You get a huge bang for your buck. This school is literally 15 min away from Manhattan and has a very strong business school which is 2 blocks away from Goldman Sachs jersey City HQ. Highly recommend to aspiring business men and women. In terms of partying there is not much to do but once your 21 you’ll have access to a lot of bars and clubs throughout the NYC metro area. Save your money!!!!

This is a great school set in an urban setting that is easily accessible by bus, train, shuttle(NJCU). the teachers and staff are great and everything has gone so smoothly for me. School is what you make of it in addition to the tools that the university has available for students and this is the school where you will achieve your dreams as long as you make use of the tools that the institution has available for you and you do the work.

Coming into NJCU I thought the campus life would be pretty cool and for my first year, it was until my second year started going downhill for me emotionally and academically. Like any typical college student, I was having financial troubles and I was able to get the help I needed from the SOAR office (Student Outreach And Retention). Now the downside to NJCU is that the president of the school claims to be helping the students out, but how could you be helping out the students my putting most of our money to building apartments or even raising the tuition. When really the students on campus need another counselor, more scholarships, better food service. If the president can more be involved in what the student asks for then maybe the school can be all hype.

Njcu is great opportunity for people who don’t have a lot of money to get an education and still fulfill their dream goals or careers. Njcu is a typical small college which could be a good thing because you won’t fell isolated and won’t have to experience a crowded class room.

It's a good school, with good people in a great location. The accelerated nursing program is a 12-month program. The facilities seem really nice and the campus is very clean. Parking is a little crazy so its better to pay to get a parking pass and take the shuttle. All the students I have met seem very nice and helpful.

Located in one of the most diverse cities in the world, NJCU offers it's students the opportunity to excel and make a difference. Knowledge is not only a tool and skill we acquire, but we learn how to work with people, how to advance our skill set, and how to make an impact in any field.

I think New Jersey City University overall is a wonderful school and is very opening. I automatically got scared because it's a college campus, but once you step on the campus everyone is smiling and enjoying themselves. The food was amazing when I had a taste to it and the class size was just how I wanted it.

I think it's a great school for a great price. It provides plenty of opportunities for a diverse population of students to receive a quality education for the fraction of the price at other universities. My professors have been very knowledgeable and provide a lot of support in and outside of the classroom.

NJCU is an okay school. Its not the best and not the worst, its kind of just there. There is always room for improvement I believe in many schools including mine. It needs to be more affordable and give more to students that are struggling. They do offer help, but I feel they could do more. The students are usually nice, Ive never had a bad encounter with a student, and there are some professors that go above and beyond to help students. There are also some that are clearly only there for a paycheck. Normal problems like any other college.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Dear self,
never be afraid to take chances. College life is scary but stay focused on the vision and we will be fine. What's most important is for you to stay focused on what you want and not whats best for everyone else. Everyone will have hopes, wishes and aspirations for you but follow your initial desire. Your instincts are awesome.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The lack of motivation among students. Many are receiving scholarships from the government and being given a chance to overcome difficult circumstances through education, but they throw away their chance. Many students would rather party than study and then wonder why their GPA is a 1.5. The faculty is good and some of our departments (i.e Education) are very reputable within the state, but students, typically undergraduates age 18-22 do not take advantage of that.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
No one knows how to speak proper english. Professors have to spend too much time catering to those who don't care about education, which negatively impacts those who are there to learn. I don't fit in with the "ghetto" crowd.
I love the diversity at my school. Everyone is different through their religion, culture, where they are from, and the way they dress( to name a few). I am able to meet and understand things going on in the world and around me through networking with people from all over.
NJCU is known for its "come back." Once a particularly undesirable school, now NJCU is popular for reaching out and offering wonderful opportunities through its partnership with Brookdale's (a 2 year county college in NJ, far away from jersey city) Communiversity program; and at reasonable tuition prices. Adult students, people with families, and distance learners now have the opportunity to earn a degree from a great school. NJCU has expanded from North Jersey to the South, opening the door for many individuals.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The unique factor that NJCU had over other schools is the diversity. There are people from all different backgrounds. I also think the money and the surrounding of NJCU made it a competitor to other schools in the area. NJCU is located 15mins from New York City where there is hundreds of opportunities. The tuition is less then 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of schools in this area.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I believe, that anyone who does not have the desire or aspiration to obtain knowledge, should not attend any college. Let alone, attempt to register or enroll in any classes, without the motivation or dedication that is neccessary in gaining a college degree. They need not apply. You have to grab a hold of your future and decide if college is for you. I believe knowledge is a good investment. If a person does not believe in investing in knowledge, then he/she shouldn't attend college.
I feel that any person in state or out of state could attend New Jersey City University. I feel that anyone who would like to go to a school in an urban setting can definently attend NJCU.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
94% of students attending New Jersey City University receive some sort of financial aid.
77% were awarded federal grants.38%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
