but also outside of it, wanted to see me succeed. MVNU is a very special place.

I have always had a close relationship with my God. Being able to go to college and study and be close to others who have the same mindset and beliefs I do is the perfect scenario. They welcomed me on several occasions and made me feel "at home". It was a very easy decision for me to apply to go to college at MVNU! I am excited to also be a part of the cheer program there as well.
Throughout high school, I had to work harder than others to achieve good grades. School does not come naturally to me. I always needed to put in extra study time to perform well on tests, and I had to put in extra effort to get good grades on assignments. Even with the challenges, the extra effort has paid off and I feel I have had a very successful and productive 12 years of education in the Northern Local School District with a 3.447 GPA.
The highpoint of my high school career academically, has been the opportunity to take College Credit Plus program through Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where I plan to attend college, this fall and plan to major in English. I will graduate from high school with 30 college credit hours because of this amazing program.
Throughout all my life I have always been able to connect with children on a higher level than most of my peers. They make me incredibly happy and it is rewarding to be around them. With the love I have for children, English, and Writing I plan to wrap everything together that makes me happy into one for my future endeavors. The thought of teaching in England has come up in conversations with my counselor and my parents as well. I have always had a love for England as well since I was a little girl. I have always been told to “do what makes you happy in your future” and I believe that I am headed in the right direction.
Thank you for your consideration in this scholarship,

The reason I am also drawn towards Mount Vernon is the deep christian and personal roots to this university as well. Many people I know have attended this college and it has a good program rooted in faith. However, I do not know nearly as much about this university as I do my first choice. Also, improved facilities and academic standing would certainly elevate it in my college search.

Mount Vernon Nazarene is a beautiful, safe, and community centered campus. There are typically campus events to attend throughout the week - weekends can be a little uneventful. The food is definitely caf food and the internet is rough, depending on where you are. I have really enjoyed my classes and my professors.

MVNU has always been my dream school. I love how close the campus community is. I love how the professors take a personal interest in their students, how passionate students are about their chosen fields, the School Spirit all around, the provided nurses station and free therapy (if needed), the fact that classes start with a prayer, the chance to attend church service every day, the whole music and art programs, and the fact that it feels like home (even more so than my previous home). I feel safe at MVNU, and I can't wait to start my Junior Year this Fall.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a great university, but there is not a lot to do around. There is not a lot of options for majors, and the programs are not that big. The professors care about the students and love what they are doing. Mount Vernon Nazarene University is really pretty with a lot of green grass.

This school has allowed me to grow in my faith, while also learning about my career. It has been mazing to see how impactful this college is in my happiness, I could not feel more welcomed. This is a school to find life long friends, important relationships with teachers, and success in academics. This is my home away from home.

MVNU is a great place to get to know people and build significant relationships. It is not a big school, so we find creative ways to keep ourselves entertained which brings us closer to each other. Everyone on campus is easy to talk to and willing to start a friendship. It is academically competitive and involved in the students lives. It is not perfect, but the students make it feel like home.

I always looked up to the school for its homey and aesthetic appeal. I knew as soon as I stepped on campus, it was where I belonged. Every staff member and student are there to help each other grow. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to further their education.

I am currently a junior at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and I really enjoy it. I how how small the campus is and how that makes it so much easier to make meaningful relationships. The professors really care about you and always offer to give you one on one help when you are struggling. Overall, MVNU has given me some great experiences and introduced me to some of the best people I will ever know.

MVNU is a safe place to learn, free of drugs and alcohol. MVNU’s professors are always available and make sure that their students know that they care about them. With hiking trails nearby, sports, clubs, and so much more it is easy for students to stay entertained when taking a break from homework. Overall MVNU is a positive campus that is focused on helping students grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. The relationships made here last a lifetime.

The campus is very small with a really nice chapel. The professors are always available and willing to help. Everyone is very nice but there is not much to do off campus. This school is very religious being a private institution but chapel is mainly used for homework i most cases. The food is good but there aren't any meal plans so everyone has to buy the unlimited amount of swipes even if they don't go to the cafeteria often. For the amount of money that people pay to go here the campus is nice but, they could make improvements. Overall the school is nice and small but it definitely has its downfalls.

I truly love my school! There is a great Christian environment and there is so much love all around. I never feel unsafe, the class sizes are perfect for discussion and professors are typically available. I feel truly at home at this university. It is not perfect but it is still so wonderful.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a great Christian college atmosphere that offers a high-quality education. It is a great fit for believers of all traditions, and I'd encourage non-believers to consider applying as well. It's a great community of students and faculty that want to see you grow and excel in your field and take back what belong to Christ as we work as the Kingdom of God.

My overall opinion of MVNU is that it is a place that I have come to love. The students and professors are always looking out for one another and that is hard to find at big public colleges. It's a blessing in disguise to be able to suggest the campus do something new or change something up. The administration is always asking and checking in on us as students.I'm blessed to be where I'm at.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Mount Vernon Nazarene University is 74%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Knowing what I know now, I would have told myself to take more challenging courses throughout high school instead of taking it easy. As a junior in college I find that there are some classes I struggle with that I really should not be struggling with because I should have learned it in high school. As far as making the transition from high school to college I would say that I would tell myself to expect the best of things rather than the worst of things. When you worry about how things can go wrong you don't focus on how they can go right, or how to make them go right. My experience with a roommate my freshman year turned out bad, but I feel it was really because I let myself go into the situation thinking the worst of things. If I had just told myself that everything would turn out for the best, I would have had a better first semester. I would also tell myself not to be afraid to break out of a shell, to make friends and to talk to people more than I actually did.
I love the social and spiritual aspects about my school. The chapel services grow and challenge you, and the social events help you meet new people. I have to say the end of the year block party is the biggest social event on campus and the most fun one.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known that a lot of people go home on weekends. It is sometimes hard to find people to hang out with on weekends because I cannot go home on weekends. This year it is a little easier because the apartment I live in has other girls that live out of state, so they do not go home on weekends either.
Our school is best known for our music and education department. We are also known for a great atmosphere for spiritual and academic growth. The professors are amazing and are always willing to meet with you outside of class when you need to talk. There are also lots of on campus activites and it has a great social atmosphere.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is that the food in the cafeteria is not always the most delicious. We have a very wide selection, but since it is prepared in large quantities, the flavour is not the best. Often I opt for a salad or sandwich. Otherwise, I love my school!
